How do you guys invest?

Quite many of these government bonds (staatsobligatie, Staatsanleihe, emprunt d'État) are available here. Often 3-5 years, also shariah versions exist. Think we discussed it before but kind of difficult to search for something like ‘ORI’ on the forum.
Found some remarks .. in this thread 'How do you guys invest? Post #477

If your credit card gives you cash reward, just use it and pay it off before the bank add interest.

Mine gave me 2- 5% cash reward back depending on the purchase. I pay the balance off each time I get pay check (twice a month). Never pay the interest. I collect the reward within one year. By the end of the year I have cash reward collected normally around US$ 2K.
Cashback on credit and debit cards is one aspect, but there is also the benefit of zero percent interest on purchases with some credit cards. People can enjoy interest free payments for several years during the promotional period. When the promotion ends, simply pay off the balance in full, and they will not pay any interest.

Of course the best investment is zero balance on credit cards
Just from another point of view; it depends on the type of credit card you have and how well to play with it. In A few cases have a maximum balance close to the limit on your creditcard is your best interest to make money. There is a strategy called ‘stoozing’ that involves using a credit card for arbitrage. People call it to beat the bank on their own games. You essentially borrow the bank’s money for free using creditcard, save it in higher interest saving, and clear the whole balance when the promotional period is ending, while keeping the interest for yourself. Search it and you will find plenty of information on this. All you need is a zero fee, zero interest balance transfer card, typically available through promotional offers.

I understand this opportunity might not be common in Indonesia, but if you have opportunities to live in both countries, you can take advantage of it when the opportunity comes up.

I forgot to mention something obvious. Maintaining a balance (instead of having a zero balance) on your credit card, like paying for anything that can be charged to the card without incurring fees on your end, gives you at least one month of interest free credit. As long as you clear the balance by the next statement, you don’t pay any interest, which essentially means you are getting a one-month interest free loan.

Another benefit in Indonesia is that, on certain occasions, you can get discounts at specific restaurants partnered with credit card providers as part of promotional offers. These discounts can range from 10-30%. What’s not to like? I know some people in Indonesia who carry more than a dozen credit cards just to take advantage of such offers.

The only people who should not carry a balance on their credit cards are those who lack self-control and view the credit limit as free money that doesn’t need to be repaid. These are the individuals who often fall into the debt trap.

My spouse is one of those (hundred?)thousands here who had 12+ credit cards (I had to insist she cuts down on that and insisted on no more that 6) and gets all discounts at restaurants etc.

Nice but for me completely irrelevant when talking about investing, it’s a bit pocket change compared to the rest.

I have one credit card only. Wife has 2.

BCA is around 3,25% ... Check Superbank or Allobank.
ORI (Obligasi Republiek Indonesia).

Mastercard and Visa both have annual renewal fees. Are there credit cards which do not have such a fee otherwise by the time you pay for 12 card renewals I am not sure you would have much pocket change?

Can anyone recommend banks with decent interest rate for time deposits, preferred bank with FDIC insured
In Indonesia there is a BPR/Bank Perkreditan Rakyat/Rural Bank type , usually small banks with no internet banking or ATM card , that are allowed to offer/usually do offer higher interest but still having limited warranty from the Indonesian Government (LPS) like normal banks , just now : maximum interest : 4.25% (normal banks) , 6.75% (BPR) ; maximum of IDR 2 billion per customer per bank (according https://lps.go.id/faq/) .

"Digital Banks" usually offer better interest rate than normal banks . A high interest one is Bank Seabank (from Shopee's Group) which offers 3.5% for the saving account (daily liquidity) , 5% (1 month) , 5.5% (3 months) and 6% (6 months) - only people with KTP can have account . I am afraid their interests are above the LPS limit .

From https://www.seabank.co.id/pusat-ban...tabungan-deposito-giro-di-seabank-dijamin-lps

Are savings products (savings/deposits/current accounts) at SeaBank guaranteed by LPS?

PT. Bank Seabank Indonesia is a participating bank in the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) guarantee and customer savings balances in the Bank are guaranteed based on the provisions of LPS.
Customer savings product balances that exceed the maximum savings value and/or exceed the interest rate guaranteed by LPS, or do not meet other requirements in accordance with the current LPS Regulations, are entirely the responsibility of the customer. However, there is no need to worry, SeaBank offers attractive savings and deposit interest rates while still upholding the principles of prudence and security for customers. And we also wholeheartedly maintain the bank's reputation.

Thanks for the info, but the requirements to open the account:
"do not transact with accounts created in the United States and do not act for and on behalf of United States citizens.”

Requirements to open a Seabank bank account ...
Why is that?

Does anyone have a recommendation which bank or broker to use for investing in Indonesian stocks (saham)? A broker with not too high fees and spreads and with a customer-friendly user interface?

Planning to invest in shares on the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX)? Make sure to learn this first before diving in too deep.
Stock Theft, Mahfud MD & Coordinating Minister Yusril Speak Out. Dragging Political Elites?

From this video, the stock theft occurred by altering the name. It is important to note that both the former and current Minister of Justice and Human Rights have confirmed this.

This could only happen if all involved parties, including the regulator, stock exchange, ministry officials, and the courts were acting in collusion.

For those unfamiliar with stock valuation, investing in index funds may be a better option. This is also a recommendation made by Warren Buffett.

Stocks and indices don’t always rise; there are periods of corrections or even market crashes. However, historically, they have recovered over time. Take a look at the performance of the S&P 500. If your goal is long-term investment, is there any risk-free option, such as government bonds, gilts, or government-backed savings, that can beat it?

During market corrections or crashes, such as the one caused by COVID-19 in March 2020, those unfamiliar with the stock market often panic and sell their investments. Looking at the performance of the S&P 500 since then, don’t you think those who sold in panic now regret their decision?. Not a financial advice.
