The situation is going to get pretty sticky for a while, but there are some heartening things...
Yesterday the streets of Bandung were almost empty.. Midday on a Thursday- I have never seen it like that in all my years here.
PVJ mall was a ghost town, the car park was pretty much empty, the employees were taking it all very seriously even when no customers in the shops they were standing quite a distance from each other chatting. One had to have temp. checked on entry to the mall & use hand sanitizer.
At each store hand sanitizer was provided, the employees in Carrefour at the checkout were all wearing gloves.
Personally, I carry Dettol wipes around with me so that I can wipe surfaces & my hands if no alternatives available. I guess any wetwipe will be more useful than none.
I don't think the social distancing is there to stop/erradicate the disease, but it can at the very least prove effective in drastically cutting the numbers.
So, well done Bandung citizens!
The one thing Indonesia is pretty good at is not touching people, unlike Italy perhaps?
Indonesia isn't big on PDAs or at least not in my area... anyway enough dawdling and procrastinating from me- working from home/online beckons.

I had my temperature checked too at the entrance of Lotte. My driver who was parking got it too a few minutes after me. I was 35,5 while he was 34.
I couldn't retain a huge smile and the results apparently surprised or alerted none of the Lotte staff. I hope the ventilators work a bit better.

Prices for these thermometer guns (before mark-ups for panic-buying profiteering) range from Rp100,000 to Rp2 million. You get what you pay for, but most of the guns need to be calibrated. That is, you test the temperature of a couple of people with normal oral thermometers. Then test them with the thermometer gun. If there is any difference, you should press the settings/mode button to get into a calibration mode, then move the display reading up or down by 0.1 degrees at a time to make it accurate. Not difficult, but many of the people pointing and clicking them don't seem to know how to do the calibration. So these checks are essentially a waste of time.

Yep, and I encountered even many 'LOW', and after uncountable failed attempts always between 34 and 35°
Their instructions are clear; only above 38° there is a problem.

but ya know, they are trying.
I doubt there is one of them medically trained. Skin temp is naturally lower than inner ear temp.

Same here. Even though I am working from home (online teaching), we have been instructed not to leave Jakarta.

Italy exceeded China's already heavy death toll yesterday. Italy is now hit the hardest with 3,405 deaths. (China 3,245 deaths) The comparison with China at the same point in the contamination track shows how bad the situation is: China 'only' had 1,369 deaths at this point (they look at the 20th death as starting point).
Spain is also struggling and is even heading for a higher death rate than Italy. On day 11 after the 20th death, Spain had 820 deaths, while Italy had 463 at that moment.
Germany is doing relatively well, they have the smallest amount of deaths, even less than the Netherlands -a much smaller country- in absolute numbers.
Belgium's measures exceed practically all others. There's a ban on gathering which means that not more than three people are allowed in public places, all vacation centers are closed, there is a maximum amount of people per m2 etc. etc.

Ferries and also Pelni are widely available to go just about anywhere. Flying to remote towns is really a new phenomenon (last 20 years, I would say).
