US Presidential Election - What's your take?

That's not fair towards Waarmie and somewhat under the belt, David.

Look at the timing of posts...I hadn't even read what waarmie had posted before my post #499...I was responding to Supir Angkot.
However...it is co-incidentally amusing.

Two bad candidates. The vote will go to the less of the two evils. Trump supporters calling for armed rebellion if Hillary wins isn't going to help him any either.

Dead people don't vote. Sure, there may be a live person using the dead persons name but the dead person doesn't vote. Even if there are some dead people names being used, it won't matter to the numbers what so ever. The US election system is one of the greatest machines within it's democracy. Sure, there are some bumps in the system but those bumps do very little to change an election. Trumps use of the "it's fixed" statement is just another excuse for if he loses because he could never say she won and he lost.

"So how did it go?"
"Not bad, I was in second place."
"Good. And competitor X?"
"Ha, she came in last-but-one."

Trump's recent derogatory comments on women would disqualify him from employment even at an Indomaret convenience store, let alone the presidency but then Hillary has more bagages than Toko Matahari so it’s a close race.

Yes, Democrats could steal a close election by having dead people "vote" in swing states.

Unless GOP can flip the ticket, Pence sounds more presidential than Trump.

Anybody uses this site?

I clicked and picked my state....and was directed to this link https://secure.sos.state.or.us/orestar/vr/register.do?lang=eng&source=SOS. Can't get it to work at all. Always get the Secure Connection Failed. I'm mad at myself for not doing this earlier and deadline is tomorrow...

If I can't get it to work at all, I just have to resort to the Indonesian prayer like usual...I can't help with my vote..only with bismillah with the hopes that my pick will win...

Perhaps you missed all the baggage Secretary Clinton is carrying, and of course, her gender disqualifies her in the minds of many.

Has nothing to do with gender. That is just a shallow excuse. She is just as despicable as Trump.

You mght want to rethink that a little if you study the electionn of JFK and the Chicago Machine. Nothing will ever be proved, but some interesting theories backed by some facts.

Theories, nothing ever proven. If it has facts then it can be proven, end of theories.
In studies of so many elections concerning one billion voters there has only been 31 proven cases of voter fraud. Mostly misrepresentation of identity. 31.

It's getting dangerous now as Trump has plainly said that if he loses then the election is rigged. Trump couldn't care less about America, he just can't face the prospect of losing, and is willing to say anything to undermine Clinton's victory. He doesn't care that he encourages a paranoid and very well armed section of society to undertake violent revolution. Pence is doing his best to water it down, but I don't know how successful he is.

It's gotten so bad that even Republican officials are opposing the claim.

*sigh* I can only wonder how we even get to this point...seriously scared for America's future.

Yes, a very heavily armed segment of society. Not that long ago the ones with arms were the hunters and sport shooters. Oh, I won't leave out some criminals. The US decided guns were OK so more guns entered society but they couldn't be open to the public and couldn't be loaded. More guns in homes, more home break ins, more guns in the hands of criminals. Oh no, we must allow everyone to protect themselves from the guns we made available to the criminals. So, many states said you could carry or transport a weapon but it had to be concealed. Not good enough to some so along comes the open carry. Of course, that was to deter any prospective criminal from attacking you. Crime rate didn't go down though.

The segment of society that has decided to arm themselves were not the ones normally associated as victims of violent crimes so you have a segment that is armed for what? Militia mentality. They are going to not just protect their own from harm but the entire nation from whatever they perceive is the originator of harm. Militias grew up all over the US. From a few individuals in one area to a couple hundred in the Americal back hills. They all had a manifesto of protection from an unjust political, taxation, and social programs that didn't give them free reign over their lives. Add the many open carry individuals with thoughts of malitia grandeur, questioning their own usefullness towards a society that is changing to be more aggressive and a government that is by their perception, taking away from them and giving to those who they feel do not deserve it. All these militias and like minded individulals needed was a leader who could bring them all together under one cause and they found that now with someone who came out and said the words they wanted to hear. Donald Trump.

Trump is going to save their weapons from being taken away. Trump is going to get rid of not only those criminals that may have come to the US but mainly all foreigners that have already or try to cross into the US boarders. Keying on the thinking of Militias and their wannabees that all Mexicans are criminals and all Muslims are terrorist, he found a large following. Mosly armed.

These are the people that will start the battles in the streets. These will be America's new armed criminals. Their attacts are already started and I imagine that since they were ready to carry out an attack on an apartment building housing Muslim workers, more plans are in the making. If Trump loses, it will be these groups and their wannabees creating havok in America. The GOP and the VP Candidate can say whatever it likes. This is what these people have been waiting for and no matter if Trump loses or wins, their activity will rise dramatically.

He is now actively undermining democracy in order to soothe his ego. That this man is 2nd in the US presidential race really shows how fragile democracy is.

As Tom Nichols, a Republican #NeverTrumper put it, this race is no longer a race about policies, it is about whether you are for democracy or against it.

Actually, the "theory" that Mayor Daley's Cook County political machine stole the 1960 election for JFK was long ago debunked. Certainly there was voter fraud then and will probably be some in this election, as well. But with the advent of Gerrymandering and the voter ID laws to limit opposition turnout, sold as fraud prevention by largely Republican controlled state legislatures, academia and the media have investigated the claims and found voter ID fraud to be miniscule and of essentially no impact on the outcomes.

Trump's claim that the election is "rigged," like so many of his claims, has no basis in fact.

For my money the claim that if Trump is defeated his ardent supported will erupt into a violent revolt is largely overblown. A few conspiracy crackpots, I mean the ones with a closet full of assault rifles, may take over a government office or something, but it will be address as the criminal activity it is, not the vanguard of a political revolution.

America may be a haven for all kinds of loony groups on both the left and the right, but it is not a crackpot nation. Whomever wins, the nation will survive, life will go one.

Thankfully the number of radical militias is actually quite small. While some like to call themselves Three Percenters, in reality it's more like three per million. Still, they typically have a metric ton of ammo, tannerite, and other goodies that go boom. I don't think they're capable of overturning the government, but that won't stop them from trying and killing thousands in the process. It's extremely irresponsible for Trump to encourage them.

As a side note, until last year crime rate has been declining significantly over the years. This year the rate is increasing again, but nobody knows why. I'm not sure if the decline was directly related to the increase in the number of guns, but that's what the number implies.

"killing Thousands" .... please. The numbers imply no such thing; two variables moving in opposite directions does not a reverse correlation make.

Killing thousands is probably overblown. But there is a good chance crazies like Dylann Roof will become more emboldened and frequent.

One of the best parts is the Paul Ryan "trader" sign.

If Trump loses the election he has a backup plan and no he is not going to lead a Civil War and become the Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi of the deplorable.
Afterall Trump is a businessman, entertainer and skillful brand keeper if he loses the election he will find a way to capitalise on it.

Rumor has it that his no so secret plan B is to create a Trump-branded TV network to take advantage on his fervent support, news reported his son-in-law has informally approached one of the media industry’s top dealmakers about the prospect of setting up a Trump television network after the presidential election.

Actually, he has approached three different people. Problem is, he doesn't have enough money to do it and would need to buy a network to pull it off. Oprah would love to unload hers so maybe he could go there. He will start off with a Hanity overload if he does get something going. Maybe Gore has another channel hidden somewhere.

Six months or a year ago, I would have believed this. However, Trump has revealed such an appalling level of narcissism that I now believe he might be becoming truly unhinged. Mental health professionals say that when narcissists find themselves in a state of failure so profound that even their distorted world view can't compensate by spinning it as success/everyone else's fault, they may go into total meltdown mode. If that is what happens with Trump, he may not be coherent enough to use his business skills (such as they are) rationally.

Here's a link I found through a quick Google search (scroll down to get to the text) - I don't recommend clicking on any of the links in it, they seem to be mostly promoting the book this guy has written. I am not saying it's the best description of a narcissistic meltdown, it's just the first one I came across. But can't you see Trump falling into the behaviors it describes?
