Quarantine back to 7 days starting December

With kitas 14 days. But no B211 etc
If you live here you can enter with quarantine

Has you heard of anyone doing it or have you seen a change in the rules? Online all i can see is a blanket ban except for WNI. Ive heard lots of people say the same as you but no one has actually come back yet.

I believe to find the PeduliLindungi app in the PlayStore or Apple Apps you first need to change your phones location to Indonesia.

I was able to add it to my US phone and log in without any issues.

The reason that the UK is banned is because they have declared they have more than 10,000 Omicron infections (that is what is written).
Whereas the USA which has more than 10 times that amount is not banned. 😡
It doesn't give an exception for kitap holders either, at least on paper.

It's as a ratio to country size

USA is 5 times bigger

Or something like that
I think it's called algebra. Or politics.

My US phone wouldn't even show the app to download it. Once changed to Indonesia it showed up. Maybe they opened it up since I delt with it. Wasn't crazy about changing.

It's nothing to do with country size. It is whether the country had reported 10,000 infections or not in early December.
Logically they should now add 20+ countries to the list. But they won't. It might be revenge for last year's UK red list

I wonder how they are planning to do the formula E racing event in Jakarta in June with restrictions like this.

They will make adjustments to suit their needs. One of the rumors why quarantine was reduced to 2 days was because they didn't want the people who went to the G20 conference to think they were on a 'holiday'

We shouldn't forget it's only 10 years since the Fiskal tax was abolished, where everyone leaving the country had to pay quite a big sum (forgot how much). I am starting to think the government prefers people not to travel, for many reasons, and this could be a return to those kinds of restrictions (there is now effectively a tax on returning to Indonesia, payable to the quarantine hotel, and this time it is a tax relating to both money and time wasted).

Unlikely

I can assure you they'd make much more by allowing clubs and bars to fully reopen again from alcohol sales tax

Considering what a 5* hotel actually charges for 14 days full board etc it's actually cheaper than what they could and would usually charge when Jakarta was open to businessmen paying rack rate

Honestly 14 days in a 5* hotel full board 3 full meals etc ++ for what the quarantine rates are is very cheap to what they charged per night room only last decade (yes 2018/2019 lol)

The economy needs the country fully open again. The government can't survive on a few dollars a day bribe money from a quarantine hotel.

Think how many VOA on $35 a day they lose by keeping the Aussies out of Bali

I think that was their thinking at the start. But it seems to have changed now, they don't seem to care too much about Bali (I mean it's still there, right?), and while there is a financial hit from closing, for a government that likes to be in control this is outweighed by the advantages. They can still export goods without any problem. I mean look at China for an extreme example.
The thing that made me think this is that I saw a statement from Luhut about a week ago stating that while there are 10,000 Indonesians who travel abroad frequently, the population is 270m, and the government needs to focus on them first.

The economy is crippled and the government debt reached 41% of the GDP (everything above 40% is going above the prudent zone), as a big part of consumption is financed by debt. Coal exports, another source of foreign income, have been banned from January this year and any additional fx income would be actually great, even from tourism.

Currently serving 10 days in hotel prison (on day 3)- I wonder when they will implement the 7 days? What a mess.

Saw the same article and casually asked about it. That was the response.
