DON'T PANIC.... well, maybe a little bit.

Although my WNI wife worked with Radio Republic Indonesia for 25 years she takes no interest in the big issues so doesn't worry about economic problems , inflation, the Middle East etc. But in the absence of serious worries she elevates minor matters such as a broken glass getting a rating of about 5 on a scale of 0-10. A towel not hung up properly gets about 4. My forgetting to turn off a light is about 6. This trait seems to happen with so many people in the absence of catastrophies.
Welcome to Asia... Joking, I think it's same in the West.

In the event of catastrophies here they are very fatalistic. Religion has probably something to do with it ?

BTW, for statistical purposes, does she read books ?

"I think it's same in the West." Yes. it is.

"BTW, for statistical purposes, does she read books ?" She doesn't read books for statistical purposes or any other purpose. However, she does read an Islamic book occasionally in Arabic.
