In a bold move, today KPK has named Setya Novanto a suspect in the eKTP case. Novanto is the chairman of the powerful Golkar Party as well as House Speaker of the DPR. I'm not 100% sure, but this is possibly the highest level official that KPK has ever named a suspect.
This also explains DPR's recent fevered attempt at weakening the KPK.

Hopefully there is follow through with some consequences. But at least he was named a suspect.

KPK has a really good (too good) conviction rate. It is nearly 100%. Jawa Pos declared that Setnov (nickname for Setya Novanto) is finished.

It is great the KPK are going after Setya Novanto. It is the 4 year sentences where the criminals keep the money which does not appear as much of a deterrent/or punishment.

Marliem claimed to have a recording of the conversations he had with politicians who allegedly orchestrated the e-ID graft case, including House of Representatives speaker and Golkar Party chairman Setya Novanto

He has died from an allegedly self inflicted wound after helding two people (his wife and kid) hostage in a house.

This isn't a major corruption case but the KPK caught the director of sea transportation at the Ministry of Transportation with about RP 20 billion cash. However, it looks like the KPK messed up this time as he reports the money was all to be donated to churches and orphanages. Now the orphans won't get all this cash (ya right). That is why I love Indonesian gov't officials, they are always looking out for the little guy.

I liked the bit in the Jakarta Post where , "He admitted to having misappropriated money received from businessmen working on projects for the ministry's sea transportation division.

"I apologize to the public; hopefully this won't happen again," Antonius said.

Does he mean he hopes he won't misappropriate money received from businessmen again or he hopes he won't get caught again?
