That is Russia's problem alone.
Stephen F. Cohen speaking at the Carnegie Council Event in 2010 "... this is beyond any dispute, people say well we never signed a treaty, but a deal's a deal, the United States gives its word unless we're SHYSTERS".
That is Russia's problem alone.
My sympathies are with anyone who is terrorized/victimized/hurt/starving/suffering/killed for no good reason, and really money & power struggles are not good reasons in my book. One question to all of you, does your sympathy also include people that are or have been in terrible trouble because of other conflicts, like for example people in Yemen who are starving to death, or is it limited to whats hot these days and does it have to include the evil empire Russia or maybe China to get your attention?
I see a lot of propaganda and hypocrisy whenever something like this happens and a new war breaks out, of course the first rule for a bad war is that it wasn't started by the western world. It doesn't happen too often that the west isn't involved in some war one way or another, but as soon as countrys like Russia or China (or other evil empires) do something (for whatever reason), the west barks triple as loud including its media and accusing the other side of using propaganda and marking them as the personified devil. All of that is a sad and sick game and it's terrible how many innocent people have to die over the interests of some small minority. Even more surprising for me is how easily people can still be manipulated into war with whatever side and everybody thinks he is on the right side and immune against wrong judgement and other wrongdoings. Anyway..it's a big waste of time to write all that. I just hope all of this ends soon and doesn't escalate more and more. That's why I wish that politics and media would hit the breaks a bit and not add more and more fuel based on questionable "truths".
I agree with Badazz on this, help whoever you can help, doing even little things is better than nothing and even some words of courage can help. Everywhere in the world.

Indeed it will take a lot, but even our small bits are something.
...
I have been playing a weird little game with myself today... "What would I do now, if I was China?" Trying to be as objective as possible with my answers... here is where I am at:
Sit back & wait until Russia has Ukraine under control (if it ever happens) and then slide in and control a severely weakened Russia & move my borders significantly westwards.
Except there is really quite a lot being done, just not in an overtly aggressive military manner (by outside forces I mean- the Ukrainians seem to be doing pretty well though.)I think Taiwan is watching closely too. China could see no one is really doing anything to help Ukraine so they might assume the same would happen if they went after Taiwan.
Yeah, this should work.

This is a quote from the article you posted: "Ethnic Ukrainians will be sent by the French Foreign Legion as well.""It further stated that around 200 mercenaries from Croatia have already infiltrated the country via Poland. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that roughly 16,000 foreign fighters are anticipated to arrive in Ukraine. Russia also claims that private military contractors such as Academi, Cubic, and DynCorp were recruited in huge numbers by the US."

French legion will NOT/Have NOT sent Ethnic Ukrainians to Ukraine. This is at best poor journalism, at worse defamation.
If the french foreign Legion, being a regular corps of the french army, would set foot and combat in Ukraine it would simply means that France is at war against Russia. An aspiring geopolitical analyst would certainly have understood that, wouldn't he?![]()
One guy giving 2nd hand account of the Russian position on Chinese state television, is that link the best evidence for this claim? So what happened? Mercenaries, predominantly from Poland and Croatia, prevented civilians from leaving the city[3]
If you are just going to come on here and blow prapaganda smoke out way, I will report every post as such.
