War

On one side is the Western media, which you cannot completely trust for news about Russia.

So what do you do? You watch the other side as well. Things not reported on the Western media you can find on the other side. But use caution and common sense.
Well, I watch US news of various sources, French News, German news, and some Al Jazeera. I would be happy to watch russian news but real reporting is outlawed and you only get the propaganda. I follow a number of people both jouralist and Ukrainean citizens on Twitter. Who do you get your news from?

Opposing views not allowed on Australian live TV, Russian-Australian man kicked out of the show by Stan Grant.

Shorter version

Host of Q+A Stan Grant requested Sasha Gillies-Lekakis leave the studio after he asked a question about Russia's portrayal in the media. “Since 2014, Ukraine has besieged the Russian populations in Donetsk and Lugansk unprovoked, killing an estimated 13,000 people according to the UN,” Lekakis said. The ABC host then retorted after some quick debate, “Can I just say — I'm just not comfortable with you being here. Could you please leave?"

That's Ukraine's territory, and Russia has promised that it is multiple times, very significantly in the Budapest Memorandum of 1994 in which Ukraine gave up their nukes, and Russia agreed to respect their territorial boundaries and sovereignty.

The violence in Donetsk and Lugansk was started and continually supported by Russia. It was Ukraine fighting a civil war with foreign supported separatists. It's not pretty, but it's not Ukraine's fault.

One show, one host hardly supports your suggestion that Australian TV does not allow opposing views.

My question whould be, should media world wide even allow russian propaganda to be repeated through it's service? Would russia allow opposing views to be presented in it's media. Ah, we already know that answer, don't we. Up to 15 years in prison for doing so. I guess Sasha was fortunate because he was only asked to leave, not beat and thrown in prison.

Got to love that someone thinks a site like YouTube is a useful news outlet where one can find views and thise opposing those views. Quite a site that is pretty much designed to find whatever you intentionally search for.

Maybe Dave should search thise vids where someone plants a fruit in a chicken egg and burries them and gets chicken ala orange growing from the ground. He could them claim to be a veg/vet/biology annalist, aspiring that is. Go YouTube, do tell us what we want to see.

Sorry... but ...
Windmills? WINDMILLS!!!

In light of all the horrors on screen (& in real life for those in oppressed/invaded and war-torn countries) I think I would like an ounce of what he is on, please.

I have to say that I do not actively follow anything he says/does and try to avoid all mention of him, (algorithms and all that jazz would have him pop up in my feed all the time if I didn't)
BUT that one was was a must share moment.
He makes Reagan's latter years look positively sane

Yes i don't purposely find news about him either but agreed that twitter piece was a shareable one!

Typically trump. So donny, what can we do about the rising cost of gas. Donny: gas, too high, not as high as my genious but pretty high. The French you know have bagels. If you look at the US, they have bagel shops all over the nation. I did that. There wouldn't be half the bagel shops if it wasn't for me and what I did at the boarder. People say I locked up kids but all I did was give them someplace safe to lock out that deep state pedo ring run by hillary. Speaking if hillary, did you know bitcoin has been tanking lately? That's why I don't play around with that stuff. Ivanka is such a baby doll. Even if everyone leaves me, I still have Melania. Somewhere. Is it nap time yet?

Trump seems to be in rapid mental decline, but the years must have softened the perception of Ronnie Raygun. His record high level (edit) of presidential doddering is only just now being challenged.

That's beside the point...

Do you agree that Stan Grant did the right thing?

Why is Ukraine the West’s Fault?

John J. Mearsheimer, the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor in Political Science and Co-director of the Program on International Security Policy at the University of Chicago, assesses the causes of the present Ukraine crisis, the best way to end it, and its consequences for all of the main actors. A key assumption is that in order to come up with the optimum plan for ending the crisis, it is essential to know what caused the crisis. Regarding the all-important question of causes, the key issue is whether Russia or the West bears primary responsibility.

Watch this video today (lecture given in 2015), and all makes sense of what is happening now in Ukraine, Russia, the EU and the United States.

Seven years ago Ukraine was a far different country than it is today. 7 years ago Ukraine was still burried in corruption at every level of government. This included the executive, justice, and legislature. The military leadership wasn't much better. Did the West as you call it interveine? Damn straight simply because Ukraine did did not want to be under the thumb of russia and enjoyed at least being democratic. The West as you refere to them, who were primarily EU natuons with the US suggested ways to clean up their system. Yes, some demands were made after Ukraine showed interest in joining the EU and NATO. The suggestions and demands were directed at getting corrupt individuals out. True, most of these were russian supporting individuals but they played favors for the cash.

No one can ask NATO or the EU to add any nation until that nation personally request membership. Then, that nation after an investigation has to come to order meeting the requirements for joining either one or both. Once a nation does request membership, yes, they are going to get advice from other members on how to meet the qualifications. This us what was happening in Ukraine. Things were moving along just fine until trump entered the picture and tried to blackmail Ukraine.

No matter what you say, Ukraine just like every nation needs to make the request. No one can do it for them. They requested it for the sake of protection from an evil invader and the fact that the majority of the citizens wanted membership in the EU because they considered themselves European and at the same time, enjoyed a democratic form of government. This crap about putin and lyingLavruv worried about their boarders is a bunch of crap but just one if the bunch of lies on their propaganda list. Ukraine wasn't going to attack anyone. Ukraine may have had the military better trained but even with what weapons thay had from ither nations, they were never in control of enough weapons to go to war. Strictly defensive. Russia said they were worried missles would be on their boarders. Evedently, russia is showing the world why they should be.

Back to YouTube. Your news source for current information is dwindling. Russia stuff has now been banned from that platform.

Curious, what are you going to do fir cash now that your cards don't work? In case you haven't heard, China is going to take care of you. 2 peas in a pod.

Putin just airdropped me some gold bars and US $$$ banknotes.

In all likelyhood, if from Putin you should probably check those bars. Good chance they are just painted metal but hey, if putin says they are gold, you can take that to the bank. Well, if you can find one still open for business. The US notes are orobably as phony as russia's reporting.

Sen. Marco Rubio asked Victoria Nuland (Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs):

Does Ukraine have biological or chemical weapons?
