US Presidential Election - What's your take?

Texas is not as Republican as all that. Bush won it by only 3% in 1992, and Dole by 5% in 1996.

Ross Perot ran in both of those elections and was from .... Texas. After those for the past 20 years the average breakdown was 60/40 for the state, which is a reliable as it gets.

Sorry, you need to recheck your numbers. There are 538 electoral votes.

Ooops. Thanks for the correction...I was thinking Presidential votes but copied how many House of Representative seats were available.

edit: I hope everyone will believe it's an excusable mistake...there is a person in our household that has the onset of memory fade.
i.e. I just asked my wife where were my glasses..she replied "On your head you Ape!" She must have lost her mind as we're not allowed pets here and, even so, I certainly wouldn't keep a monkey...

Today Texas is about 49% R and 44% D for the presidential election. At this rate it can be a swing state in a decade. When Texas becomes less than reliable, Republicans are never going to win the White House anymore, not with their current emphasis on WASP constituents.

Colorado and New Mexico have turned blue. Arizona and Nevada are not far behind. If Dems have New England, the rust belt, the great lakes, the left coast, and the desert states, Repubs can't win by relying on the deep south, the great plains and the mountain folks only.

Colorado hasn't turned blue, it's turned into a swing state, same with Nevada (since 1992 in both cases). Bill Clinton won Arizona, and of these only New Mexico looks like a blue rather than swing state.

New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Florida, Colorado and other states with high Hispanic populations are winnable by the Republicans, but not with Trump as leader. Hispanic voters are naturally conservative and in 2004 Bush won 44% of the vote. One presumes a Conservative Hispanic candidate such as Rubio, or George P Bush could do well among Hispanic voters.

Note that even though the black vote is monolithic (90% or so) for the Democrats, many of states with highest black populations, such as Mississippi, still vote Republican.

How much this hysteria could cause damage to Trump business?

I read about people living in a "Trump places" making a petition asking for the owner of the building (Equity Residential) to remove the "Trump" of the front of the place here they live.

The Building owner argue it would make the building lose of it's value if doing so... quite opposite point of view!!!

How much this candidacy to the presidency can damage the business of trump?
It's almost sure it will not win. How will it be for him after the election day?

Hillary have great chance to win the race at a point that she don't really care of her own campaign and put effort to support the election of the senator.

Somewhere it make me a bit worry. Hillary controlling the gov and the senate... maybe the crazy one for President and democrat on the senate would be a better idea or maybe not... what do you think?

*** while writing those line, I think it will be better for the american a hilary as presicent that controle the democrate. That would help to finalize the obamacare and other law in suspend or stuck in congres that do nothing else than giving trouble to the deocrate (whatever the cause).
But it will not be so good for the rest of the world... or the balance poor/rich...

In any case Trump president with a control on the congres would be the hell on earth!!!

Colorado passed some California-style gun control laws, and now there's a ballot measure for universal health care. Clinton is definitely ahead in the state. It's more blue than purple.

While a brown Republican ticket can increase Hispanic votes, it comes at the cost of discouraging the deplorables. For that party it's still better to have a white guy at the top, as long as he's not a complete ass like Trump.

The deep south lost a lot of its black population, but minorities are inching up in some states. Georgia actually turned blue for a brief moment when Trump was lashing at the Khans. The military has a large presence there (Fort Benning), so disrespecting gold star parents didn't go down well. Even today Trump is only ahead by 3 points in Georgia, despite Clinton spending basically no time nor money down there.

Keep in mind there is Gary Johnson who will probably steal some votes and is on the ballot in all 50 states. I haven't heard much from my friends in Texas in a while, but at one point, people I knew who were Bernie fans went to Johnson rather than go hillary.

I think Johnson is taking more votes from Republicans than from Democrats. Stein is taking some D votes from Clinton.

I am an undecided voter and don't like either candidate but I do believe that Trump is the lesser of two evils. I do like the fact that Trump destroyed the "Good Old Boy" Republican party establishment and they hate him for it. What are the odds that Trump will become POTUS? Not likely according to the betting websites. The betting websites predict Hillary Clinton will be our next POTUS.

So what policies of the "Good Old Boy" Republican party establishment are you opposed to, and how do Trump's proposals differ?

Even if the next president turns out to be very ineffective overall, it's pretty clear they will have a huge effect on SCOTUS. Why do you think Trump's impact will be the "lesser of two evils"?

The FBI director just announced that there is new evidence in the server-gate case. He is reopening the investigation. Republicans immediately and collectively peed their pants with glee.

Oh, Weiner's wiener actually manages to screw a woman this time. If this gives Trump victory he's gonna be one of the most hated perverts in America.

While this election has kept peoples interest in one thing or another, wouldn't it have been more interesting if the likes of Red Skelton, Jonathan Winters, or Robin Williams could be on the ticket. The comedy wouldn't be so serious.

Couldn't agree more, when the world needs positive leadership, we view this pantomime, there must be a better system to pick a leader instead of ending up with two clowns who nobody really wants or trusts.

Two things spring to mind ....

1. It would be serious if the US predilection for guns were to cause the death of the President elect before inauguration in January. Then the elected Vice President would be President and people would ask...WHO? Children, doing civil history at school, would fail if asked to name their President.

2. After inauguration, if both were assassinated or otherwise demised, then the Speaker of the House becomes the President....currently that's meek Paul Ryan, who didn't want to run!

Conspiracy theorists...any comments?

With the state of current affairs and who are the players of this game, I doubt anyone of them could successfully put that together.
