I figure I'll put this here. But in the last week or so, I finally had my Kitap issued. And yesterday, it was the turn of my KTP-OA to be issued so I can now officially get off the Annual Immigration Stress Bandwagon.
Just want to say thank you for this forum, in particular this thread for getting the gears moving in my head. Shout out to @dannyboy and the agency he recommended in this thread's opening post. Having the right agent helps a lot.
The additional twists and turns, or should I say the additional runaround, in my story was that
I had been eligible to apply for a Spouse Kitap since 5 years ago but my old agent did not like the idea of me only using their services once every 5 years if I had a Kitap. They would tell me every year when I asked if I could apply for a Kitap that I had just "Missed the window for applying, there would not be enough time, and you should extend the Kitas first and safe the Kitap application for next year". Something smelt fishy when one occasion, after my Kitas was done, I told them I want to apply for my Kitap straightaway only to be told, with 11.5 months until my Kitas expires, that I had once again "missed the window for applying for a Kitap".
When I told them I want to switch to a Spouse Kitas en route to a Spouse Kitap, they tried to bluff by saying "The first step is an EPO but an EPO simply means that you'll have to leave the country in 7 days, you have to be away from your family.". I countered with "Yes, but I can put in my Spouse Kitas application in that 7 days and not have to leave." The only credit I can give this old agent was that they stepped aside peacefully and accommodated my EPO when I said the above.
