DON'T PANIC.... well, maybe a little bit.

Sinovac and Sinpharm vaccines need 1-2 months after the second shot to start working. Otherwise, they are relatively safe and effective.
Do you have a linkable source for that? I tried a Google search and found an article saying
"Current figures show that the protection rate of Sinovac vaccines within two months after administering two shots is 80-90 percent, but the number of antibodies in recipients declines with time."
Based on that language I suspect they merely tested for antibodies 2 months after the second shot, not weekly to see more precisely when the antibody count climbed. That article is nearly 4 months old, perhaps there is newer data or data they missed when writing that article?

More fall out from that terrible article that was posted here the other day:

Basically they use the Dutch version of VAERS in USA to wrongfully conclude that vaccines are dangerous. VAERS is simply collecting all health issues I have after I receive the vaccine regardless of cause. If I die from a heart attack it would still be included in VAERS. The purpose of the data collection is to identify correlation, so scientists can research it and see if there’s causation. As we all know, correlation does not automatically mean causation.

The people submitting the paper assumed that all deaths after Covid vaccination is due to the vaccine, which is a gross misinterpretation of the data.

Ironically the same conspiracy theorists in USA claim that Covid death numbers are inflated by hospitals, through false categorization of all deaths as Covid-related.

Megawati's sister has just died. Probably the biggest Corona death here so far?
One of Soekarno's daughters, yes probably the most well-known person here to have died. She was 70, so less shocking. The Jogja DPRD member who just died was only 30. Goes to show that those with both youth and wealth/power are not immune either.

We went to the grade school together and the source said that she was refused to be vaccinated.
My condolences...

Source from a doctor in hospital handling covid patients (the ones that are sometimes in scaphanders) for almost one year.

As I said since the beginning, vaccine is NOT the miracle cure that everybody waz dreaming of. Specially not when made in 6 months and barely tested.
The real scale test is happening now, and the population are the laboratory mouses....
The vaccine is one tool among several others, nothing more.

I don’t know of anybody claiming that vaccines are miracle cures, especially in Indonesia where the widely available Sinovac version has about 65% efficacy. It means only 2 out of 3 vaccinated people are protected from infection. There have been about 60K deaths due to Covid in Indonesia, if everybody was vaccinated, it would have been less than 20K.

The mRNA vaccines are actually a bigger miracle cure than the experts were even hoping, with efficacy of 90+% against infection and essentially 100% against severe disease and death. The other vaccines like Sinovac, AstraZeneca, etc are also well within the realm of effectiveness that is expected of vaccines.

The rising cases in Israel is still a very small increase, and more importantly is an increase in cases not deaths. The vaccines are slightly less effective against the Delta variant, but still very effective, especially at preventing death. The UK is perhaps the most interesting country right now, they have high vaccination rates, are getting hit hard with the Delta variant, cases have shot up sharply, and yet look at the deaths, they are still extremely low: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/uk/

In Yogyakarta's main public hospital, 63 people died overnight as the hospital ran out of oxygen.

Even though efforts were made to resupply and conserve oxygen, it ran out on Saturday evening and was only resupplied on Sunday morning. For the 63 people, it was not fast enough.

Actually, the efficacy against death is even higher than 65%, something like 95% against the original variant. The 65% is efficacy against symptomatic sickness.

Vaccines are but one tool. If it reduces the chance of death by ~90%, then Covid-19 can be likened to "just the flu".

You waste your time guys. Medical experts, WHO and the like can say whatever they want, I know better. I have seen a bit in my life and don't care. Allez hop! As I say since the beginning, I take off my mask and go sip my Bintang on the beach.*

After news like this people will start hoarding oxygen bottles. Getting scarry a little bit.

They closed the beach ..... must be bloody dangerous ?
But riding the subway or bus packed like sardines in the big cities is not a problem .....
Positive side : I am gonna save quite a bit of beer and resto money !

I do think beach closures are a bit silly.
The police sent me home when I was out for a walk in Jakarta today (along sudirman). They weren't particularly strict about it but were eager for me to leave the area (I continued with my walk - just avoiding the Sudirman and the police didn't seem to mind).

Another thing that I have difficulties to understand :

"after it emerged that the Delta variant is now present in at least 98 countries" (Guardian).

With all the hassle imposed on travel how is this possible ? I know that the checkings, quarantine, etc are pretty strict in Jakarta, and Bali but still the thing slipped through and spread like wildfire !
OK, Mudik has probably a part of responsability but still....

1.Because there are thousands of flights still moving daily & no matter what precautions there are, an aeroplane is still a small narrow tube with no open windows. Everyone onboard, 2 metres distant or not is gonna be sucking in those particles for the duration of the flight. Then there are ships, and land borders.
2.Because there are still people who believe their pathetic travel reasons are essential.
3.Because people don't believe the virus is real
Lots of reasons why it has spread
4.Mainly because countries cannot be self sufficient any longer, governments are useless & their citizens are too entitled to be able to deal with anything remotely considered discipline.
