How to obtain Indonesian Citizenship

Still got a hold up with Catatan Sipil, been back again today with completed form & documents.
The good news is the form was only 4 pages - the writing on the back was details for how to fill it in.
The bad news is that the woman there still won't budge on having "oath" information.
Hubby very calmly told her to hang on, he called the woman at AHU, & let her speak with the CapIl woman, AHU is going to talk with the boss of this woman and try and get them educated in the regulations & the law.
We left.
I don't care, she can take all the time in the world, the problem is between AHU & Capil, it is down to them to communicate, I will just wait for a call or message to say my new KK/KTP is ready- I won't hold my breath- however when I do walk back in to get my stuff I shall expect a full apology & demand one if it isn't not given.

I cannot renounce my british citizenship at the Brit embassy either, it is an online process with the Home Office in the UK, the dealings I had here with the embassy were merely to get official letters to say they had no objection to my gaining Indonesian citizenship, and to cancel my passport - i assume they make some sort of letter & cut a corner off the passport. Not sure not done that bit yet.
You aren't a UK citizen though, so I am not sure what your country does.
When you get to that point, please do let us know. I want to start the process of WNI this year if possible. Also when i read about your issues with CAPIL , i just know that im going to face the same issues to. My local CAPIL are the absolute worst pain in the butt. Its as if they cant do anything at all. Ive already run into my first problem with the application to become WNI.. The online application asks for a code from the marriage certificate. My marriage certificate has no code! When we went to CAPIL to enquire about it, they just shoved us off by saying they cant fix it because they dont know how

The marriage certificate code number is on ours from Thailand- but on the actual online application I think we wrote the number that was on the paper from catatan sipil with the photo of both of us on it.
To be perfectly honest I had my sis in law do a lot of the form filling for me ;)
She works in admin at some big company so it seemed easier to bung her some spending money for our nephew & employ her as our 'assistant' - We cheated on that side of things a bit I guess.

That is not cheating. No different to using an agent. Cheating is when officials are slung a bit of money to overlook or expedite something.

The ultimate test is getting your new Indonesian Passport, I suggest you apply for it even if you are not planning to go anywhere at the moment.

We are just dealing with other things at immigration just now (official cancellation of permits) & I doubt I can get the passport without the KTP , which is in limbo with catatan Sipil

I wonder if the SK or Surat Keputusan still signed by the President (as its used to be) or by the Minister of Law and Justice now
There are two types of SK for naturalization. The one for spouse of a WNI (art. 19 UU 12/2006) is signed by Menteri Depkumham. It's a simplified procedure so no need to bother Pak Joko.
However naturalization for other reasons (art. 9 UU 12/2006) requires an agreement from the Presiden RI himself, his signature and a Keputusan Presiden, so the case/berkas go straight to him.

Except no one bothered to educate our catatan sipil of this & they are pushing for more than we have.
Insistent on some sumpah.

Why doesn't it surprised me? :D
I think you should just tell them politely to read the SK.
If you would need to sing the national anthem while doing 50 push ups, do any sumpah im Bahasa Indonesia and know at least three local dialek perhaps the Minister and his colleagues would have make sure it has been done prior to sign the SK.

Kindly ask them to point you at the statute saying you need a sumpah...etc. Leave them some time to ask to their boss and their boss to ask to their boss, and...etc. Unless you need a KTP WNI this week just give them some time to verify what they need. Keep in mind that though it's not rare anymore, it's not everyday they have to deal with this kind of case. And anyway the last petugas of the office who has dealt with a case like that is either cuti or sick. :D

We left them dealing with AHU on this. Hopefully they will get around to understanding the law & regulations.
I don't have any hurry for the KTP at this stage.
Immigration:
My documents have been handed in & signed off on.
Today from KanIm I have been given a document entitled:
Pencabutan Dokumen Keimigrasian Menjadi WNI
Basically it just states the significant dates & my personal details All stamped & signed off on.
They say I have to keep this document very safe- I can only imagine I would need it for when I apply for a passport or if someone reports me to Immi as some over stay or something- so I can wave it as proof of my status with regards specifically to immigration matters.
So copies made & it has been scanned to the laptop file & back up file.
Original placed safely with our other original docs.

Next stop I guess is Kelurahan, I was hanging off on this until I have my KTP though. I assume they will want to see it.

I have been living in Indo for1994, around 28 years non-consecutively, my first KITAP is going to be 5 years in Sept this year, I wish to apply for citizenship is it the perfect time to apply for citizenship or should I wait till September?
Pls suggest shd I go alone myself or do I go through an agent for all these processes?
How long will it take to get to WNI, I am not married to WNA.

I don't know anything about getting citizenship if not married to WNI, other than what has been posted in this thread.
I do know that our simpler marriage route took us about 10 months to complete.
So I would advise you have plenty of time on your visa before starting it.

I assume you have enough of the language skills needed to go it alone or have someone help you for some of the running around involved- a cheaper option than an agent.
If you live in Jakarta I assume your process will be less time consuming than ours as we had to make several trips to Jakarta & other places from Bandung.

Today we got our new KK from Catatan Sipil, then sent to Kecematan to get new KTP.
True to form this did not go without errors- yesterday the computers were offline at Capil so had to go back again today.
& Today my new KTP has given me a change of religion.
At this stage I cannot be arsed pointing that out & changing it again.

So, all done bar registering to vote & getting a passport

Shall we guess its not Hindu? :)

Heck when I did my SKTT a long time ago, a lady in the 'arsip department' (said my agent) automatically put me as 'married'. When I asked how the heck she came up with that? He answered.."She figured you were old enough to be married...(40+)" such audacity to change my status ...at the very least follow up with matchmaking me with her cute cousin, niece or something.

Hi, sorry to revive an old thread.. im going to attempt to become WNI some time in late 2022. Want to get my KITAP semua hidup first, so i can have plenty time availible to do this. Now one thing has me concerned.. the part where we have to renounce citizenship of our country of birth. I have no issue renouncing my citizenship, however the problem lies in my embassy not willing to lift a finger to offer any form of consular services whatsoever. They told me i must go back to my country and renounce my citizenship myself.. hell, now if it comes to that, i would want to enter my home country as an indonesian with an indonesian passport, because duh, if i renounce my citizenship, i would become stateless! Is it possible to get the indonesian passport prior to renouncing my citizenship??

It depends on your country- but it is done online in my old country- for a large fee of course
