Mobil Rakyat...new cars

Talking about Mazda, the CX-30 (which would be called CX-4 if that name didn't already exist in China) is coming this year.

In Europe, it is expected in the showrooms in September. The price there should be around €30.000.

In Asia, obviously the Japanese market will be the first market to get this car. There should be a turbodiesel of 1.8 liter and a 2.0 liter gasoline engine. Automatic is an option.

The CX-30, the new SUV Coupé from Mazda, was spotted in Thailand.

So (finally) it does reach Asia (outside of Japan).

Mazda is not doing so good btw. In China and the US, their sales was more than 20% worse compared to last year. Only in Europe they are doing rather well.

The new SkyActive X engines are rather revolutionary, but hard to sell since many people want a 'turbo', shiver at the word 'diesel' technology (although it's a petrol) and Mazda's automatic gearbox and older engines had some issues, and the brand never had a high resale value.

The last model in Indonesia is the 3, and that is a hatchback which looks great at the front but weird at the back. Not a very popular niche and stiff competition from the cheaper Corolla.

I don't think the New SkyActive engines are available here yet.

In the Tokyo Motor Show Mazda (finally) presented its first Electric Vehicle (EV), the MX-30.

They try to make a real 'green' car with chaircovers that are made from recycled PET (plastic) bottles. And the center console has cork elements. (Mazda started as producer of cork products.)

Nice but somewhat quirky design and the same size (which you could guess) as the CX-30.

The price will be approx. €35K.

But with a range of only 200 km this car doesn't stand a chance.

A car which is for sale here now, is the Indian Mahindra Scorpio Pikup (or Pik-Up). It had also been introduced in Australia and New-Zealand (2nd generation facelift in 2014), as well as South Africa.

Talking about ugly...

But not a bad price between 280 and 320 Juta (single and double cab).

According to a Mahindra spokesperson, it would be possible the full SUV version would also be available in Indonesia in the near future.

A new Chevrolet TrailBlazer has shown up in China.

But since the TrailBlazer is produced in Thailand and Brazil (based on the Colorado), the chance is small this car will come to Indonesia.

It would be about time to introduce a new model though, the current second generation is from 2012.

I read in the news that GM is withdrawing from Indonesia by next year.

That's perfectly possible and rather probable*, Dave. Unlike Ford, their issue was they still had production here. Now with Wuling in the picture, that got (partly) solved.

* for Chevrolet

Well, we go rather off-topic now, but just to make a global point using that car example:

So they buy 101 Crown hybrids. Supposedly they cost 778 Juta per car.

They buy a car which is not sold here, from Japan via the largest importer and car company in the country (Astra). That way nobody really knows the price paid and the conditions. I have never read anything about a public tender. (Which should happen for transparency, see for instance the purchase of police cars in European countries.)

And these things happen constantly (infrastructure, KTP, etc. etc.) and it shows everywhere it sticks to the fingers... so the money doesn't get where it should.
Pengadaan ini dilakukan pada 19 Maret 2019 lalu. Pagu paketnya senilai Rp 152,5 miliar.
Dari hasil evaluasi, ada 3 peserta yang maju sampai tahap evaluasi. Astra memberikan harga penawaran Rp 147,23 miliar. Sedangkan New Ratna Motor memberikan harga penawaran Rp 147,31 miliar dan Hadji Kalla Rp 147,57 miliar.

Tender done.. https://www.cnbcindonesia.com/news/...g-tender-paket-mobil-dinas-menteri-rp-14723-m

The price mentioned brings it to 100k usd a pop. Obviously we don't know anything about customization and/or additional safety measures installed/required that could bring the price way up.

Tender? If there was one, it's a bit of a joke of course. So they ask a price at the Toyota importer and sole distributor, and also from two groups of Toyota dealerships (in Central Java and South Sulawesi.) which' purchasing would go via the distributor anyway...

No other brands or type of cars included, no local employment opportunities investigated, etc. Nothing published if they did.

Just noticed PLN EV charging station at Aeon BSD. Pretty cool!

Yeah, that's cool. Did you see the Stroom Coffee Café there also? For those who wait while charging.

There are three now in greater Jakarta. I think the one you mentioned is the only one on solar power.

I'm a huge AML fan, had a DB9 in Dubai, but yes all the prestige 4x4 look the same and crap. I had one of the first Cayenne Turbo in Dubai in 04 that was vvvvvv cepat and looked decent but now the Bentley et al are so boxy and ugly

The Lambo one at least is so ugly it's kind cute, in yellow it looks great

Haven't seen the full DBX yet since it isn't officially released for a few weeks. Lets hope in real it looks better

These monster SUV's are doing very well, commercially speaking.

It started with the Cayenne which sells -together with the Macan- the best in the Porsche gamut. And the Lamborghini SUV is also doing better than their sport cars. Which obviously are not very suitable as daily driver.

Raffi Ahmad's Lamborghini caught fire btw, Perhaps it was modified, but it's also just too hot here, and then in macet....

Yes his driver was moving it and he hadn't paid his taxes and he insured it for 10 b rupiah which is like $1m or something?

Fishy much

Look at the pics, a small extinguisher could have fixed that, but then it wouldn't be a write off would it?

Been waiting for the new X-Trail that came out in the rest of Asia last year.

Yes! Yes!

Exactly two years after introducing the revamped X-Trail / Rogue in the rest of the world, Nissan is selling the car in Indonesia.

And in the meantime in the rest of the world, the testing of an all new model has started....
