Bali deports expats

Just announcing Andrew Tate world tour first stop Bali featuring Nas Daily. Ironically he is Israeli. Came here spouting a load of racist cr*p and got to hang out with Santiago. Enough said

In fact this is rather telling.

So a Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment is telling us how tourism on Bali will be controlled. And the Balinese Tourism board also was allowed to say something. So they drew and force the (return to) roadmap from mass tourism to quality tourism?

So no reaction, no vision, no news from a Ministry of Tourism.

What is next, a Laoly -from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights- telling us how the TNI (Indonesian army) will be restructured?

In defense of Ministry of Tourism ... it is not easy to come up with a sound vision. In Amsterdam recently the locals are also fed up with too many tourists not behaving as they should, and the only thing they came up with are fines: https://www.telegraaf.nl/nieuws/156...iet-de-enige-trekpleisters-zijn-toeristen-zat

But maybe we can help, by mentioning some think directions:

  1. Spread tourists over other islands
  2. Enter a maximum number of tourists for Bali
  3. Numerus fixus for countries, like zero for Russia
  4. Invite foreign police to Bali, let them surveillance and address tourists in their own language
  5. Mandatory cultural classes for tourists visiting Bali more than 1 month
  6. Change Visa on Arrival to Tax on Arrival for tourists staying longer than 1 month
  7. etc .. etc..

While I understand the dislike of the behaviour of many tourists and those working illegally the emphasis on "quality" tourists is questionable. "Quality" tourists are meant to stay in expensive hotels and enjoy expensive packaged tours all owned and managed by the already super wealthy Indonesians or international corporations. The less than quality tourists tend to stay at lower cost digs and spend their money at a level which does support lower income Indonesians. By all means deport people behaving criminally and working illegally but I have misgivings about this wanting only "quality" visitors.

I dont think normal tourists are the problem - i think it is the extended stay tourists and this could be fixed with clamping down on extending visa on arrivals and also targeting the agents who offer dodgy investment visas.

If you ask any Balinese, they won’t consider the tour package Chinese tourist groups as quality or adding much to the local economy. They are transported by busses from Chinese tour operators, often have Chinese tour guides, use Chinese wedding photographers, visit shopping venues with Chinese products as silk, only eat in some selected Chinese restaurants and negotiated absolute bottom prices for their hotels.

The only ones really benefiting would be supermarkets like Coco where they are being dropped off.

There is a coastal town in Belgium with an upscale image, where they do anything to avoid the so-called cool-box (chilly bin / esky) tourists. So there is a dress code on the streets and in the shops and beach bars and shops are very limited in street advertising, playing (loud) music etc.

This is what they want to avoid:

Adding: don't want to pay entrance fee, pretending only to make a picture of the object.

"Stick and Carrot" approach has been in use since ages. It is not just working for adults, children but it is also in animal kingdom.
