Unlimited KITAP

I have now been in Indonesia 8 years. I return each year for a medical procedure which is covered by Medicare. I have lost my pension card discount for prescriptions. My pension is no longer topped up with rental assistance or utility assistance but I still receive a monthly pension which enables me to live here much more comfortably than would be the case were I to live in Australia.

"if the Merp is mandatory when applying for the unlimited kitap like it is for kitas renewal and conversion to kitap."
Some years ago, when I was still using a visa agent, the agent told me that the MERP was basically a thing of the past as it was automatically "issued" with every new KITAS or KITAS extension, but you wouldn't know it as they don't issue you with anything labelled MERP.
I have been out and in 3 times in the past year and the sight of my KITAS was all that was required.
The Merp would/should have been stamped in your passport with the Kitas/Kitap stamp . Both showing expiry dates .

Passport, cost of changing citizenship, banking since there are no direct deposits from the US to Indonesian banks, the fact I am a veteran and my loyalty remains to the US, family ties and responsibilities towards them.
Cool. I'm a US Army veteran as well. I'm no longer American but yet have family back there. It's not hard to get a US Visa for visiting...so...if you want to hold on to your patriotism and nationalism, it's kind of awkward living long term in foreign countries. But hey, enjoy your merdeka here.

I agree, enjoy your Merdeka here! I also a veteran, Veteran of the Pot Wars! It was terrifying trying to grow plants, hiding under trees from Helicopters, right overhead. Sometimes armed troops would jump out and scourer the mountainsides, bursting into peoples homes, terrifying the Women and Children! Sometimes leaving them crying as their watched their Fathers and Mothers and getting dragged away!
Sent off to spend long periods of time with hardened criminals that had committed serious crimes such as armed robbery, and Murder.
All of this for growing a known medicinal plant!
And the irony now its Legal in half of America!

I don't see the contradiction between settling down in another country but still staying attached to your own and your culture.
I am here since 7 years, at 72 I plan to stay here till the end, but I live like a French, and will never surrender my nationality or religion.
I have lived in a dozen countries (visited 60) and it has always been my approach.
BTW, ex French Navy (7 years).

Yes, indeed. 5-year KITAP has "date of expiry" while Unlimited KITAP has "date of report".

"Date of Expiry" means you have to renew before expiry while "Date of Report" simply means you have to report by that date. Renewal means there's fee to renew it, while report can be free of charge. I think the OP was concerned about the cost of renewal after ten years.

Now, what year or when did this KITAP with "date of report" first came out?
Mine i think was in 2020..

Good Morning half afternoon everyone. been Looooong time ... ;)
Talking about unlimited KITAP and IMK ( Re- Entry), last month I went to Bogor Immigration to report my hubby's U-KITAP and get new unlimited IMK. Everything is online these day, I had to submit all docs online and then waited ( 2 weeks) for the HQ to authorize it, the funny thing was, according to the immigration staff, we were the first doing the report and get unlimited IMK in Bogor Immigration.
After we get the new "PDF Kitap" , we went to Police to get STM and then DUkapil to get 'PINK KTP" lol.
So, all shorted now.

Did you choose the unlimited IMK/Re-Entry Permit or it was the only IMK available for your situation ?

My city is not requesting the STM anymore (the STM was cancelled in 2013 but my city was requesting it until around 3 years ago)

PerPres no.96 Year 2018 - free translation
Article 16
The issuance of new KTP-e1 for foreigners who have permanent residence permits must meet the following requirements:
a. must be 17 years old, married, or have been married;
b. KK;
c. Passport; and
d. KITAP.

Regarding IMK:
Previously it was only max 2 years and you have to get new one again, and again. We did this because of the silliness and careless of my Brit hubs.. long story short. Few years ago three of us were planning to take short vacation to Singapore .. when we get to airport, just about to check in..he checked his IMK.. guess what? 'Its Expired!. So ..yeah ..only Me and son enjoyed a week in Clark Q. To avoid any of that in the future.. we decided to take unlimited IMK for 8 juta.

RE: STM
I sent my staff to renew KTP , as all the datas/details are the same and still in their computer 'wow' . but somehow the Dukapil asked for STM, But the police wouldnt issue STM until we provide a letter statement of Extended/Reported KITAP. So we had to wait couple of weeks before the online immigration granted the application. After that all okey dokey. next is SIM A.

I don't understand why you are getting all these documents? As far as I know, All you need is the Kitap and the Surat Domicile, MERP/IMK. . Please explain why you think you need a STM, KTP, SIM A? Also please use the full wording for these documents, as not everyone understands all these Abbreviations!

I don't need to explain "why I 'think" I need STM KTP and SIM? The Dukapil office required/requested STM ( Police Report) to get KTP ( National ID card), and hubby need KTP as his ID for traveling around Indonesia. Because the KITAP is already faded and there is a reporting date (31 Maret 2025) on the card, and some place will not understand the meaning of that, they will think 'oh sorry sir, your KITAP already expired" . Not all places are familiar with expat/foreign documents.
Last one: SIM A ( Driving Licence), he like driving tour of Java , so yes he does need SIM A.
English is not my native so yeah ..you can see I am babbling and rumbling

I just got my E-Kitap, and E-MERP. Can someone tell me how to find these later online? 🤷🏼‍♂️

I'm also getting ready to extend my unlimited kitap soon...and was told by my new agent...there was a new list of fee issued by the immigration on dec 2024 (recently) and one of the new items was Rp 8,000,000 for 5 year MERP applicable to the unlimited KITAP. Rp 5,000,000 if you had a KITAP max 5 years (not sure what that means).

The 5 year KITAP is the one preceding the unlimited one.

The time unlimited KITAP doesn't need to be extended but you need to "report" each 5 years .
and was told by my new agent...there was a new list of fee issued by the immigration on dec 2024 (recently)
You can see some of the fees at https://www.expatindo.org/community/threads/some-new-immigration-fees.7881/ .

According to the Regulation (see link above) :
Rp8 million for a time unlimited Re-Entry Permit (MERP) .
Rp5 million for a 10 years Re-Entry Permit .

The 8,000,000rp is for the new unlimited/lifetime Merp to go with the unlimited/lifetime Kitap . Not for 5 years . You say your getting ready to extend your unlimited kitap ? Do you have the unlimited or are you wanting to apply for the unlimited ? If you already have the unlimited it is not an extension it is just the 5 year report to immigration . If you are on the 5 year kitap you now have the option of extending it for 5 or 10 years or applying for the unlimited kitap and unlimited merp . You have misunderstood what your agent has told you .
