DON'T PANIC.... well, maybe a little bit.

As for the situation in Bali right now...it's not great. The island is over reliant on tourism, and this is perhaps the one unique time where you won't get any tourists for a while. Volcanoes or terrorism scares aren't nearly as bad: they are localized, many people will come anyway, etc. But no one is coming if they literally can't come.

Many hotels are closing after Nyepi, which is the last time some domestic tourists are expected. We will see how Lebaran plays out.

At this point, maybe we should let the Chinese back in....they seem to have things handled...

Or they can take this opportunity to do a cleansing, Boracay style.

While China is congratulating itself for controlling COVID-19 this might be a bit premature. It will be critical to see how things work once everyone comes out of lockdown and resumes normal life patterns. I still think it is wait and see,

And the Ministry of Health still perseveres they tested many more than what they can show for....🙄

Spain is doing worse than Italy.

The death toll has risen to 767 in Spain, according to figures released by the Ministry of Health. In 24 hours, that number has increased by nearly 30%.

According to the Spanish Ministry, 169 fatalities since yesterday and 1,107 new infections detected, bringing the total number in Spain to 17,147.

About a third of Spaniards who tested positive for the coronavirus are older than 65. And 18% are older than 75. Of course, with the different testing policies in the different countries, that doesn't say so much.

Even if the tv store closes, you can still go to Hypermart, Carrefour, etc to buy a tv.
Carrefour PVJ mall in Bandung is where we went- EMPTY! Absolutely EMPTY. Only people there were staff andmaybe about 10 others shopping.
The streets thru Bandung- EMPTY, feeling proud of the people for being pretty smart and staying home.
And order everything online. Even cheaper.

That also works for medication and daily groceries btw. We just ordered 3 kilo eggs, 1 kilo of butter, and a DVB-T antenna.
I didn't want to risk a motorcycle delivery of a telly in what is still rainy season.
PS we got a great deal 2juta discount.
Question to those people who are already purchasing medication: Do you already buy because you fear it won't be available anymore soon or because you already noticed symptoms of illness? And are you part of the risk group (age/diseases)?

I am usually the type of patient who buys medication only if really necessary. But now, if the medication might not be available anymore soon, it makes me think. But as far as I know the chances of getting healthy again are also very good without medication. Or am I wrong? If the chances without medication are also fine, (since being around 35 years) I would tend to trust my body's defense system and leave the medication for people who are more threatened by the disease.

Since yesterday's evening, I am noticing low symptoms. I hope it is just a cold that I caught. But for community's safety reasons I will quarantine myself, and will also research if the symptoms fit covid or regular flu/cold. For now I will not go to a doctor since, as far as we know from the news, there are not so many test kits yet and probably better to leave them for people in a more critical condition. And I think, beside the possibility of having a test, the benefit from a visit at the doctor is lower than the risk of getting another disease.
I try to keep a stock of mixed types of antibiotics in, as a smoker, cough cough I do tend to pick up a nasty chest infection at least once a year in Feb/March it only ever seems to clear after a dose of penicillin.. However, my hubby doesn't drive (he has his SIM A - but means little) nor does he deserve to be oin the streets on a scooter, so I think ahead & prep ahead, mainly because if I am too ill with an infection to get out i have the means to start healing.
The ojek/gs are gone from our part of the mountain now. The local warung is closed now. It is only early days, I think things will get quite shady later.
What I would advise for you being as i am such a not at all qualified medic hahaha- get honey in, proper stuff not the pathetic excuse sold in many places, honey is a cureall a natural protector, get some lemons in and some comfort food, get some menthol massage oil or Vick's vapour rub in , whatever it is you would use for comfort with a usual head cold.
Maybe some ginger root too- mashed up in honey & hot water & lemon juice drink is soothing- I won't charge you for this - community spirit & all that jazz.

:ROFLMAO::LOL: get well soon & do keep us posted on your condition, we like to know details in here ;)

I....just....can't.... :(:(

Diplomats were told at a recent briefing that only 2,000 “critical care” beds were available across Indonesia, of which 40% were already taken up by patients suffering from non-virus diseases, including dengue fever. Some have suggested Covid-19 is being misdiagnosed, intentionally or otherwise, as dengue.

Although there are now 360 hospitals set aside for coronavirus referrals, specialized testing and other equipment to deal with the pandemic is limited. Earlier, when there were only 132 Covid-19 designated hospitals, only 88 ventilators were available. In West Kalimantan, there is only one.

Update about possible drugs.

Remdesivir and Avigan

The former is completely new, originally developed to fight Ebola, now it will be fasttracked since it looks very promising in vivo, clinical studies on bigger patient groups are set up and have almost started.

The latter is Japanese, originally developed to fight influenza. Seems to be more suited for the not so advanced 'lighter' cases.

I watched Trump's press conference last night and I was impressed that he said the word hydroxychloroquine correctly several times.

US State Dept has issued an announcement instructing all American travelers to return home as soon as possible or make arrangements for indefinite stays where they are located.

What did you expect? 10.000 beds and 5.000 ventilators?

I was kinda hoping for at least 500 ventilators...lol.

Also the incredible stupidity of assigning hospitals without ventilators to deal with a severe respiratory disease pandemic is just mind blowing.

So far almost everything the Indo gov't has done is just PR...

Door # 2 for me. Currently waiting for Air China to cancel my end-of-May & returning mid-June flights to the US. I figure it will be easier to get a refund after the airline cancels the flights.
