As usual lots of different information out there. Seems that Luhut made an announcement that Bali will move to 5 days quarantine from tomorrow and the internet is taking this as the new policy.

I for one haven't seen any official legal announcements about this and presume that another statement from another politician should be ignored untill there is an official statement but it does seem likely to happen soon (although maybe not before tomorrows Bali reopening).
Also no news about if this is for Jakarta too and for Indonesian citizens returning from those select countries?

It's all basically 100% politics.
If it was based on science and medical evidence ALL countries would apply the same rules.
See for example UK. People coming from Indonesia can enter without quarantine, but people from England must quarantine arriving in Bali.
Thailand just lifted completely the quarantine thing (starting in 1 month) it was 7 days just a week ago. A medical miracle happened ?
Same goes with the list of "selected" countries. Based on political agreements.
Expect more "negociations" to come, ....

Over time anyway it will all fade away, and this crisis will be forgotten.
Or are we going to vaccinate the whole world population every 6 or 8 or 12 months with 1, 2 , 3 jabs till the end of the world ?

Sitting on the fence, smiling at all this drama. With a beer.

It's all Indonesia now 5 days. Officially. But the exact starting day literally just waiting on them to sign the letter. But yes officially some time this week anyone landing from that date only has to do 5 days

What Luhut wants, Luhut gets.

I've contacted one of the approved quarantine hotel as their offer still for 8 days. They are yet to receive official letter. They will change to 5 days once new regulation is effective. But no new rate for 5 days quarantine is published as of now.

No surprise then. The policy is supposed to start tomorrow but no one knows the details about it yet. Good planning.

We will arrive in Jakarta on Monday morning (no flight to Bali - at least not Qatar airways). The hotel has asked for full prepayment (Rp. 21M for 8 days quarantine for two) and will refund if policy change during our stay.
We will wait until Friday and negotiate for 50% prepayment.

I'm pretty sure the rule has to be the same in both Bali and Jakarta, for obvious reasons. So it will probably be valid for both, unless it gets pulled at the last minute, which I guess is also a possibility because I'm sure that the scientists are trying to persuade them to keep it at 8 days.
Anyway until there is a signed regulation then it is still 8 days.

The hotels confirmed that they will refund in case of new regulation take into effect before check-in. This could be tricky if the new regulation officially issued after our check-in.

yes, we just received revised offer from several hotels for 5 days quarantine in Jakarta.
No Qatar air direct flight to DPS though.

Latest letter from Covid task force:

1. Quarantine reduced to 5 days.
2. Negative PCR required 3x24hrs prior to travel.
3. Negative PCR required on day 4 of quarantine to end quarantine on day 5.
4. If you test positive, you will be taken to a medical facility depending on the symptoms. This will be paid out of pocket for foreigners.
5. Certain types of travellers (KITAS/P, Visa Dinas, Diplomatic, those aged 12-17) who are unvaccinated, will be vaccinated during the quarantine period.

I doubt this will attract many "standard tourists" as those come usually for a 1 or 2 week stay.

Maybe acceptable for people who want to return here long term.

Considering other SEA touristic countries are now opening up, with more relaxed rules, there will be a tough competition between all for few tourists who want to take the risks.

Singapore just relaxed the rules for their citizens to travel, but Indo is not on SGP list, and SGP not on Indo list ...

I guess things will be more coordinated, and probably more relaxed in a few weeks, with Christmas approaching ?

It's definitely going to be amended depending on the situation. If cases stay low, maybe quarantine will be lowered/eliminated. The rule also allows for a quarantine waiver for reciprocal travel corridor arrangements (none exist as of now).

Also, there is still no "regular" tourism such as visa-free arrival or VoA. All tourists must apply, pay for, and be approved for a visa (Ijin Kunjungan) online before travel. I believe there is also a daily quota of 1,500 total IKs which includes all SosBud type visas (business, family, tourist, etc). All these combined probably means not that many actual tourists will come right away.

That's not true. 19 countries can now come as tourists / voa etc.
Of course none of them have direct flights to Bali anyway lol
And still need to do 5 days quarantine which will NOT be on a low level floor so you can jump over the balcony for midnight swim.

Will be top floors and heavily secured. Possibly balconies locked even.
