Indonesia surpassed 10,000 new positive cases today. People seem unwilling to admit that we have utterly failed to contain the pandemic. On a personal note, I got a rapid test with a "Non Reactive" result today, as I am required to do before reporting to work on Monday. Our students are still learning from home, and teachers will have a 3 days at school / 2 days working from home schedule.

It's already been imported without BPOM use authorization. Over 3 million ready doses are already in Indonesia, and the raw materials for about 30(?) million more to be produced by PT Bio Farma.
1.3 million has been distributed to 34 provinces.
MUI Hallal approval has also been obtained.

Komisi Fatwa MUI telah selesai melakukan audit terhadap vaksin COVID-19 Sinovac yang diproduksi China. MUI mengatakan vaksin tersebut halal dan suci.

Alternative news from Russia...

From the quoted article:

UPDATE: Azevedo’s death has not been linked to her taking the jab, the Portuguese government said in a statement on January 5, citing “preliminary data” of the forensic examination. The exact cause of her death was not revealed due to legal reasons, but the authorities said that, “considering concerns and doubts raised” over the incident, they felt bound to report that there was not “any relationship between the death and the vaccine.”

With about 20 million doses of the vaccine delivered so far, one needs to expect statistically that a few people will die shortly after receiving a dose, just because people do die.

It is perhaps also worth remembering statistically speaking...correlation does not imply causation. For example:

Yes, indeed. I shared the link after RT updated with the quote you mentioned.

From a mainstream media...
A new CDC study published Wednesday found that people receiving Covid-19 vaccines experience anaphylaxis at a rate 10 times higher compared with the flu vaccine.

“The anaphylaxis rate for Covid-19 vaccines may seem high compared to flu vaccines, but I want to reassure you that this is still a rare outcome,”

For any of you or anyone you know returning to Indonesia, this is my experience and what roughly to expect.

1. While on board, connect to the wifi and fill out a health declaration form. You can also do this once you land as the eHac app crashes and filling the form online was super slow and kept giving me an error. I filled it as soon as we landed and were taxing to the gate. Didn't have a problem. Keep it and they can pull up the QR barcode.

2. When you land, go like you are going to immigration but they will stop you and you will sit in a chair to fill out a form basically asking for some basic information. They will ask for the pcr test, the QE barcode to scan.

3. After they scan the QR code, you will continue where there is another line where you go to a table, hand them your form, passport pcr test, and boarding pass. They mark a few things and hand everything back to you.

4. Go to immigration as normal.

5. Baggage claim as normal.

6. Go to the customs exit and TNI will be handing out bottle water, go through the nothing to declare line, straight through and you will turn left to exit.

7. Basically after you exit, you will be given a choice of what hotel you want as there are buses waiting. For me, Best Western was the only one but they had 2 locations. I picked Seyan. I did ask about the others on the list from Garuda and I was told they were all full.

8. Board the bus and some guy will give instructions. Basically it is 5 nights, 6 days stay at the hotel. You take the pcr test twice. 3 meals a day but you can order grab or go food. They will just leave it at the lobby.

9. Once you arrive to the hotel, you sit in a chair and fill out another form for the hotel. Then you do basic hotel check in. I had to pay 3.5j. Once you get your key, you are given a bracelet to wear. Basically to stay you are a quarantine guest.

10. Before I went to my room, I asked the hotel manager if I was allowed to leave my room. I was told after the first pcr test, I am allowed to leave my room and see my wife in the lobby who was going to bring me a few things.

11. For the pcr test at the hotel, you will still need to QR barcode so make sure you have it on your phone.

They provide you 1 bottle of water and a meal(smaller than most box lunches) for each meal and for your second day onwards, they give you a list of options to choose from for dinner and lunch. You can order Grab or GoJek where they will leave it at the lobby and someone might come and bring it to you. For you smokers, you can request a smoking room.

The only time I saw someone who was wearing more than a mask or gloves was when I went for the pcr test.

The Sinovac vaccine was only 65.3% effective in the Indonesian trial. Better than nothing, but not great compared to the other vaccines.

Rate of efficacy is calculated as follows:

People infected who were not vaccinated (NV) - People infected who were vaccinated (V)
______________________________________________________________________________________________
People infected who were not vaccinated (NV)

So if in the Indonesian trial of 1600 people, 100 got infected, and of these 74 were not vaccinated and 26 were vaccinated, then the efficacy rate would be (74-26)/74 = 48/74 = 0.65 (i.e. 65%).

Now for a different type of update.

If you are at the quarintine hotel after arriving to Indonesia and test positive after the first pcr test, they will call your room to inform you. You will then have to pack everything up and someone from the hotel staff will come to get you. They will be in a hazamat suit and take you out the back way to a cr to take you to a different hotel where you aren't allowed to leave the room, have any visitors, and are strongly encouraged not to order outside food. Oh and you can't smoke either.

Ya I tested positive and this is after 6 negatives tests between Dec1 to Jan 5(arrived Jan 8). Yes I feel fine and not showing any signs of covid, but it was a bit of a shock. Personally I am wondering if it was a false positive. I have to wait 2 days before I can get retested.

Have you seen more specific data of the study? Whether in Indonesia or other Sinovac trials? 65% is already pretty good, and I wonder also the severity of those cases? It would be significant if the vaccinated cases had lesser symptoms and lower hospitalization and mortality.

Yes, I believe the Astra Zeneca trial showed 70% efficacy but no serious cases. So if Sinovac is the same it would reduce deaths and hospitalisations significantly however it wouldn't completely stop the virus spread.
I don't believe detailed data has been released yet or peer reviewed.

Pants! I would be sending out for some smokes, then hanging out the window & hiding ALL trace evidence of ciggies- or paying the 1juta fine or whatever it is for smoking in a htl room ;)

65.3% efficacy for Sinovac CoronaVac.

Combined trial data has not been published yet.

For older population, they will be vaccinated with AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccine per Health Minister

In Brazil Sinovac is only 50.3% effective. Indonesia seems to have backed the worst of the vaccines, but it's his probably too late to back out and buy a better one instead.
