A new era of world wide poverty

I remember an article 15 years ago saying that Jakarta traffic would be completely gridlocked by 2014. (that was based on extrapolation). Whereas if I compare, now in 2023, there seems to be less traffic in Jakarta than there was 10 years ago. I wouldn't say there are more floods either.

Similar to the Malthusian Theory of Population that says that the world's population grows faster than the food supply, inevitably leading to starvation reducing the earth's population.
This theory failed to anticipate the development of new (agriculural) technologies.

What environmental problem is worsening exponentially?
In your example of water in the pool, it wouldn't go from half full to full in a second.
See the footage from 7:50 min ...

Yes on a global, worldwide scale.
Not true on a regional or.country scale.
Look at the growth of the population on the African continent... How are they going to provide jobs and a decent life environment for all those people ?
And if they fail, guess where the mass migration will head to ?

Note that the trend is exactly the opposite in most Western countries, if one excludes immigration (also in South Korea, Japan and China).

Ever heard the mention " The great replacement" ?

Mathematics don't lie !

Mass migration has always happened in history. Look at the "birth" of the U.S. !
Without mass migration from Europe it would never have happened.

The flows just change from direction over time....

Interesting days ahead, lucky I won't be around anymore !

Mathematics don't lie !
Most people will opt for a linear salary contract with a fixed raise of 100 euros per month. Only mathematicians choose that 1 euro salary contract with monthly doubling.

I have, but in the context of it being a white nationalist boogieman. Perhaps you mean it in a different way?
Yes, in the mathematical way.....

And with a look at history over 2000 years.

A quick example : Palestine becoming Israel, the Palestinians being pushed out of their land by Jews arriving in masses after WW2.

Immigrants taking over whole areas of Paris suburbs, etc...

Or simply European hordes invading America, exterminating the locals and rebaptizing the country (name, religion, customs...)
Now , THAT is an good example of "Great Replacement".

10,000 Quebec residents evacuated due to wildfires, huge area destroyed, 3 June 2023

About 10,000 residents of the Canadian province of Quebec were evacuated Friday because of the wildfires. Canada is experiencing an exceptionally intense wildfire season.

The Premier of Quebec is urging people to stay away from forests in the coming days. A state of emergency has been declared in the coastal city of Sept-Iles. Quebec authorities have asked the federal government for military assistance. "Climate change may make these types of impacts from extreme weather events more frequent and more severe in our country," said Emergency Situations Secretary Blair.

The "invaders" don't need to exterminate the locals nowadays...
Just beat them in numbers (natality rate...)

Remember the British Empire ruling India ? Now the U.K. has an Indian P.M. at the head of the government....

I agree. It's also a great business opportunity for organizations which cater to the new arrivals...or which take advantage of cheaper labour costs.

It doesn't need to be ethnicity either - look at what has happened here in Hong Kong over the past few years. Slow creeping changes that have definitely transformed society.

Yep, I lived / worked in HKG from 2009 till 2017. Saw the changes coming and bailed out in time !
Same situation in Turkey, where Erdogan has completely changed the orientation of the country.

But in both cases it is not a population replacing another, it is changing the mind of the existing population.

In Spain sea levels are rising due to climate change. Government surrenders ...

Some news from WRI and the University of Maryland: 36 Countries Are Gaining More Trees than They’re Losing

Unfortunately there is still a huge net loss world wide, especially primary forests. But at least some initiatives are starting to show results.
Indonesia's loss of primary forest was reduced by 37% between 2010 and 2018 (it looks like this also includes loss by forest fires)

At least 15 killed in Haiti floods, 5 June 2023

In Haiti, at least 15 people have been killed by flooding and landslides caused by heavy rainfall. Eight people are also missing, the authorities report.

More than 13,000 people in various parts of the country had to leave their homes this weekend due to the flooding. More than 1200 homes are flooded. More than 7,400 families have reported damage to their homes.

Many crops in the center of the country have been destroyed, threatening to exacerbate the famine in the country.

An article called 'How Climate Change Will Affect Plants' mentions a couple of interesting things. Including positive things. Yes they exist, although we don't hear them often in the news.

Rising levels of CO2 in the atmosphere drive an increase in plant photosynthesis...As a result, some crops such as wheat, rice and soybeans are expected to benefit from increased CO2 with an increase in yields from 12 to 14 percent...

Under elevated CO2 concentrations, plants use less water during photosynthesis.

The increase in CO2 in seawater will also increase fotosynthesis in algae and see grass, which are food to organisms higher up in the food chain.

But you need to balance that against ocean acidification which is destructive to many ecosystems

Algal bloom due to increased temperature is also harmful
