No More Inefficient or Intolerant Indonesia - Jokowi's New Vision

Crisps in the UK are the same, barely a quarter full. Reduces obesity anyway.
Not to mention most of these unhealthy packages overloaded with salt and sugars but nonetheless, deceptive packaging and producers should not be allowed to get away with this profit movitated greed.

Open the bag, air escapes and lucky if there is 10% crisps. I am not sure if there are deceptive packaging laws but if there are, until companies get serious fines, then this will continue.
It's the same way in more developed nations. As long as the Net Weight (Berat Bersih) is accurate to the contents, there is no deception (legally). The justification for chips is that the air keeps the chips from being crushed. They would quite like to reduce the distribution costs by shipping denser products, but not if the consumer gets a bag of crumbs and never buys again.

A consumer protection authority with real teeth is a step for Indonesia to take as a developing country. With most products it seems once you walk out the shop door that's it. Guarantees?

After a swim and walk along the beach I have a small Bintang and am given a complementary small packet of crisps... pumped up with air. Open the bag, air escapes and lucky if there is 10% crisps. I am not sure if there are deceptive packaging laws but if there are, until companies get serious fines, then this will continue.

The way stores stack shelves here, without that air in the vag you would only get crumbs. Even with the added cushing you get pieces many times.

Not just a consumer protection agency which they have but seems useless, laws concerning Truth In Advertising would do a lot. No more, this milk will make your kid smarter and a leader ads.

Not in the case of Pringles. The tubes of Pringles in Indonesia are significantly less filled compared to those in Europe. But, the chips are slightly smaller in both cases. Some years ago Pringles decided to make the chips smaller (than before). Other products followed their lead, like Toblerone: inside the package is a slightly smaller chocolat bar.

Pringles contain 68g of actual product but I wonder surely it costs money to have a 30cm tube instead of only needing 20cm length? Doesn't that cost more in the long run

Like the old extra olive in the Delta Airlines salad thing or matches only have the strike stripe one side. If they made the Pringles tube shorter surely that would save them something? You'd still get 68g of reconstituated potato puree and same price but less costs?

Toblerone has shrunk the size of its bars and people are outraged
As if 2016 has not already punished us enough, Toblerone fans are fuming this morning after the company admitted shrinking the size of its chocolate bars in the UK.

The company who makes Toblerone, Mondelez International, was forced to make a statement on the official Toblerone Facebook page after fans noticed that the gaps between the iconic swiss chocolate triangles had grown.

In fact, two sizes of Toblerone bars have gone down in weight, but the odd design decision was made to keep the size of the packets the same.

Mondelez says this is all down to rising costs in ingredients.

Now the bear is gone from the mountain on the toblerone logo

Toblerone is set to have a redesign after the manufacturer who makes it has decided to change the location of its production facility from Bern to Bratislava.
The famous triangular confectionary brand, which uses the Matterhorn mountain as its logo, has been made in Switzerland (strict food labelling laws). These laws are now set to force Toblerone to drop its use of the distinctive Alpine peak, as well as its references to being ‘Swiss-made’.

Thanks for the picture, but I'm a little hesitant to look at the contents of a Pringles can on a man's lap.

It’s a shame PepsiCo made that deal on the chips so Lays disappeared (for some years). They still sell it but for the parallel import in Grand Lucky or so, you pay the grand prize.

It really is amazing how products here are pulled off the market without any communication or warning. After the whole Sprite thing the Coke Zero 1,5 liter bottles also disappeared and its cans are often also hard to find. The same with the Schweppes Soda and now even Tonic. And suddenly they introduced tiny bottles of Fanta Soda?! Wonder how long that will last.

I found some Twix here once being sold in Superindo. I've never seen them again in the years since.

Don't know where you live but Coke cans easy to find here in the horrible South.
Only problem.is sometimes for the Coke Rasa Original cans. Coke zero or Light is shiite to mix my whisky.
And 1,5 L bottle.... beurk... stuff is completely flat.

Yes, things go on and off the shelves, but that's everywhere in this type of countries.
Very likely a problem of stock management.

Maybe different in Bali but sometime last year for the rest of Indonesia coke withdrew coke light / diet coke to only offer original and coke zero. They also shrunk the can size from 330ml to 250ml and kept the price the same. At the same time they withdrew a bunch of other products including the soda water.

There’s no difference in recipe (Splenda) or amount of gas with other markets. If people here would know (how) to firmly close the lid of the bottle, the soda would stay fine. I’ve seen it a million times and now it’s even a habit; I close these bottles properly every time I open the fridge.

Anyway, this one , the Light (or Diet in Anglosphere) does not exist anymore:

They only have the regular (easy to find, for sale everywhere) and Zero version. The latter I use in a BaCo, the moment you’re used to it you don’t like the ultra heavy original anymore. It’s like starting with coffee without sugar. The different taste in the rum if they don’t use Bacardi Light is very obvious to me. The Zero version is already removed from many supermarket chains as Indomaret, AlfaMart still sells them. I wouldn’t be surprised it if would vanish also.

It definitely is not a stock management problem; that would be a (purchasing) issue by distributors and supermarkets. It has to do with production (planning) and just taking varieties out of the portfolio. If a variety is not available at supermarket A, it also disappeared from supermarkets B and C. Which is kind of ridiculous since Coke is not a mickey mouse company and probably uses SAP for their PPIC.

Having said that, it seems they provide some (preferred) alternate channels faster, you can get certain drinks rather easily via online channels. Coca Cola Indonesia does not react on any logistical or availability question by e-mail or their social media btw.

NB: agree with Ruserious, I had not read his reply when I posted…

Its shocking how hard it is to find the diet versions of drinks in Indonesia. I travel a lot and dont make a habit of visiting mcdonalds in every country but over the years i have been to many and Indonesia is the only country ive seen where there is no diet coke option in Mcdonalds.

Seems like we have got off topic a bit. Sorry.
