The future and the role of Artificial intelligence.

How AI could help in predicting protein structures. Predicting protein function is crucial for understanding biological life processes, preventing diseases and developing new drug targets.

Today in the news ..

The social media platform Tiktok will use more AI (artificial intelligence) and therefore scraps hundreds of jobs worldwide. The company says it wants to use automatic technology for moderating messages.

The dismissal round struck Malaysia the hardest. Tiktok's Chinese parent company Bytedance says that 500 people lost their jobs there. Tiktok has 40,000 employees who moderate content worldwide.

Just watched a Chinese news report about AI with it said that AI could soon perform 50% of jobs. When you look at the way in which innovation has impacted upon economies it seems probable that the profit opportunities will far outway social concerns about unemployment unless governments seriously prepare for the rapid changes ahead. So far I have yet to see a government that has planning as to how to ease into these new technologies without a huge impact and increased poverty for those who will be left without skills to be employable.

Does that include the bosses also?

It is entertaining to see how the generative AI is used as a scambaiter to waste the scammer's time

In the past, in my spare time, I personally spent a lot of scammer's time by answering their calls. However, it didn’t feel like a waste of my time since I was multitasking and only pay very little attention what being said or explained. All I had to do was to keep them talking and asking them to repeat themselves, or clarify their instructions. It was amusing to watch them grow frustrated or even angry before eventually giving up.

In the early days of email when scammers were offering 10% of $10,000,000 which they needed to transfer as proceeds from oil pricing, I replied that I did not want 10% I wanted 90% and the scammer scolded me for being greedy.

Does that include the bosses also?
Soon or later. Maybe not the biggest bos though. Company wants to win, at all times 24/7 if it's possible.
Imagine (AI) boss/manager that is always there, never be sick, has no bias whether you are attractive or not, whether the employee is family related to him/her or not, can think the best sales strategy etc.

I used Gemini this morning to question follow up on a story from 2023.
"What became of the 2023 corruption charges against The Chancellor of Bali's Udayana University in Bali? "

Gemini responded with: "The former Chancellor of Udayana University, Prof. I Nyoman Gde Antara, was sentenced to six years in prison for corruption involving the collection of institutional development funds (SPI) from new students."

This surprised me as I had not seen any reports about this so I asked Gemini a further question.
"is he still in prison or has he been parolled?"

Gemini replied: "
I Nyoman Gde Antara, the former Chancellor of Udayana University, was found not guilty in the corruption case involving the collection of institutional development funds (SPI) from new students.

Therefore, he is not in prison and has not been paroled as he was acquitted of all charges."

I then put this to Gemini: "so why did your first reply say he had been imprisoned for six years?"

Gemini: "My previous response was incorrect. I apologize for the misinformation.
I am still under development and learning to access and process information accurately.
I am always being updated and improved, and I appreciate you bringing this error to my attention."

Stone the crows. And one wonders about the results when Artificial Intelligence is making a diagnosis of your illness?

Gemini: "I apologize that your left left leg was amputated due to my incorrect diagnosis. I am still under development. Thank you for your patience."

Actually, this isn't far off from some of the incompetent doctors I've seen when using BPJS as my payment coverage. As you know, they can buy their certification to be a practicing Doctor.
For example, I was prescribed a cream mixture, for skin cancer, which was absolutely useless from a doctor that was payed by BPJS. I eventually went to a specialist that properly removed the Cancer by surgical incision. Which I had to pay for with Cash!
So as to Artificial intelligence, like you said, it's still in the infant stage, but Probably will improve at a rapid rate. For now, It's probably best to have Humans working along side the machines, just to prevent mishaps like you mentioned. I would not trust a self driving car unless I was behind the wheel, and could take control in an instant.
Hey look at us now, using computers, smart phones, and the internet to communicate. I am glad I came from the old school, when a person had to read, write, know mathematics, cook, play a musical instrument, etc, themselves.
The children now could not imagine life even 50 years ago!

This is an instance where AI was used to scam people. The scammers created a persona impersonating Brad Pitt and swindled a French woman out of €830,000.

A similar scam occurred in late September 2024, targeting two Spanish women. At the time, five individuals were arrested, and the fraud totalled €340,000.

If such incidents can happen again, it seems some people never learn, especially considering that one person has now fallen victim to an even larger scam of €830,000. Unless you are very rich, billionaires, you will not part with this amount of money before consulting other people or at least search similar case in the past.

Another Leapfrog in AI. AI Designed Computer Chips That the Human Mind Can't Understand. If this sort of chips is implanted in Robots, Machines that have capability to learn by themselves (Machine Learning). It makes it more difficult for human to control it.

This is just great, first it's AI giving us misinformation, now it's robots becoming smarter than us! Run for the hills!!!

Another analysis today regarding AI and unemployment which reiterates my previously expressed concern that worldwide it seems governments are not really preparing for the implications of all this. Australia is about to have a Federal election and, as yet, no suggestion that any state or federal governments have woken up to the enormous social crisis that looms rather like those amazing dust storms that seem to come out of nowhere.

Wow, that article about AI replacing Humans in the workforce is really scary!!! but hey, it's already been happening in the Car manufacturing for a while now. Since we only use a very small portion of our brains, it shouldn't be too hard for the robots to pass us up. Pass the food in a pill? Spock!
