Are you ready for Jokowi-Prabowo 2024?

As we move toward more and more AI how long before a super intelligent AI concludes perfectly logically, like Hal, that humans are a threat to life on the planet and should be terminated?
Hollywood, that bastion of reason has been warning us of the dangers of AI since Hal
They seem to be changing their tune nowadays and humanity will prevail with our inherent goodness of heart
Personally I'll keep ai as far away as I can

How is corruption defined in Indonesia? If I am not mistaken Prabowo has massive land holdings in Kalimantan relative to the construction of the new capital. So, will he immediately divest himself from these land holdings were he to become President so there could be no perceived conflict of interest? In a news bulletin a few moments ago, Prabowo declared he will stop corruption?

I have heard this mentioned before. Can anyone provide solid details, please?

It already is in the news for 5 years (after a presidential debate at the time). Has been discussed here somewhere before.

Thank you.
I thought for a moment the land could be where Nusantara is being built, but it's north of that area.

The decision to relocate the capital was made by Jokowi in 2019. I think it is reasonable to presume that with the building of the new capital, land prices will increase especially those in East Kalimantan. Apart from other packages of land in Kalimantan owned by Prabowo, Tempo reported in 2019 that his land in East Kalimantan was bought with $US150 million in cash.

And we have another case of possible (perceived) nepotism.

Of course the DKI’s governorship is rather gratifying and practically a recipe for (political) success.

The idea of some political families is to have the nephew of Prabowo (Gerindra) and the youngest son of Jokowi (PSI) pair up as Governor & Vice Governor of Jakarta.

The last hurdle that one was too young for that function, was removed by the Supreme Court. (Where did we hear that one before?)

It seems Prabowo said no to the proposal.

It never stops to amaze me that everything here is played via the press first, and then they start seriously thinking about it(s consequences).

I took a look. His land is much too far away for commuters so it's unlikely he will benefit from the new city. You'd be looking at a two hour drive at best. I suppose a toll road would change that, but the papers would jump on it like a tiger on a baby pig, especially the Jakarta post.

Hmm, I think it would be closer to 10 hours.

Anyway, the Prabowo‘s land ownership in East Kalimantan is not so much the problem. It is more what Tan Kang Hoo and Pranowo’s brother Hashim knew and did via their investment companies before the announcements of Nusantara.

They are talking air taxis now for the new capital. Brings the far away with some cash much closer.

TIME TO PAY BACK

"Prabowo, who will be sworn in on Oct. 20, plans to add about 10 ministries and agencies, a move seen as a way to create senior jobs for politicians in his seven-party coalition."
