Extended SIX weeks more

The article does say maybe but personally i think its inevitable that PKMM is extended. I am sure they wont do 6 weeks in one go though and i expect a 2 week extension to be announced just before the end of this current PKMM. It could well end up being 6 more weeks when its finished though.

They have to balance the people who will protest against an immediate declaration of six more weeks against the people who will protest prolonged uncertainty, don't they? The uncertainty is worse in every way I can think of, but then the people who don't like uncertainty are less likely to take to the streets to demand that the government wave its magic wand of Covid removal.

Why all the grief? I was asked to supply the source and I did. First I got knocked for not supplying the source. Then when I do you say it's all bollocks?!!
It's not me saying it. It (and me) even say "might be extended".
Not sure why everyone is on my back.

Multiple news sources have reported on this. So go complain to them. Not me.
It might all be b.s. or not but it's only what they say in the news

Fyi Australia now is looking to extend their lockdown too. No I didn't make that up either

Australia is not a good example. Except on nanny state basis .....

I agree. Just saying every day another country is contemplating to extend their lockdown again.

Eventually you have to put a price on a life and say sod it, everything is open. Stay home if you want or work if you want.
Because now approaching 2 years of a global economic shutdown and things have not improved. Even the vaccines now suddenly have issues or need boosters etc.
I guess let's see eventually the herd immunity might kick in.

Btw what are the dengue and malaria deaths this year? Still more than corona?

I think the annual Indonesian deaths from Dengue and Malaria combined are well under 5,000 so can't really compare to Covid.

The Covid story has become a religion....

With it's zealots who don't recognize or accept another religion or God forbid, being atheist....

As any religion it justifies anything and everything without logical, technical, scientific proof....

Important is to "believe" ....

And the non believers will be outcasted.

As simple as that.

We are having "ordinary flu" vaccine since over 20 years, but still the flu is not eradicated. And some hope that a 12 months old vaccine, generated and tested without proper process will save the world ?

But, hey, I don't care what religious people believe, just don't try to push it on me....

I agree
I believe its a real thing but it got blown out of all proportion at the beginning and now they cant seem to put it back in the box, mostly the people who die have other ailments also usually lungs, chest, breathing etc, not so many young healthy people, more die from dengue, malaria, cancer etc

Anyway lets not get into that, its a nasty shitty virus and people are dying but also at some point they have to just say sorry, fuk it, we have to open the borders, hotels etc

Its not as if millions are waiting to fly into Jakarta right now, even businessmen, Maybe some want to go to Bali for some reason. But it still will take months to get back to 2019 levels

Well, at first, I thought everybody was overreacting to what was basically seasonal flu... It seemed that way for a few months, but this second wave is different. This is purely anecdotal, but here we go...
In 44 years, I have never known anybody who died of seasonal flu. Just in the past week, my wife has lost 2 coworkers (aged 55 & 45), and her auntie (father's s-i-l) died yesterday at age 69.
I mention ages because the first wave seemed to mostly kill people who were already past their actuarial life expectancy; the current wave is less discriminate in its victims.
How does this relate to extending the "lockdown"? I hate masks and lockdowns as much as anybody does, but combined with vaccination, they may be the only way to end the carnage.

I agree but I do think they should have made a bigger effort with the vaccines - targeted at key regions and sectors (like they did with grab/ gojek and healthcare workers) - key areas where the most money is generated (e.g. Jakarta and surrounds) could have been a lot more vaxxed. This is where the GR scheme could have really been a game-changer.

I'm sounding a bit too captain hindsight for my liking, and I know that vaccines have been really hard to obtain so maybe this just wasn't possible (I have a feeling they didn't really try very hard though).
From the very beginning the government has failed with any vaccination plan. Of course, they never had a vaccination plan since they were just sweeping it all under the rug.
As for Jakarta and "key regions" being primary targets I say bull shit. I am so tired of hearing about jakarta and vaccines and how they are such a priority. Most of this nation has basically been ignored when it comes to who gets vaccinated. It is like Indonesia is only made up of Jakarta, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta. Sure, populations should normally make a difference but since Indonesia is so mobil and Indonesians big on social gatherings, population factors don't apply. Add the fact the government can't or won't enforce regulations and all you get is areas with big populations being targeted but does nothing positive. People just keep moving and socializing.

I live in Bandar Lampung. We are under the new restrictions. Businesses seem to be following the rules as for being open or not and the hours they can be if allowed to be open. The roads are still busy. Some streets get closed but they are only the ones with cameras. Most likely if anyone looked it would look like the police are doing their jobs. No one gets stopped and checked to see if they are allowed to be on the roads. Construction and maitanence be it at businesses or just home repairs goes on. As for vaccinations, that's a joke all by itself. A sad, sad joke. While we have had both shots, we have been attempting to find vaccines for some others. We have contacted assorted Puskesmas, hospitals, and local health ministries personel. All were asked about vaccine availability. All answer the same. There are NO vaccines available in Bandar Lampung. They are all waiting on them but have no idea as to when they will be available. The only place that gave anything leaning towards positive is Kina Farma who said they were getting some soon and will offer them for Rp 300,000 each shot. The government's game for profit. I seen Atlantis mentioned his his kids were in a que if 500. The biggest que here as I understand it has been 200. Still, we keep hearing about Jakarta. You can even get a vaccination at the airports.

This government seems to be willing to kill the people of the nation if not in Jakarta or one if the other privleged cities. Then they can lift restrictions, open up business, and all the ones who traveled away can return starting the 3rd wave.

Isn't it time to address this desease as a national threat and not just a few cities. They preach how many vaccines they have on hand but having them on hand doesn't get them in arms. Indonesia is preaching how every country needs to address this and get everyone vaccinated but turn around and won't vaccinate their own nation.

It appears to be true. Here is the link:

I hope I'm wrong, but PPKM so far is making things worse...as people forced not to go anywhere, they stay at home...but in highly populated areas, people probably talk to each other more....hang out with the neighbors...one of the employees in my company died yesterday, diagnosed with covid (while staying home/not working) and he was one of the ones not vaccinated due to high blood pressure/heart issues, still quite young too at around mid 40s...wife called the manager and informed him that she also is positive....not sure about the kids. I predict the numbers will be higher due to family/neighborhood clusters....wonder if the government will trace this and share the info. I know that the backroads in between people's houses, jakarta's kampungs are used by motorcyclist to get around since the major roads are blocked. I know for sure an area close to my old house, people/moms/kids usually just sit in front of their houses and play (no masks of course).

Let the people with negative tests go to work, open the economy with strict 50% capacity. Keep a good leash on those satpol pp from possibly extorting money from (small/medium) businesses...focus on vaccination as soon as possible, or we'll be screwed from both ends...the covid and the dying economy.

Hey Hey. Bandar Lampung got a vaccine shipment. 600 doses total with only a million people waiting for them. Said anyone due to get 2nd will have to wait. Only for 1st jabs this time. After dividing them up to Peskusmas and some privleged health clinics, places got like 30 each. The shipment came as a surprise to everyone. In the mean time we lost our 25th UNILA staff member and someone with employement by the office in charge of issuing health certificates along with a port employee have been detained for selling fake documents to bus travelers heading to Java.

We have been in this so called lock down since the 5th or 6th. Yesterday the 15th, they got around to closing some basars.

Extended to the end of July, at least.

Looks like 2 more weeks of wfh. My boss asked about whether I would prefer to be given part of the school's allotment of onsite workers, but I am getting productive use out of the gaming pc my son and I built 2 years ago. It turns out that a 1440p monitor can easily show a grid of 4 separate browser windows; go figure!
