Demonstrations planned against ... Coldplay?

The story of that deep purple trip is fascinating. I think one of the roadies fell down a lift shaft in the Sahid Jaya hotel, following an argument related to women. And of course the violence at the concert itself was brutal.
Interestingly the band has been back here since. In fact they came a few months ago but I don't think they played in Jakarta (and of course they have had so many personnel changes that I'm not sure if anyone from the deep purple three lineup that was in Jakarta that time is still playing with them, possibly just the drummer)

With 100 million albums sold worldwide, Coldplay are one of the best-selling music acts of all time. According to Fuse, they are the sixth-most awarded group in history, which includes the most Brit Award nominations and wins for a band. Other notable achievements include the seventh-highest-grossing tour of all time, three of the 50 highest-selling albums in the United Kingdom, the most number-one albums in the country without ever missing the top,[8] and becoming the first British group to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Coldplay are considered one of the most influential bands of the 21st century, with Forbes describing them as the standard for the current alternative music scene. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame included A Rush of Blood to the Head on their "200 Definitive Albums" list and the single "Yellow" is part of their "Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll" exhibition for being one of the most successful and important recordings in the music industry. Despite their popularity and impact, Coldplay have earned a reputation as polarizing music icons.

Oh come on don't give it all that "I've never heard of them" b.s. man

One of the biggest bands and live music acts in history for the last decade and you've never heard of them or any of their music? Seriously?
What next? You don't know who Beyonce is? Lol

Maybe you don't like their "bland" music but impossible to never have heard of them.

And most of their stuff is very upbeat and pop style. Hardly bland.

Anyway each to their own. By the way even 1juta barely gets you in to watch David Foster or Michael learns to rock. The bioskop is 250rb.

Gosh I wish I lived in your age still.
By the way the Rolling Stones are still alive. They charge even more!

How about Duran Duran feating Chic and Grace Jones? Just starting a small US tour soon if you fancy some Nile Rodgers hahahaha
No excuse for someone like me. I may as well have lived in a cave. I was never in the habit of listening to commercial radio so managed to stay quite ignorant about most of the contemporary music "legends." Yes, I know the Rolling Stones, Grace Jones and know of Beyonce though I couldn't name a single title for a $50,000 prize. Before coming to live in Indonesia I used to roller blade to Tina Turner, Gladys Knight and the Pips, the Porter Sisters, Marvin Gaye and hits of the 60s to 70s. As for price. anything that costs more than $20 to me is expensive. I guess I should be disqualified from making comments about 21st century music. ( Sorry, going back to the cave now to sleep)

I know hundreds & hundreds of teens here who have no clue who Beyonce is, nor do they have any interest in knowing.
Coldplay ; the teens know because they refer to the Chainsmokers- (with as an afterthought- Coldplay)
Rolling Stones will never die- the corpses will be embalmed & wheeled out on the stage hahaha!
Duran Duran- been there, seen them- meh, Chic were better, Grace Jones never did much for me other than the Pull up to the bumper thing.
I have been to loads of concerts over the years - from Duane Eddy to Scissor Sisters.
I think if Lil Nas X did a concert I would go cos he is fun. I also would love to dance around to Dua Lipa, but other than that the old pros seem to do well.
Lionel Ritchie did an ace concert, said he was doing it to pay for his divorce :D
Michael Jackson's "Bad" concert was meh, Genesis in the same era were brilliant, I'd love to see them again, but fear they would not live up to the standard they had in the 80s lol.
I think it is more about charisma than venue.
250,rb for the cinema :O you were robbed!
We deffo do not pay that & go in the fancy bit with the recliners or beds. If the prices have hiked to 250rb post covid then I won't be going again either :D
P.S Michael who? David who? never heard of em.

It's hard to believe, but depending on your age, your preferences and your media consume it's possible to not know a band/singer and so on.

At least when it comes to Coldplay there isn't much to be missed, except maybe certain tracks from their first two or three albums. That's just me though...

Imagine letting them know about Destiny's Child and how Beyonce started off with them.

Palendri: I love London, it's so wonderfully dirty. And The Beatles, I adore The Beatles. You know The Beatles?
Reggie Kray: No.
Ronald Kray: I beleive they know us.”

Lo and behold. Coldplay announce FOUR yes FOUR nights in Singapore Jan 2024

As I said before they don't want to come here.
300jt people. 50,000 one night

But 4 nights in a country with less than the population of Jakarta. Go figure.

They are probably banking on people from other countries coming to Singapore. Win-win for Coldplay and Singapore.

Maybe tickets are cheaper in Singapore - In Indonesia, there are too many resellers that buy bulk and resell.

Yes they are so its cheaper to fly there, stay in a hotel, get a better ticket for a better show than it is for the bleachers here ticket only

And have a functional public transport to get you there and back without macet causing chaos in the city from everyone taking taxis.

And in another "I told you so moment"

Coldplay now extended in SG and added ANOTHER night

So they can barely manage a full 24 hours in a country of 300 million people flying in and out the same day for a show of 50,000.

But happy to play 5 or 6 nights in a tiny Island of a few million only

Tells you everything about how Indonesia is viewed these days. Especially Jakarta.

Imagine having 7 nights of Coldplay here selling out, all the hotels and extra income.

But no. We have politics and religion ruining it all.
Argentina come without Messi
Maybe Coldplay come without Chris
