Bali deports expats

Looks like Indonesia is opening up visa on arrivals to more Central American citizens.

Over the last two months, the conversation around how Bali could, or should, tackle the behavior of a small minority of unruly tourists has reached a fever pitch. Now the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, is proposing drastic measures to curb tourism on the island

The governor wants to copy the measures of Bhutan, I checked what kind.
Maybe with some 'adaptasi' it could work in Bali.

Visiting Bhutan is not cheap – unless you’re from SAARC counties (India, Bangladesh and some other counties), you need to buy a tour to visit Bhutan. The government set a minimum daily fee for a tour – $200 per during a low season and $250 during the high season.

So why is Bhutan so expensive? Well, it’s honestly the decision of the government – they don’t want a high volume of tourists that would change the lifestyle of the country. They want a few high paying tourists and setting a minimum tour fee is a perfect way to reach that. Bhutan emphasizes the quality of the tourists and not the quantity and the high price of the tours ensure that people coming are interested in the country.

However, you aren’t just paying $200-$250 per person per day for nothing – you get a very good tour car, a guide and a driver, all meals and all hotels included. If you don’t buy souvenirs and don’t tip anyone, you can leave the country without spending a cent more!

However, there is an additional charge for couples and solo travellers Bhutan prefers groups and people coming alone or as a couple need to pay more.

There is also only one way in. Bangkok air flight. The only flight in and out of Bhutan
Sit on the left if you want to see Everest

Same with airlines here. Hit 30 and you are sacked. Nevermind you have the experience we need, but you look like an old hag[/airlines logic].
When did they start that? I haven't flown so much the past year but in my experience a lot of GA crew are well past 40.

Been a while and I found out about it in maybe March 2019. I was supposed to have a teaching job which part of it included teaching flight attendants English.

  • Thanks!

Not really (to get on the plane, everybody has to show their pasports) ... foreigners arriving on the ferries is more difficult.
You don't necessarily have to show a passport to board. Government issued ID other than a passport works.

Okay ... the point is .. foreigners can be detected on flights to Bali.

Difficult to sort residents from tourists that way though. Blocking tourists going to Bali from other points in Indonesia would be tough to enforce at any rate.

Not going to be easy, but 'bisa' .. the governor of Bali needs to come up with some policy or measure, that's why he is looking at Bhutan. My advice .. steal the good ideas. Maybe "visa khusus Bali (VKB)" .. extra "kerja untuk imigrasi" ... 🤣

Are they a pilot or flight attendant? If they are a pilot, then I would hope they don't have a age restriction(apart from retirement). Flight attendants, different story.

No way for VKB. Absolutely impossible. Visa is not under his authority. Bali is just a province in Indonesia. He is not in the position to refuse anybody with valid documents to enter the country.
He just want to get sympathy after ridiculous u20 statement to save his a*$
