An Indonesian and a Malaysian civil servant were sent to study at a university in the US. They became fast friends. After they graduated, they promised to keep in touch and visit each other in their home countries. Time passes, and both quickly rose in their respective governments, eventually becoming important officials. One day the Indonesian official decided it was time to keep his promise and visit his old friend. So he flies to Malaysia to do so. To his surprise, his friend drives a luxury German car and lives in a mansion in the most expensive neighborhood, with an expansive view of the city. Curiosity got to him and he asked his friend, "How can you possibly afford this on a public servant salary?".

His friend gave a knowing smile and said, "Follow me!". They both went to the top of the mansion.

The friend then points to a building in the distance, "See that hospital?".
"Yes."
He points again to another building, "See that school?"
"Sure."
And one more time he points at the airport," See that brand new airport you flew in from?"
"Yes! What's your point?"
The Malaysian smiles broadly, points at his chest and says "Ten percent!".

The Indonesian was very impressed. When it was time for him to go back he says, "Next year you should come visit me!".

So the Malaysian does. To his amazement, his Indonesian friend drives a Ferrari, lives in a literal palace many times more opulent than his mansion. So in turn he asks his Indonesian friend, "How can you possibly afford this on a public servant salary?".

His friend gave a knowing smile and said, "Follow me!". They both went to the top of the palace.

The friend then points into the distance, "See that hospital?".
He squints very hard, but finally say "No?"
He points again in another direction, "See that school?"
"Um....still no."
And one more time he points far away," See that brand new airport you flew in from?"
"I didn't fly into a new airport, it was a dilapidated airport straight out from the sixties!!" he exclaims in frustration.

The Indonesian smiles broadly, points at his chest and says "One hundred percent!".

Don't expect much out of the circus
But exposing it to public is a good sign

I really don't see how this country can progress. This is what continues year after year and then the grooming of the next generation in the same system. It is hard for me to fathom this level of greed with no connection to the people they are supposed to serve.
It's not and isn't going to for the foreseeable future either. Just wait and see how these LRT, MRT and train projects turn out—if they even do at all.

Setya Novanto reported to House's ethic's council. He may have "lied" saying he didn't know some of the people implicated in the e-KTP when he did. Oh my God..........Setya may have possibly lied..........well if he did I imagine being reported to the ehtics council will straighten out any bad behaviour he may have exhibited. Other then a few possible lies I imagine he is on the straight and narrow.:lalala:

Talking about the poor implementation of the e-KTP, here you see Ibu Risma, the mayor of Surabaya, talking to her (IT) team about the process etc. As you can see, she is not happy.

She is a very emotional lady btw, there have been quite some instances with public outbursts etc. Even with threads -while in tears- to resign. Very un-Indonesian.

My wife still hasn't got her KTP yet, over 4 months now, she got a tatty piece of paper in lieu, tell her it's valid 6 months, she went to the office, failed, oddly I got mine in 3 weeks, it's not an e-KTP, I'm thinking they will never sort this screw up out, you cannot believe the incredible stupidity that someone could think they could get away with this fiddle, well perhaps you could, this is indonesia

The DPR (+ House of Representatives) has voted and decided that they can intervene in the KPK investigation. And thus block it where deemed 'necessary'. Of course it is just a 'right of inquiry'.

This stuff is just so "criminal" it makes a person sick. This kind of crap is never ending and why countries some countries will never get developed. It is really too bad for the ordinary Indonesian trying to make a living and wanting there lives to improve.

Just glad they finally named him. Now, has enough of the teflon wore off to actually convict him? There will be a heightened resistance coming from the DPR and other associated agencies and political parties. He has a lot of friends in the DPR who have probably been on the recieving end of some favors by him and of course, the DPR do not like anyone picking on any of their members, especially their speaker. Stay tuned for some fire works I think.

I'm not 100% sure, but this is possibly the highest level official that KPK has ever named a suspect.
It is. in the structure of RI the ketua DPR RI is RI 6. Akil Mochtar, the former ketua MK was "only" RI 9. However, Setya Novanto is for the moment only a suspect while Akil has been sentenced and jailed.

In the hierarchy of the Pejabat Negara there is only Zulkifli Hasan (RI 5), JK (RI 2) and wife (RI 4) and Joko (RI 1) and wife (RI 3) above Setya.
