FIFA U-20 World Cup 2023 Indonesia

I don't know but when they title it the U20 World Cup I would have to say it might be a little more important than just a youth soccer match. If not the best players then who is missing from the qualified teams?

Plus it is not like the players are amuaters since almost every player is involved in a professional club set up.

Missing are the best players, the adults.

Then what is it? It's a soccer tournament for youth. One sport, and not the best players.
With the exception of the actual World Cup, every other World Cup deals with restricted categories, whether the categories are restricted by gender (eg women's WC), age (eg U-20 world cup), disability (eg Amputee world cup).
In each of these competitions it is reasonable to say that the best players and teams in the world (in their category) are participating.

It is one step up from the 2018 Asian games, and sadly that final step to a worldwide event in a big sport, is something that Indonesia does not seem capable of. We'll see if Jokowi can work his magic somehow.

It seems that "Bob" will only be happy if the actual World Cup or Olympics come to Indonesia. And that will now certainly not happen.

Yes the U20 Cup is for the best players in their category, which is youth.
I'd say the Asian and even SEA Games are bigger given the breadth and level of competition. I suppose it's a matter of perspective. If soccer's all that matters to someone then U20 would be more important to them.
My point was that Indonesia may well host bigger tournaments going forward.
I'm not sure why you'd surmise what makes me happy, but that was a miss.

U20 WORLD cup
That's big

Would have been the same as them banning UK from the G20 because of colonialism

And then watch the whole thing cancelled and moved to SG instead.
This is the start of the downfall

Years ago I was booking A list artists to perform in Asia but none of them ever came here. I'm talking Beyonce JLo OneDirection etc.

We all know what happens when FPI gets its claws in
Rihanna 3 times cancelled
Pussy Cat Dolls 2009 had to be fully head to toe covered yet next day Malaysia back to bikini style (like Bali)
Black Eyed Peas still only been once 2007

We all remember Lady Gaga the devil's daughter etc

Eventually no one wants to come here. From pop stars to sports to politics and eventually business.

We turn into Jakarta cabang North Korea

Wow, is that 15 years ago? I was at that gig, the support band was very good too (The Click Five).

Indonesia can get some top acts (like Arctic Monkeys, or famous DJs like Armin or Garrix). But I guess where they have a problem is if there are female singers who are a bit raunchy. In fact I'm surprised Blackpink was allowed in, without the Mulsim organisations complaining.

Did you ever see a K-Pop picture event in the malls (e.g. Taman Anggrek)? Those teenage girls are all ‘hijabed’ so probably their daughters.

This is somewhat ironic now:

Consternation and even panic since the FIFA removed the Indonesian song ‘Glorious’ made for the U20 tournament from their official website and all social media?!

The song ’Glorious’ is the official soundtrack of the U-20 World Cup performed by the music group Weird Genius and three young singers Lyodra, Tiara Andini, and Ziva Magnolya. It will/would/should be released on 31 March.

You will need to open it in YouTube…

And Erick Thohir arrived in Qatar to talk to the FIFA representatives…

Depends on your point of view and preference.

Asian Games-Basically the Olympics for Asia. I will say the 2018 event went better than I thought it would considering how much of an idiot Anies was leading up to. Downside is GBK isn't properly maintained since then.

SEA Games-A tiny tournament which is a blink and you miss it. If Indonesia wants to host this, then so be it.

U20 World Cup, similar to the Olympics in terms of the age requirements, but don't allow 3 players to older than 20. Much bigger and can give an idea how the regular NT is going to be. This isn't exactly an academy set up.

Oh and for a 'youth' tournament, Spain had a stacked squad. Yes I was there and got to cross going to an Olympic event off my bucket list.

Following today’s meeting between FIFA President Gianni Infantino and President of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) Erick Thohir, FIFA has decided, due to the current circumstances, to remove Indonesia as the host of the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2023™. A new host will be announced as soon as possible, with the dates of the tournament currently remaining unchanged. Potential sanctions against the PSSI may also be decided at a later stage.

FIFA would like to underline that despite this decision, it remains committed to actively assisting the PSSI, in close cooperation and with the support of the government of President Widodo, in the transformation process of Indonesian football following the tragedy that occurred in October 2022. Members of the FIFA team will continue to be present in Indonesia in the coming months and will provide the required assistance to the PSSI, under the leadership of President Thohir.

A new meeting between the FIFA President and the PSSI President for further discussions will be scheduled shortly.

“We lament that the conditions we demanded were declined by Fifa,” Muhadjir said, as quoted by kompas.com. Without specifying the demands, Muhadjir said they had been made out of consideration for the country’s 1945 Constitution, which states that the nation stands against any form of colonialism.'
