Quarantine back to 7 days starting December

If you have a rough date won when you might be returning, best to try and book it now. They are going to start getting full quickly after going from 3 days to 7 and now 10.

Well I've just entered the 10 day quarantine, but I have to say I was very impressed by the system at the airport on arrival. It works really smoothly. Big difference from the shambles in my home country!

Please share your experience. I get to try this in a few weeks.

Well basically you get off the plane and have to go through a few checkpoints. You should already have QR codes for 1) hotel booking (D-HOTS) 2) EHAC 3) vaccine 4) PCR test prior to flight, and these are checked (print them all out if you can as it's easier for them to check). They give you another piece of paper with a new QR code. Then you have a new PCR test. Then you go through passport control as usual, then you collect your luggage. After that you wait for the PCR test result (took about 1hr 50 minutes). There is a big screen which tells you how many minutes you still have to wait. At this point you link up with the rep from the hotel you are staying at - they are all in that area waiting for guests' test results. After you get the negative result the rep takes you outside and the hotel car turns up and takes you to the hotel, where you'll probably enter through the basement or back door (i.e. not the usual lobby).

Interestingly on the way from the airport there was a big police truck with escort and sirens blaring speeding through. I asked my driver if it was a VIP. He said no, it is someone who has just tested positive at the airport and is now being whisked off to Wisma Atlet (apparently this happens once or twice a day). That person would have their hotel reservation cancelled.

It is a good system, however I honestly don't think it is enough to stop the Omicron variant getting through. For example the person who tested positive (could have been my flight, as there were 3 flights going through the process at the same time), would have been able to infect many people in the plane and at the airport.

Was your flight around midnight or earlier? I agree this is not going to stop omnicron and who knows if while wait, it got passed on to a number of people.

Can I ask about the insurance requirement? I have insurance up to 3 million euro (they require 100,000 USD so im well above that) but it doesn't say anything about covering my quarantine expenses (which I have enough money to pay out of my own pocket so I don't need my insurance to cover it).
Technically I don't think I can adhere to this requirement:
"Foreign citizens are mandatory to show proof of health insurance/travel insurance ownership which include health financing for quarantine & treatment if exposed with COVID-19"

When I think about it - I'm pretty sure my insurance would actually cover it but they don't specifically say that anywhere. Are they checking this at arrival here?

I think that's only for tourists or those coming on business trips. I was never asked to show any proof when I arrived last week.

Ah, that would make sense! Thanks - I can stop worrying about it. I leave today but will be coming back on Jan 1st.

If you've not done so already, I'd book a quarantine package now. Availability of decent hotels seems to have become an issue since they changed the rules.

I had this issue too - I have booked already but it was a challenge to find one indeed - most of the hotels I contacted didn't even bother to reply to me.
