Has anyone been through this process with the new evisa website? I can't find any button or combination of choices that start to convert or beralih status to KITAP

I went to my local immigration office (kelas I), and they said it must be applied online.
Their chat online said I should go to a local immigration office

I'm in Riau. I am wondering if I should just fly to Jakarta to do this? but we have a newborn so this isn't so simple.

I didn't do it yet , but I suggest you to :
First "login" or "create an account" at https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/front/login (in your sponsor's name if applicable)

Second go to https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/web/services , and "apply" for a "Stay Permit" .
I am wondering if I should just fly to Jakarta to do this? ...
Jakarta's main Immigration Office may give explanations about the online process , but I guess your local Kantor Imigrasi also can do that .
But for face-to face process request , either you deal with your city's Kantor Imigrasi , or online .

Thank you for the reply. FYI, I am the spouse of an Indonesian national who is also my garauntor, so we are doing this together. In her garauntor account, we've navigated to the services page. Once there, there are no additional buttons. That does not appear to be the place to apply for visas, but rather to check existing ones. There, we can search for and identify my active KITAS. I have the option of two actions: "Change Data - Garauntor", and "Bridging Stay Permit." We don't want either of these.

Perhaps instead you meant to click on Apply so I can start a new stay visa? We have tried this too. If I choose the most appropriate options, which in my case are:
Traveling on a passport from: United States
Main purpose of visit: General, Family, or Social
Sub purpose: Family Dependant
I want to choose visa: E31B Spouse Visa
I am planning to stay:

Now I only have the option of 1 or 2 years. However, I am looking for the 5 year KITAP. I believe it still exists, but I hope someone could correct me if I'm wrong.

In my view , Jakarta will not accept this type of process from a foreigner living elsewhere .
Either you deal with your local Kantor Imigrasi , or online .
What do you mean by this? I am a foreigner, yes, but I live in Sumatra. I've been in Indonesia on an extended KITAS for 2 years, am married, and have an Indonesian national child here. I would be going to Jakarta with my wife as my garauntor who would be involved in the process.

Do you think they'd actually just turn us away if we went to the office in Jakarta?

Basically I only have this idea to go there because my local kantor imigrasi told me the conversion is mailed out through pusat, to which I asked clarification, and they meant the pusat in Jakarta.

I'm just so puzzled, because in the old website, I remember seeing the options so clearly. It let you choose between KITAS and KITAP and proceed with the appropriate application.

In the new EVISA website, I can't figure it out (yet).. still trying! And the chatbot is no help either. It even tries to point me to the old defunct website in one of its replies.

No !

For face-to-face immigration processes , some require approval from the city's Kantor Imigrasi , the Province's Immigration Office (Kantor Wilayah) , and the main Immigration Office (Directorate General) . But you must initiate the process at your local Kantor Imigrasi .

By "pusat" they meant the main Immigration Office (Immigration Directorate General) .

Well thanks for your input. I appreciate you trying to respond.

Based on some new info I have, I believe I am experiencing a technical issue in the website, because my KITAS and guarantor were both completed in the old system, and have not properly migrated to the new evisa system. I will have to email immigration and ask if that is the case.

Long-story short: I believe but do not yet know for sure, that my guarantor's account needs to be re-linked to my existing KITAS, and only then my guarantor would see a convert button.

In the meantime, I would still greatly appreciate anyone reaching out if they have been successful at KITAS to KITAP conversion in the new evisa system (ie. after April 2024).

If you have a laptop or tablet , I suggest you to bring it to your local Kantor Imigrasi and ask them to help you .

Otherwise , try asking online through email , Facebook , Instagran , or X . See https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/front/info/contact-us

This new EVISA system is a total F up . Jember Immigration office here in Jawa Timur have gone to a Siber site , like trying to find a needle in a haystack if you don't use an Iphone and aren't very tech savy . The old websites were great . Can't even get a reply to an email , facebook message , or an answer to a phone call lately . Everything bloody thing is Instagram or WhatsCrapp .

Are you submitting all the paperwork online or you still have to go to your local immigration to submit it?

Go into your account , click on My application, then Stay Permit, click on where it says Action then select convertion and follow the prompts. It's easy as..

On the Evisa.Immigrasi.go.id website:

1. Login to your Spouse / Sponsor Account
2. Click on the 3-bar icon at the top right corner
3. Select Services
4. Select Number 2 - Stay Permit
5. At the top line, this should your latest ITAS / KITAS
6. On the far right, under Action, Select Conversion

Thanks for these replies. It should have been this easy, but the problem I was unknowingly facing (having never done this before), is that the stay permit did not populate on the gaurantor account. This is the same one we used to extend the KITAS so it makes no sense it isn't there. Therefore, number 4 in the above instructions could not be followed. I could 'search' for it, and it appeared as valid, but when it searched, it still did not attach to the list, and therefore the options to extend or convert never populated as clickable.

I ended up getting around this in a way that I am still not sure is such a good idea, so I can't recommend doing this for others. It involved literally copying a url from my account (non-guarantor) and logging into the spouse and pasting it into the browser. This allowed me to access the conversion application from the guarantor account finally.

We were able to apply, and hari +3 we received a request for a couple extra documents, which we promptly submitted. I am now at hari +24 with no updates. Getting concerned with bulan puasa around the corner. KITAS expires in ~4 more weeks. The website says "waiting confirmation"

We do know it's in the system though, dalam status 'menunggu keputusan' in ditjen. One of my local imigrasi people were able to get a screenshot of it in the system.

Hope it goes fine from here...

I just tried for the first time , and my ITAS did not appear too . It appeared after I typed its number/passport no. myself (it looks like that for "old" ITAS , Immigration wants a little help from us) .

The Indonesian spouse is not a "guarantor" but yes , it seems you need to use the Indonesian spouse's account .

Because you applied with more than 30 days before the expiry date of the ITAS , I think you don't need to worry (see below) .

PerMen no.22 Year 2023
Article 174
(1) Foreigners may be granted a change in status from a ITAS into a ITAP based on an application.
(2) The application as referred to in paragraph (1) must be submitted no later than 30 days before the ITAS expires.

Article 180
Applications for changing the status of a ITAS into a ITAP that have been submitted and immigration fees have been paid before the end of the ITAS period, are not considered overstay, if the completion of the change in status of the Stay Permit exceeds the period of the ITAS.

Will I still be able to convert my Kitas to Kitap in June through my agent? Or are agents a thing of the past now? I assume my agent is my Guarantor, sponsor, or whoever it is that keep the ball rolling for me. I want to get the five year Kitap stay permit this coming June.

On the Evisa.Immigrasi.go.id website:
1. Login to your Spouse / Sponsor Account
2. Click on the 3-bar icon at the top right corner

My experience :
1. Went to https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/web/services
2. Signed In (Indonesian spouse's account)
3. Selected "Services"
4. "Applied" "Staypemit"
Note : My ITAS didn't appear , so at the bottom of the page I chose "Find existing Stay Permit"
4.1. Typed "Permit number" and "Passport number" , selected "Check" , then ITAS' full data appeared
5. Selected the green "Action" (at the end of the lower right side) , the following options appeared : Extend , Conversion , Change Data , Bridging Stay Permit , Reporting , and Exit Permit Only.

Will I still be able to convert my Kitas to Kitap in June through my agent?
Yes (if you are finishing at least your 3rd consecutive ITAS) .

But for the 5 years KITAP your agent (like my former agent) may charge you more than 5 times the cost of a year ITAS extension . And if you don't have an income of US$5'000 per month , you will need to have a 5 times more money in the bank compared to an ITAS extension .

I understand that I would have to pay for the full five years, for the five year stay permit. I also understand that the agent would charge more, because it is his business, and he needs an income for his services. Hopefully not an arm and a leg! I will have already completed already five years Kitas this coming June.
I was paying 9jt. Per year for the Kitas. Is the Kitap much more? I was assuming it would be comparable, and I can afford to pay that, for the new five year Kitap. But, do they really want you to have $5000 per month, or five times more in the bank, on top of the permit cost? 🤷🏼‍♂️
You're talking $25,000 if I'm not mistaken?

The price as of December 2024 is 10,200,000 Rp for the Kitas to Kitap conversion /Ahli Status including the new 5 year Merp . If your agent charged you 9jt , "nearly triple the official fee "for the kitas I wouldn't be surprised if he asks for 25jt plus for the Kitap . If the agent is your sponsor your stuck with him , if not and you are on a Spouse Kitas look at doing it yourself .

... I was paying 9jt. Per year for the Kitas. Is the Kitap much more? ...
My former agent was charging 8jt (in 2022) for the Retirement KITAS , and asked 45jt for the Retirement KITAP (the agent himself suggested me to continue with the KITAS) .

But maybe now with the online system procedures this distortion had been corrected , as my former agent implied that it was more difficult to get the KITAP (compared with the KITAS) from Immigration , in the face-to-face system .
But, do they really want you to have $5000 per month,
The US$5000 per month proof is the requirement to be eligible for the Retirement KITAS & KITAP .

PerMen no.11 Year 2024
Article 61
(1) Application for a temporary stay visa for elderly aged 55 years or over ... (must include) :
c. proof of having living expenses for himself/herself and/or his/her family while in Indonesia; (now US$2000 per month)
(2) ... proof of income or allowances with a value of US$3,000 per month.
Poster's Note : The above refers to the Visa , but also applicable to KITAS & KITAP
... $5000 per month, or five times more in the bank, on top of the permit cost? You're talking $25,000 if I'm not mistaken?
Example : If you have only a monthly pension of US$1'500 , you need US$3'500 per month more in the bank to cover the total $5k per month, meaning :
a) For an one year KITAS you would need a bank proof of US$42'000 ($3'500 x 12) ;
b) For a 5 years KITAP it would be a bank proof of US$210'000 ($3'500 x 60) .
Note : This is how I interprete the rule (because when I had the Retirement KITAS I did not have any monthly income , so I presented a bank proof only , at that time it was required only US$1'500 per month, meaning a $18'000 bank proof for the KITAS) .

Ok, as I understand this 10,200,000Rp is for 1 year right? So I assume multiply that by 5 is 51,000,000 for the five year permit? If I did it myself through immigration. Are you saying my agent might charge me 25Rp for 1 year Kitap, thus for 5 years he would ask 125,000,000Rp for the five year Stay permit? Sorry if my math is wrong. These numbers rattle my brain!
Why would the Kitap be so much more expensive?
