4/11, 25/11 and 2/12 anti-Ahok demonstrations

The local Hash chapter? Beer for all at the end of the run?

I came by the big mosque on the way home on my bike yesterday, seemed like mostly high school students. All being well behaved and not even one call of "hello mister" :D

More. Getting bigger. Guess no one is sending buses. bet the government foots the bill again for their return home just like Nov 4 riot.

They are bullshiting, they have no idea of how muc will come.
They said high number in the hope to get the indecisive to make the decision to come because many other will do.

No idea of how much it will have, but on the way the 25 have gone, I don't think it will have that much.
It will be full of outsider of Jakarta, it will change nothing, the election will come and Ahok will win.

After that I hope arrest will come.
And FPI burn to the ground

Now the former terrorist are going to attend. This even makes it more interesting. It would be great if the AGO announced on Thursday that no charges for Ahok. That should lead to some nasty actions on the rioters part and perhaps the police can start cutting them down and send a real message.
OK, not going to happen.
http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/...m-convicts-may-join-dec-2-rally-official.html

There is a possibility that former terrorism convicts will join a large demonstration against non-acting Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, which is planned for Friday, an official has said.

“They are now in several spots. They are waiting for the right momentum,” National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) chief Comr. Gen Suhardi Alius said on Monday, as reported by tribunnews.com.

  • The GNPF-MUI will not take responsibility for any actions that are not in accordance with the agreed arrangements.
Can they say this? I mean, its their rally, their people... if anything happens the point is that they are responsible right?

Like they would take responsibility. They will find someone to put the blame on...

On another news, the government had instructed ISPs to block the FPI's due to provocative content.

And the head of FPI has been reported for insulting the state in a speech 2 years ago.

incoming, don't know if 4 days is long enough to walk there from here though :)

So apparently after estimating 10,000 people, they are now down to 80 (yes, eighty, no zeros missing), and those 80 decided to not walk after all.

Definitely seeing a lack of motivation here, probably due to lack of "funding"...

My (Indonesian) wife said: How come people would want do demo again, last time their were tottaly drop off, no bus for come back and need the generosity of Ahok for go back home... and it was a demo against him!

Malu lah!

Where are they headed in particular- I ask cos I don't have a lot of time to read through news & lots of posts & hubby is playing at JakCloth this Friday ... I hope it is safe.

Supposedly, they've agreed to limit the demonstrations to Monas and it's supposed to go from 8am until 1pm. After 1pm, they are supposed to disperse. But who knows what will happen on that day.

If it were to move from Monas to elsewhere, I assume it would be the DPR, Sudirman, Bundaran HI, the Presidential Palace.

If there were to be riots like we saw last time, I assume it would be in the northern areas with large Chinese-Indonesian populations from Pantai Indah Kapuk to Kelapa Gading.

Is JakCloth in Bekasi? If so, I think it's far enough from the demonstrations and potential hotspots.

How is he going from Bandung to Jakarta? I'd be more concerned with crowded trains. As for traffic in the city, I anticipate it will be fairly quiet as many people are not going to work/school that day. But better to plan enough time and not drive through the center.

Parkir timor something or other- is the place.
They are going by car. I just spoke to him, they haven't confirmed yet- I think they are waiting for more info on the situation

An acquaintance on Facebook liked an article someone from KL posted. It seems that at that time, there are 300 coming from KL to join with the holy brothers in protesting the evil Ahok. It was mentioned by the Police Chief that he won't allow outsiders into Jakarta for this. I wonder if he is at the airports too?

I hope the government is not making bad decision to allow the (anti-Ahok) prayer rally and the labor union demonstration to occur on the same day on 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Dec. Why issue two permits for Friday when the other one can be on Saturday (for example)?

Saturday is a day off work, no point in demoing on your day off work, spoil the weekend
