Mudik and C19

So apparently they're still allowing planes today, because the announcement was so abrupt. But no more new bookings.

As an aside, with the global airline fleet mothballed: when they come back online, I would give them at least a month before flying again. Storing aircraft is not just parking them, and bringing them back online requires some work. There will probably be a lot of kinks to work out when it happens at this scale.

We will use VOC sailboats from Sunda Kelapa harbor.

That's interesting, we're in West Java and our supermarket 20mins away is in Bogor, according to the map the journey there crosses the "border" twice, I wonder if they'll try to block the road somehow.

Indonesia walks back flight ban: Only applied to areas enforcing the large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) or COVID-19 red zones, also does not affect international flights to and from Indonesia so long as the services comply with the COVID-19 protocol.

Pretty calm for mid day I should think.

The US Embassy in Jakarta in its virus updates had, 2 days ago, indicated the substance of the walk-back. The important item for us was that international flights would continue. We are still expecting (hoping) that the only new thing we will need after landing is a recent doctor's statement that we are asymptomatic and an agreement that we will stay at home for a couple of weeks.

You’ll need to pass the airport check-in at your departure airport before being allowed to board.

I was told at my home airport and LAX that I couldn‘t board last month. Only by showing the Indonesian notice, and contacting the Indonesian embassy was I finally allowed on the plane. Things are very likely tougher now.

Many flights are also canceled. I just got notified a couple of days ago, that my original SEA-TPE-CGK late May flight on EVA, was just canceled.

I have flights back to the US in August, and I’m not banking on them flying, either.

Looks like Lion Air will be flying from 3rd May. Anyone hear anything different. We are still unable ot confirm flight bookings

There has been a kerfuffle as Transportation minister Budi Karya said all modes of transportation to be opened today, and allowed to operate if they follow "health protocol".

Meanwhile Covid-19 task force chief says mudik still banned, however exemptions now expanded to include those with "important economic functions".

Those that need to travel must provide documents such as statement letter from employer, certificate of health from medical authority, letter from local village chief, itinerary. It appears they are trying to discourage travel by using red-tape. And why not, they are masters at it...

Can we just get a letter from a local clinic saying we are symptom free or what..? I have to take a flight soon. I don't think they even have testing in Pacitan...

If anyone still insist on going mudik, then tell them they will have to watch this music video non-stop on the way back.

Mudik in a deceptive manor. Turn around the cars and motors but OK to spend for airfare on state owned airline.

Well for all the brouha, media and TV interviews. lots of out of town plates are cruising around Pacitan.

And a lot of movement between Bali and Java.
Seems cars or busses are not allowed (except freight) but pedestrians is ok.

What is it that makes people here mass together like that. Be it a ferry or pasar. A lack of being educated on the risk? An attitude that it won't infect them? Just not caring because they want to do something and no one should interfere? I just don't understand them. Where is the faiure coming from?
