US Presidential Election - What's your take?

I stayed up last night to listen to his hour-long prattle on how he will reform the economy.
His main discourse was to denigrate the Clintons and Obama, which are easy targets, but still he fails to disclose his own tax-receipts and he outsources a lot of his business off-shore as does his daughter in her business.
He also wants to cancel inheritance-tax which must have made his daughter, in the audience, wet herself with delight...the hypocrisy must have stunk the room...as well as her wet knickers....which were probably made in India.

Trump is no longer the bombastic outlandish ideas outsider but has reverted to the tired, and largely unpersuasive (How long has it been since a Republican won the White House?) establishment argument that cutting taxes and eliminating regulations will jump-start the economy, an economy, that, incidentally, is clicking along pretty well. I don't think the speech is going to garner any new voters.

Trump is just parrotting the standard "tax cut is always good" hogwash.

In order to maintain his record as a governor who has never raised taxes, Bobby Jindal wrecked his state. That was an acceptable cost for him in order to have a shot as a Republican presidential candidate.

This article is from a conservative site, his own party, criticizing him in no uncertain terms.

Thanks to Bobby we now have a case study showing that "always cut taxes" is not a sound governance policy, it's an ideological slogan not grounded in economic reality.

Last week, I watched an episode of Hanger 1: UFO Files (S1, Ep.5) on History channel. The episode was about past & present (yes, I’m talking about Obama) US presidents who have seen or believed in UFOs, and who have promised to reveal what the government knows about it. Most presidents from Eisenhower believed it, while two (Carter & Reagan) saw it before they became president. But all failed to reveal the truth to the public after they took office (including Obama). Looks like the gatekeeper of the UFO files convinced each & every president that the public cannot handle it yet. I don’t know if Trump will if he becomes president as he’s the craziest of them all. He’s crazy but he may be good for America… crazy solution for crazy problem.

It's Trump who is the alien. Ever wonder why he is so orange? It's cheap foundation used to hide his green skin!

Good going, LR. An outlandish proposition deserves and equally outlandish (and sarcastic) rebuttal. You speak my language.

LOL … perhaps aliens are attempting to save our sick planet, but first they must make America great again. Trump may not be the only alien, maybe Putin is too. So if Trump wins, they will work together.

Now the idiot nominee for the Republican party has suggested the fire arm supporters should take care of Hillary if she defeats him. Republican memers have been running away from him and here is another way to get more running as fast as they can away from him.

Congratulations to all Americans, you've proven what the rest of the world have suspected. That you lot are all bloody insane.

Trump's been out in the cold after saying McCain was enjoying himself at the Hanoi Hilton. If the old bastard had crucified him with the help of some fellow old warhorses we might've had a marginally saner race.

Hollywood couldn't make a film crazier than this, I don't see the Lone Ranger coming over the hill to save everybody.

That you lot are all bloody insane..

Some Americans are ignorant, racist idiots who would like to be led by a fascist. But not all of us are that way. If you take the time to read posts by Americans on this forum, you will realize that.

Perhaps the most interesting accusation I've seen this presidential cycle just came from Julian Assange, he appears to be suggesting that WikiLeaks received the emails not from the Russians, but from a DNC staff member.

The interesting part is that it's the same staffer who was murdered last month.

I don't know what to make of this and I largely do not trust Assange.

If Trump DOES somehow get elected we'll get to see Trumpinators sent from the future to prevent a future Judgement Day from happening, so there's that.

& in the real world, the man is getting a hell of a lot of publicity, and publicity makes for a household name and when people vote, they vote for someone they feel some affinity for - & for those who are clueless about politics (& sadly that is a lot of people) they vote for the household name , cos they have heard of them & they might well share his views too... and that is scary.

Also, look at Wikileaks' twitter and they've offered $20k reward for info leading to a murder conviction in the Seth Rich case. Either 1) he was the source and wikileaks is trying to tell us while technically keeping their pledge of anonymity for sources, or 2) they don't actually know the source and they are seriously concerned it was him and want answers, or 3) they know the source is not Rich and they are just trying to imply it for attention. I have my hunches about which is true, but I can honestly see it being any of the 3 options.

Snopes debunks this and rates it as FALSE.

Snopes also isn't the head of WikiLeaks and makes no mention of Assange implying that Rich was the leaker...

There's a lot of possibilities here. The simplest answer is that Rich was killed in a botched robbery where no items were taken. Am I willing to believe that the DNC or its backers would be willing to kill to keep their secrets secret?

Well, honestly... yeah.

Edit: it would also seem to exonerate Russia. I am very willing to believe that Rich leaked those documents. I think it's improbable the DNC or backers killed him over it, but it's within the realm of the possible (but probably not plausible).

But you have to also acknowledge that many of us are into political theater in a big way. This year's entertainment is more black comedy than drama.

Nice to have the old Dan back again.

The guy was a minor "get out the vote" operative with no access to secret DNC information confirming the Clinton was involved in nefarious activity, the existence of which is also not in evidence. It is also "within the realm of possibilities" that there is green cheese somewhere on the dark side of the moon.

Bill Clinton has said that House of Cards is 99% accurate. We read that headline and think/hope the 1% difference is all the murdering, but apparently Clinton said the speed they got an education bill passed was the 1% that was unrealistic!

http://www.businessinsider.com/bill-clinton-says-house-of-cards-is-99-percent-real-2015-3

Kevin Spacey said, Bill Clinton said, rather than "Bill Clinton has said..."

House of Cards is entertainment, not history and certainly not an accurate portrayal of Washington political maneuvering.
