North Korea firing missiles into the sea...

well, there is a new contender

Nope he is still #1...

Personally I get a bit more concerned about this than the nutcase in NK.

Even other Arab states are calling him out now. His only friend right now seems to be Russia and there is never a commitment with them.

Yeah seems he wants to push all the buttons he can find to annoy anyone in Western Europe. Perhaps time to show a bit of love to Güllen and have a real coup to sort this out.

Does Turkey have any access to weapons of mass destruction?
I went to Istanbul and Athens once and found very nice people. (the subsequent cruise ship, crewed by Greeks, is another disappointing story)...
then I went to Cyprus and found the Greeks and Turks were at each other's throats over an island that doesn't belong to either.
Will this nationalist animosity and religious fervor ever stop...or will, in USA, Reps and Dems ever reconcile their differences?

If we canceled religion and national pride would the world be more safe.... or are we humans destined to destroy ourselves?

It's nearly noon here so I'm off to the pub for a pint and a pie...and hopefully find the answer to my questions without needing to look into the bottom of an empty glass...

Who knows...maybe I'll find a wise man there....:suspicious:

Not sure if they have any weapons of mass destruction but I do believe their army is 2nd in size from all the NATO countries.

Yep, about 650,000 personnel and second after the US. WMDs. Capable F16 Pilots and air defense systems.

I don't think I would like to be a NK rocket scientist, it appears the latest rocket blew up on take off, be a bit embarrassing if it had a nuclear war head, I expect Fatty Kim is throwing all his toys out of his pram wondering who he can fire next, literally.

Well the Ottoman army I believe was the largest Army in Europe at that time, caused chaos in the Balkans, tried to invade the rest of Europe, fortunately failed, perhaps Erdogan wants to try his luck again, History repeats itself in told.

it just suddenly struck me that many of Indonesia's problems could be solved if not for the fact that there are no caravan (trailer) parks .....

So what is next with NK, the US and China. Will this end in conflict?

In the short term, let's see what NK does this week end. Will they do a nuclear test or not? And if they do, what will Trump do? Will he do good on his promise or will have NK called him on his bluff?

I'm hoping that they will just do a missile test shot to the sea this week end because they have to do something (it's Kim Il Sung's birth anniversary after all) but give up on an immediate nuclear test thanks to the pressure from China.

Trump is playing a dangerous game. It could either be brilliant or absolutely reckless, depending on how you see it. The 59 missiles in Syria, the largest non-nuclear bomb dropped in Afghanistan this week and the repositioning of the Carl Vinson Carrier near Korea are all show of force directed at NK. This is all a game of bluff, we just don't know how far either Trump or Kim Jung Un is willing to go.

One thing for sure is that I didn't know it was possible to out-putin Vladimir Putin, but it seems Trump did just that. Extremely scary.

I honestly believe China has sat up and noticed a few things. I don't think the Cruse missles or the MOAB was as much for N. Korean to take notice as it was for China to take notice. I think they have and have people in N. Korea right now telling Kim he should back off. Probably explaining that Trump is a crazier man then him. Of course, Kim may want to prove China wrong and do something stupid.

Kim knows better then to be the first with a nuclear weapon so he would start with conventional which would rain down on S. Korea and possibly some towards Japan. Kim would then know he was going to lose the war big time and in a show of desperation, probably try to launch any nuclear weapons that he may have left. Any way you look at it, N. Korea would lose the war and China is fully aware of that and fear what their price would be at it's end.

I think you've articulated the situation accurately FP and why Kim has seen a way to slither-by with his nuclear ambition.

IMO....President Trump is a dangerous man but it did need someone to push-back, and the only real way is to get the Chinese to recognize their dilemma if they continue the status quo. If Japan was targeted it would immediately realize a re-arming of that nation with USA help...the last thing China wants.
I hope Donald articulated that to Zi as well as you have....maybe send 'the Don' a copy of your post....:thumb:

This would be my headline :

Duel of the Despicable Despots

.
It will be bend or break, probably this weekend yes.

And if the NK-ans do fire a missile now, I am convinced Trump will get it out of the air. And then it will hail on Seoul. Worst case scenario of course but I think there is more than a 80% chance of war. And then the NATO countries have no choice.

And the Chinese? They are fed up but all pro Chinese in the NK administration have been put against the wall not so long ago. They have no real influence anymore.

Where the hell does mr pudgy get his hair cut, it's really scary how they all clap in unison, all stop clapping at the same time, it's really quite weird to watch. It must be a thing for present leaders to have strange haircuts
