True, but the atmosphere is also important. The Cafe restaurant of Mulia hotel lately is crowded with families who bring their anak-anak yang crying, shouting and running. For me ..Depends what you want in your buffet? Just rice and soup or every species of lobster caviar meat steak lamb fruits seafood etc etc.
If you are close to there then also check out raffles Art cafeJW Marriot / Sailendra sounds good and is just around the corner for me. I will call them today.

Singapore Sling ...Arts cafe is not very big selection actually, you paying for the Raffles name which inside Indonesia no one knows
Even outside, its only famous for Singapore and the disgusting ready made Sling which the tourists love, you should go to the other bar and get the real version hand made
Paying Rp.688,000 for a single meal in Indonesia ?? Mehhhh ...Not really. It says
Additional beverage package is available
Yes, I agree. I spent in JW Marriot Sailendra Rp. 675.000 for 2 persons, based on the promo pay 1 get 2. Still good deal. My wife and I are not big eaters. If I had to pay full price, I would feel "rugi"Paying Rp.688,000 for a single meal in Indonesia ?? Mehhhh ...
The harsh reality in Indonesia (not just limited to Jakarta), is that spending Rp.688,000 on one meal is equivalent to seven months' net salary for the majority of people. In Indonesia, there's a tendency to inflate prices for various things like restaurants and rents, mimicking the practices of developed countries where the costs of labour, salaries, land, raw materials, etc., are considerably higher. They prefer those places, property vacant for prolonged duration of time. Just observe how long they could stay in this business practice.
"According to a report from the Statista Research Department dated September 19, 2023, the real estate industry emerged as the highest-paying sector in Indonesia as of February 2023, offering an average monthly net wage of around 4.82 million Indonesian rupiah. In contrast, the agricultural sector was the lowest-paying industry. Interestingly, when considering the number of people employed, the situation is reversed."

It's a buffet, so it depends what is on offer....Paying Rp.688,000 for a single meal in Indonesia ?? Mehhhh ...
This even further strengthens the argument that the food at this establishment is overprice. Buffets are expected to cost less than individually prepared meals (à la carte) offering the same dishes. This is primarily due to the advantages of economies of scale and increased labour and space efficiency. It's a buffet, so it depends what is on offer....
Comparing to the average local salary is irrelevant, would you compare the price of a 5 star buffet in a top Paris or London hotel with the country's minimum salary ?
Had regulary nice buffet lunches when living in BKK, the real killer is the drinks.
One aperitif each and a decent bottle of wine (no Aussie or US stuff...) will cost you a bit of $ $ $ !
You would be surprised. In the Mulia Hotel (restaurant The Cafe) it was packed on the two times I was there this month. Same at the restaurant Grand Melia a month ago. At JW Marriot (Sailendra) luckely not crowded and only adults last Thursday, no kids running around like in The Mulia.I doubt that a substantial number of affluent residents in Jakarta would be interested in dining at a buffet restaurant.
More tricks according to this vlogger...It's a buffet, so it depends what is on offer....
