KITAS to KITAP conversion in the new evisa system

Just to ask. With the new system do we still need to give them our passport to hold onto for a month or just wait for the pass online?

If they hold the passport , it will not be for long as in the face-to-face process (as the approval & sending the e-ITAP is now supposed to be very quick - see the Regulation below) . I think Immigration will ask you to come for the photo/fingerprints (at the end of the process) and bring the passport , and as usual , few days later you may go there to take the passport back .

(2) Granting of a ITAP is completed within a maximum period of 3 working days after the Immigration fees is received.

Article 126
(3) Granting of a ITAP shall be completed within a maximum period of 5 working days from the date the application is received by the Directorate General of Immigration.

So according to this I should have it by next week? Because it makes you pay the fee immediately with the application.

During the application it also had said that we wouldn’t need to go back to immigration because the paper would be available to download. So I take it there is no more card or sticker then as well 😅

Do you mean : in the same minute that you submit all the documents , Immigration sent you the data for you to pay ?

Yes , it looks like .

Yes. The system gives you the payment code as soon as you submit and gives you 7 days to pay it. When we asked immigration today they just said if they need anything else they'll let us know within 4 business days. But weren't clear if this was for approval or just to say they have all the documents

So Immigration changed its procedure . In the past we did receive the data to pay only after Immigration was sure there was no pending document .

I would prefer how it was in the past , but anyway , I think that the probability to fail is very low .

I prefer it like that also.

I just feel irritated because they made me get a letter saying we are still married that took us going through to like 5 offices and a week to get. Then the only files it asked to upload were our marriage certificate and the guarantor letter.

I never heard of this requirement before and it is not in the Regulation (see below) .

One of the advantages of the online system is that we all will follow exactly the same rules regardless of where we live .

PerMen no.22 Year 2023 - free translation
Article 175
A request to change the status of an ITAS to an ITAP is submitted by a foreigner, Guarantor, or responsible person through an application ... by attaching:
a. Valid passport;
b. integration statement except for children under 18 years of age and unmarried;
c. ITAS of the foreigner concerned;
d. proof of guarantee from the Guarantor in the case of having a Guarantor;
e. KTP and/or KK of the Guarantor or responsible person if applicable; and
f. ITAP of the husband, wife, father, mother, or child, in the case of joining the husband, wife, father, mother, or child of the ITAP's holder.

This is the list of stuff they gave me to prepare for the conversion. The one they gave before that was the same minus the last item. This is the list they based everything off of when we went in last week to talk to them as well. Funny thing is the pamphlets they have in the desk are still the old ones as well

It's been the 4 working days that the local office had told me, but no news from anywhere so I asked the Ditjen customer service. And got this as a response

So hopefully it's correct. Which would mean next Monday.

Update on the whole situation so they do need all the stupid files in this order this is for Bandung at least. Was a pain to try and make the files small enough.

In the supporting document section, please merge and attach the required documents in this order:

1. Application letter to Bandung Immigration Office signed by the Indonesian spouse;

2. Sponsorship letter with a stamp duty attached to it signed by the Indonesian spouse;
3. Scan of sponsor’s ID card (KTP), family card, and birth certificate;

4. Scan of marriage book/certificate and affidavit of marriage/Certificate of No Impediment to Marry (CNI) issued by the embassy (if the marriage takes place in Indonesia) or Scan of marriage certificate and foreign marriage registration letter issued by the Indonesia Civil Registry Service Office (for non-Islamic marriage) or Religious Affairs Office/Kantor Urusan Agama/KUA (for Islamic marriage) (if the marriage takes place abroad);

5. Scan of the foreigner’s ITAS;

6. Scan of the foreigner’s passport biometric page;

7. Scan of the foreigner’s certificate of domicile or SKTT (Surat Keterangan Tempat Tinggal);

8.Scan of letter issued by the Indonesia Civil Registry Service Office (for non-Islamic marriage) or Religious Affairs Office/Kantor Urusan Agama/KUA (for Islamic marriage) stating that the applicant and the Indonesian spouse are still married; and

9. Integration Statement signed on top of a duty stamp signed on top of a duty stamp.

Merge these documents into one pdf file before uploading it and make sure the file is not more than 5 MB in size.

(Attention: If you still have not uploaded the right documents after being pending 3 times, you have to come to the Immigration Office.

Otherwise, your application will be reviewed for rejection.

What is an integration statement?

What is an integration statement?

There is a format for a letter that basically states that you will abide by the Pancasila, the constitution, all the laws, and learn Indonesian.

Basically a signed document saying you'll become as Indonesian as possible

I forgot to mention above but you can't submit the paperwork in person until they have asked for more 3 times. (This is your local immigration office doing the verification. But you need to still do it online) We submitted everything on the laptop Infront of him. Now we play the waiting game.

Fine if you've got the facilities to scan , upload , merge et etc . What about the people that don't have access to equipment to scan , merge , upload or use whatsapp and Iphones etc etc . Are you an Immigration Indonesia employee or a private agent ?

You had already uploaded all these documents (except the proof of still married) when you first submitted the online application last week , right ?

There was no place to upload them and no instructions to combine them into a single file previously.

They seriously don't check anything until after 4 working days after payment. So the day you pay doesn't count.

The only two files it asked for were the marriage certificate and then the guarantor letter. The local office is the one who put the note above to combine everything into a file and upload it all at once.

On the first part of the application you upload a passport photo and a picture of your passport bio page as well. They need to be Jpeg format.

I've got a scanner from the early 2000s and Adobe Acrobat. If you just have a phone I think you can use CamScanner and an online combiner, would probably help with the file size as well. I had to reduce 100MB of scanned files into less than 5. Took almost an hour to do that. Luckily I scanned everything before.

It's just my wife and I doing my visa. We've never used an agent other than getting into the country the first time during Covid. That was a nightmare to deal with when trying to get them to sign off on the paper saying that they are no longer my sponsor/guarantor.

Cost us 3 million for them to sign the paper because immigration needed it. So yeah never used an agent again.

Agreed, I know people 70+ who don't even know how to do internet banking or do a Wise transfer...
Only choice is using an agent.
Same as me as with a retirement visa an agent is mandatory, as he is your sponsor.
Anyway I dealt anough with custom, immigration, police, fire brigade etc during my professionnal life in exotic countries and there is no way I will do it again now.

Using the Agent is much easier than what this man and his wife did! Even having to pay an agent just to not use him anymore! What they went through, sounds like a marathon of Headache to me! No Thanks!
And besides, the Agent needs to make a living Too! 👍✌️

I had to get a letter from the Australian Consulate in Surabaya saying my marriage was recognized in Australia . 800,000rp . When I returned to the office there was a different officer handling expat/orang asing applications , she said the Marriage book /Buku Nikah was sufficient . Every office and every officer within each office tends to have there own interpretation of the rules/laws. The old system where you went to the office was a lot less complicated , I'm not looking forward to doing my Unlimited/Lifetime Kitap in 2027 if it's got to be done on-line . I'm a dinosaur , lucky to turn the laptop on let alone navigate all this modern technology .
