Is this cost for visa's for someone that goes directly to the immigration, or if they go through an agent? These prices seem very cheap too me.

These fees come from a PP/Peraturan Pemerintah/Government Regulation , fees that Immigration must apply .

I don't understand these fees. When I renewed my Kitas extension in 2024, I had to pay IDR.9,200,000 plus 1.000.000 for address change. How can my fees be so different from what you stated above? I can't believe my agent would overcharge me so much?

It seems agents' fees vary enormously with some seeing this as their golden shower and I gather that once you use a particular agent you are stuck with them and there are those who take advantage of this to hike up their fees. My wife processed all our visa steps and from memory it was about a third of what you have paid.

I think you and I have a very different understanding of the term, "golden shower"

Believe it . Agents are only there for their benefit , the more they can get from the client without question the more they are laughing at them . You are not obliged to use the agent again unless they are your sponsor for the Kitas . If they are your stuck with them and there fees . If not and you are on a Spouse Sponsored Kitas do any future renewals /extensions yourself .

Only stuck if they are your sponsor . I used one for the initial vitas/kitas then did the extension and conversion to kitap myself . Saved near 35juta on what they would have charged .

Directly . Shows you how much an agent overcharges !!!

Please tell us how you did this? Was it difficult? how many trips to immigration? how did you know what documents to have, and bring to immigration? I would love to save money on this, because I have a tight budget, and will convert to Kitap next June..
P.S. I'm on a retirement Kitas visa, not Spousal.and I think my agent is my sponsor.

I myself used Retirement KITAS before and can tell you that this price is near the lowest I found .

The 1 year Retirement KITAS requires a sponsor/guarantor . Your agent may not be sponsor . If he/she is not , he/she has to pay the real sponsor for the sponsorship documents .

... how many trips to immigration?
From what hathanger said last week : "I went to my local immigration office .. and they said it must be applied online." , things changed . (from https://www.expatindo.org/community...ion-in-the-new-evisa-system.7876/#post-108453)

It may not be a good idea to convert to KITAP , as some agents charge a 5 years KITAP more than 5 times the 1 year KITAS .

Instead of the Retirement KITAS you may choose :
- 60 days single entry Tourist Visa (extendable up to 180 days , then do a "visa run" and come back in the same day with a new Tourist Visa) . No sponsor required , so you can pay only the official fee (Rp6 million for 360 days) and maybe you can even save the "visa run" as Immigration says at https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/web/visa-selection : "You can extend this visa or convert it into another visa or stay permit."

- 5 years "Silver Hair" Visa/KITAS @ Rp13 million . Its like the Retirement KITAS without a sponsor/guarantor , but will require you to invest US$50'000 in an Indonesian bank .

If your on an Agent sponsored Kitas your only choice is to pay them unless you have an Indonesian spouse/wife . You should then be able to change to Spouse Sponsored Kitas . The Immigration Departments web site shows a list of the required documents . If your close to the Immigration office you can go in and ask what is required and they will give you a printed list and copies of the application forms , Took me 2-3 trips , handing in application , biometrics , collection of new Kitas/passport . Conversion to Kitap was the same process .

If someone has already paid for the unlimited spouse KITAP fee (a few years ago), presumably we don't have to pay again? And we could now just pay for the unlimited MERP, and we're basically covered for ever (other than free reporting every 5 years)?

Thanks for all the ideas, but I don't want to deal with leaving, starting all over again. And the silver hair visa is out of my budget. So I think, since my agent is my sponsor, I will just stick with my agent. It seems to be the only way. What a crazy system!

Your suggestion seems to be the only way I can go, since I'm not married. So it seems we are required to have a sponsor right? Can I go to immigration by myself, without one, and get the Kitap visa? If possible, that would save a lot of money.

Yes you definitely need a sponsor either way . If you can do the application yourself using the agent as your sponsor would be up to the Immigration office but I doubt it . The agent/sponsor would more than likely not agree to it without you paying them a fee and probably notify the office that they are no longer your sponsor leaving you with no option but to leave Indonesia . Unfortunately once you use an agent to sponsor you you're stuck with them .

Yes , once you've paid the fees for the unlimited Kitap and Merp there are no more fees only the 5 year report which at his point is free but I wouldn't be surprised to see a fee imposed on it in the future .

Just browsed a few visa agents and there fees for the Spouse Sponsored Unlimited Kitap . 40 - 59 juta !! 23 juta including Merp if you do it yourself ! And I bet an agent would charge you several juta again for the 5 year report .

How about retirement visa cost? No spouse.
I understand they are doing this for a living, but charging 3 to 5 times the cost at immigration seems like we're getting gouged!
