Let me respond to your post in a different way..
If we took a poll of the posters on this forum .. I think the majority would agree with you, not me.
I guess many are teachers or former teachers or involved in social services in some way.
We are in Indonesia so many are Muslim, either from birth or because they married here.
For sure most are to the left of the political spectrum and "politically correct"
Someone with an opposite opinion always provokes a strong reaction. See the number of f**k off, racist, bigot, tirades we've seen on this thread alone.
Anyway.. sorry if I cut you off before. That's not good etiquette on any forum. It's been a stressful day.
There is no doubt in my mind that you have the right, sorry mod gods,
privilege to express your opinions here, whether they are in line with the majority or the minority.
Posters who seem to be holding the "minority" viewpoint on a given thread do sometimes get sort of ganged up on here, maybe sometimes appropriately so (if they are saying something that many find offensive, for example), and maybe sometimes inappropriately.
I have seen, on the "erstwhile" forum, two female Muslim (Indonesian) posters get pretty savagely attacked (in a virtual sort of way) for simply expressing their sincere views and opinions concerning some aspects of Islam or what they believed as Muslims. I even got "infracted" myself over there for the way I responded to some of those I perceived as their "attackers" (I deserved the infraction in that case, as I admitted to the mod team ... at the time I did not care about being infracted, I wanted to say what I wanted to say the way I wanted to say it, full stop).
I don't consider myself "politically correct" and I don't think that concept is particularly germane to this discussion, but that is probably one of many differences between us, and that's fine.
I'm also not sure whether it's true that the majority of active posters on this forum would agree more with my position on this than with yours.
Anyway, good for you for sticking for your arguments, I stick for mine too and we don't trespass against each other by holding different points of view. No need to apologize.
