I guess they want to spread it about a bit more? Seems crazy.
Ive seen this mentioned on CNN Indonesia but not officially. Lets hope it doesnt actually go through

What?! I read a very confusing CNN article about it being closed "for tourist purpose" - like who comes to Jakarta as a tourist anyway (esp right now). Love how they make these sudden decisions without any warning. Thankfully I have no imminent travel plans.....

This is all a mistake apparently - you can fly to CGK:

SIARAN PERS
003/SP/KSIHU/II/2022

Pelaku Perjalanan Luar Negeri untuk Perjalanan Wisata Juga Dapat Melalui Bandara Soekarno Hatta, Bandara Ngurah Rai dan Bandara di Kepulauan Riau.

1. Sehubungan dengan adanya Siaran Pers Ditjen Perhubungan Udara, tanggal 6 Februari 2022, yang berjudul Kemenhub Terbitkan SE Baru Perjalanan Luar Negeri (SE Kemenhub Nomor 11 Tahun 2022), serta untuk menghindari kesalahan persepsi agar setiap pihak memiliki pemahaman yg sama, maka kami menyampaikan koreksi atas siaran pers yang semula berbunyi:

... pembatasan pintu masuk (entry point) bagi WNI dan WNA pelaku perjalanan luar negeri dengan tujuan wisata, hanya dapat melalui Bandara I Gusti Ngurah Rai (Bali), Bandara Hang Nadim (Batam), dan Bandara Raja Haji Fisabilillah (Tanjung Pinang).

seharusnya berbunyi,

.... pembatasan pintu masuk (entry point) bagi WNI dan WNA pelaku perjalanan luar negeri dengan tujuan wisata, dapat melalui Bandara I Gusti Ngurah Rai (Bali), Bandara Hang Nadim (Batam), dan Bandara Raja Haji Fisabilillah (Tanjung Pinang).

3. Saat ini Ditjen Perhubungan Udara tengah melakukan revisi SE Nomor 11 Tahun 2022, dengan tetap mengacu pada SE Satgas Covid-19 Nomor 4 Tahun 2022.

Quite the "hanya" there. Looks like the clarification returns things to 'normal', ie. how they were for the past week.

First they said no then revised it to say yes. Probably those quarantine hotel investors didn't like the idea someone may be losing some fast cash and told the giv to reverse it.

You can still fly to Manado twice a week and quarantine in one of our many resorts on the islands accredited for quarantine purpose. Much better and relaxed than quarantining in a Jakarta city hotel. However you probably have to book in advance since quite a lot of people have understood that JKT is not the only entry point and that Manado has good connection flight to Bali and many other cities in Indonesia after your quarantine is done. And you would get pork and booze at every meal if those are part of your diet.

And you won't be tricked in whatever scam... If you test positive you won't be transferred anywhere else than in the Covid ward... but still may get pork (and booze).

The quarantine hotels in Bali apparently will have people being able to roam about freely in the hotel. The staff will sleep/stay on the premises so they are segregated from the general population. Yeah, can't think of any holes in this situation...lol.

It's all a bit silly, with local transmission cases now in the high 30k/day, what's another couple hundred from abroad...

According to [this page] there are 5 hotels that have a "Bubble" system in place and a long list of Bali hotels that are ready to do standard quarantine confined to your room. That's good news that there is an option, because the 5 doing the Bubble are very expensive.

This document from Viceroy Ubud has a map showing about half of the resort designated for quarantine bubble: https://www.viceroybali.com/wp-cont...roy-Bali-Quarantine-Activities-Web-050222.pdf

Locked in one room for 4 nights wouldn't be so bad if it had a balcony with a nice sea-view, unlike Jakarta where balconies are rare and the view not so relaxing.

I like that they have a separate area for "non-quarantine" guests. It's probably like the "pee free" section of a public swimming pool.

I wonder how much longer Indonesian quarantine will continue.
Philippines has just opened up for tourists.

Other countries in this region with no compulsory hotel quarantine include Cambodia, Timor Leste, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, PNG, Malaysia, Singapore [although some of these do have several hoops that visitors would have to jump through]

Stronger restrictions include:
Laos (2 days quarantine while awaiting test result, followed by 5 days at own residence), Myanmar (foreigners still banned)

So Indonesia seems to be the 2nd strictest in South East Asia, after Myanmar.

Yes I agree I think by end of month will see some significant reductions

It's everywhere now anyway so why the need to close early etc. Omni is infectious but not deadly so perhaps a la war of the worlds, our own bacteria have killed covid and turned it into a nasty flu

Either way closing a restaurant 1 hour earlier doesn't do anything

It's less deadly but more infectious so the result is increased fatalities. So deadly enough to warrant caution. But yeah closing something an hour earlier won't have much effect.

I remember in previous waves the Jakarta burial totals were up to 200/day (2020) and 400/day (Delta wave 2021). Now it's around 120/day in the middle of this Omicron wave (compared to the long term average of around 100-110). Partly because so many are vaccinated and partly because it is less deadly. In any case, there doesn't seem much point in hotel quarantine.
