C318 but no ITAS

Hello all. I am seeking information / recommendation if anyone experienced it before. I have C318 visa issued onshore recently in mid August 2021, with intention to convert to ITAS then ITAP (ex WNI). Now my agent informed me, unable to get ITAS because lack of document (Letter from consulate abroad that I am no longer WNI). I need to exit the country at end of September 2021, for personal reason.
1. Anyone encountered same issue before with failed conversion from C318 visa ? Suggested solution ?

2. Do I need to now convert C318 to another visa ? Considering I need to exit country at end of Sept, and C318 has stay permit for up to 12 months (and its the Immigration who decided “unable to proceed to ITAS”). I don’t want any trouble with “overstay”. The agent said I need to apply for new onshore business visa. Needles to say their credibility is doubtful.

Hello Purple29, I am also an "Ex".

I think with 12 months in the visa, you shouldn't rush to convert to Kitas until all the documents are in order. In the meantime, try to write/email to the Embassy/Consulate abroad that you handed your passport over to ask for this letter. I had done this in the past for a different purpose than yours but got the letter I needed by attaching a photocopy of my old Indonesian passport as evidence that I was once a WNI.

If this fails, your best bet is to go to Direktorat Jenderal AHU and ask if they can issue you with a Surat Keterangan Kehilangan Kewarganegaraan. To get this letter is a bit of a hassle (the documents you have to submit have to be legalized by a notary and documents in English has to be translated by a sworn translator) and it takes a while to process (mine was 3 months). I didn't have the same situation as you but I had needed this letter in the past.

If you leave the country at the end of September will that cancel your existing visa?

Hello Sam, thank you for your reply. I think with this C318 visa, once you are in the country you can stay for 12 months. But you need to have the ITAS/KITAS that allows you to reenter the country (with the Covid immigration rule). I dont think I could get the letter in time before end of September. But I will double check to see if I need to convert to KITAS within 12 months, or within the 30 days to “lapor diri”. The answer will likely determine if this visa expires once I exit Indo. Another "Ex" here too. If you use the search function, I believe our fellow 'ex' Dannyboy posted his experience with AHU. Regarding the letter, it helps if you email the consulate ASAP so the case is still fresh.
