Curious. Do you spend your life hiding under your bed or in some type of closet just in case the sky falls? Sure seems like it. Guess what, the day will come and you die. Why not get out from under the security blanket and just go live a little while you can.

What you are saying doesn't make sense at all. I am not afraid of the sky falling. This thread is about Electric vehicles, and it strayed off into talking about other energy sources. Some people promote Nuclear energy, and some do not. I have repeatedly ask for people to come up with idea's about safe, reliable, energy sources that don't pollute, irradiate, or depend on precious metals, that can be used by a few countries that can control them.
How about you contribute with your idea's, about this subject. Don't be afraid!

A Nuclear meltdown is in no way, compared to an airplane crash!

A lot more peolple have died in airplane crashes than an irradiation incident.

I have repeatedly ask for people to come up with idea's about safe, reliable, energy sources that don't pollute, irradiate, or depend on precious metals, that can be used by a few countries that can control them.

Never said there was no concern. The numbers in Wikipedia are just guesses based on what we think we know and how things might go in the future. At this point there is no evidence of those kinds of numbers. I'm not sure how strong people think a nuclear power plant is capable of. Would take dozens to equal one large bomb or warhead. Japan was bombed twice directly but people still live there. Wildlife in flourishing arond Chernobyl. Dozens and dozens of nuclear test all around the world but people are back in those test areas. A nuclear power plant is a sparkler compared to a nuclear weapons dynamite. Maybe we need to blame Hollywood?

I don't think that would the case if you counted all the airplane crahes with losses and payouts to families as well as possible damage on the ground agaist all the irradiation incident clean ups. I think plane crashes would be far more costlier.

You've convinced me! I'm going to go out, and see if I can find more irradiated food, kitchen products, etc. Maybe, if I'm lucky, I can find some radioactive toothpaste. I'm sure my teeth would ( come out) looking so much brighter!

Back in the day I was one of those guys who had to go into nuclear storage areas to monitor for any radiation. There was always some munitions guy who tried to scare the new visitors by hitting the bombs with a hammer. Smart guys like myself who were trained knew full well that if there was any radiation present it in the impossible chance the gammer actually released any radiation it was close to harmless. It is alpha radiation until compressed and alpha radiation can't even penetrate typing paper. No, you don't want it in your skin but easy to stay out if harm's way. When you read in the past that a plane lost a bomb or was dropped unplanned somewhere, we would have been the ones first in and the suits worn are very thin. They worried more about an adversary getting their hands in them than any radiation threat. We were also the guys who had to fly with hazardous chemicals because some general back in time figured we could be on scene if the plane crashed. Idiot.

Safe reliable energy for me is when I turn something electrical on, it comes on, doesn't blow up, and doesn't electrocute me. Get that far and I'm good. I can't change the world and so not going to try. The only thing I seen of tree huggers is bark burns and a few beetles in their pants. I can breath the air, swim in the ocean, enjoy the green foliage around me. It rains in the rainy season and is dryer in the dryer season. I get no flooding where I live and I am higher than the tsunami height from the big Krakatoa eruption.

I live in what I call my little piece of America. It's not Trump's America, it's not Biden's America, it's not Obama's America nor any president who came before. It is my America. Everyone is welcome to visit but don't plan on staying. Visitors get more freedoms than the US offers and taking those freedoms you will never be judged unless you bring a closed mind and the inability to respect others that are in my little bit of America. Doom and gloom are never welcomed and if one wants to run around naked, nobody cares. You see, we live our lives as we wish to live. Probably not a lot of time left so we are not going to worry about all the doom and gloom some people keep briadcasting. We're content.

That looks after both local pollution in cities, and remote pollution around power stations.
As I understand it, Prabowo is pushing for large scale solar farms and as many EVs on the road as possible.
Apart from cleaner air, that would reduce Indonesia's exposure to oil wars, oil prices, and oil politics.

Don't forget, those solar farms will need lots and lots of batteries. Are you sure that is going in the right direction? Given that they are useless at night and have a severely impacted output without direct sunlight you don't want too many rainy days in a row.

I support going more solar also! Yes they will need batteries for nighttime backup, but battery technology is improving at a rapid pace. Plus the solar panels being built now, are producing electricity even on cloudy days.

True, but it is a good start in the right direction! Why not start installing panels, on every roof top, that's suitable. The more solar panels installed, the less dependence on fossil, and nuclear energy! I say support the scientists to come up with more efficient panels, and batteries!

Supporting solar is even worse for the enviroment in the long run. Solar Panels need precious materials and have a high carbon footprint to start with. They also have a finte life, are expensive and will need to be properly recycled in a few years. Add to that the ridiculous amout of battereis needed and I think you have hurt the enviroment more than you have helped it.

You are forgetting that solar technology is advancing at a rapid pace. It is not true, that they only last a few years. I had panels that still produced sufficient energy after 20 years! Also the battery technology is advancing also. They will become lighter, last longer, and hold more power longer.
It is a good idea to use energy from the Sun! It's free. And abundant almost everyday.

Many things use precious metals, computers, hospital equipment, aircraft, automobiles, spacecraft. Do you want to stop using those also?
Please give us some ideas, of new alternative energy sources, other than fossil fuels, and Nuclear?
