https://forum.expatindo.org/threads/how-to-proceess-kitas-vitas-online.411/ is a fantastic practical guide that is a godsend for anyone that wants a VITAS/KITAS.

I'd like to share some of my experience so anyone searching for information can see a more recent post and one that is specific to pickup in Singapore.

The VITAS online experience takes a minimum of 7 working days. The online experience was pleasant and had less restrictions than expected. For example, the Imigrasi website says color photos most be uploaded and posts online say all blank passport pages need to be scanned and uploaded. I uploaded several black/white photos and only my passport data page and didn't have any problems. Also, the site now tells you how many VITAS requests have been processed and what the remaining number they'll process is. I never saw the quota met so applying early in the morning isn't terribly important.

After you get the VITAS approval email and PDF you have 2 months to visit the embassy/consulate abroad to pick it up.

The Indonesian embassy in Singapore is very strict about dress codes and identification. My wife was denied entry for wearing a midriff. Men should wear long pants, a shirt with sleeves, shoes and socks. Women should wear pants or a dress. Tight dresses don't seem to be a problem, but showing skin is a no-go. The guards at the front entrance strictly require identification to hold in exchange for your visitor pass. This can anything like a credit card or driver license from your country of origin. Photo ID is not required. The staff outside the embassy are jerks, but the employees inside are very pleasant and accommodating.

Application drop off in Singapore is between 9:30am and 1pm. When you first enter the embassy, someone at the door will check your documents and put them in order. If you have everything you'll be issued a queue number. In the link at the top of this post it says a photo with any background color is ok in Penang. That is not ok in Singapore. The background must be white. There is a photo ($10 SGP) and copy shop at the embassy. You'll need a passport photo with a white background, a copy of the telex confirmation, a copy of your entry/exit pass that's given to you at the Singapore airport, and a simple 1 page form will be given to you to fill out. Once you drop off your documents you go to the payment counter and pay in SGP. The receipt says to pick up your document in 2 working days. That is incorrect. Pickup is the next working day. I was at the embassy for a total of 30 minutes for drop off.

The next day, bring your receipt and some form of identification between 3:30pm and 5pm. Pick up took a total of 5 minutes.

After you arrive back in Indonesia, you need to visit http://izintinggal.imigrasi.go.id/IT-online/pelaporan_vitas.xhtml. Enter your passport number and your "Nomor Penguasaan VITAS*". This was the tricky part - none of the documents (telex, VITAS passport page, emails, etc) tell you what the VITAS authorization number is. Look at the top of the VITAS passport page for a number in this format "IMI.#.##.##.##.##.####AA.317". That's the authorization number needed to report online. Once logged in, fill out a simple form with your address. You'll receive an email very shortly after telling you what Imigrasi office to report to. You need to save and print two copies of this email. Its very important to have this at the Imigrasi office when you convert VITAS to KITAS.

Others have done a great job explaining what's needed at Imigrasi so I'll stop here. Two things I'll add is that first, Imigrasi in Bali was willing to let me take my photo and fingerprints at the same time I dropped of my documents and passport after pressing them gently. This saves a trip and time so its highly recommended to try. Secondly, Imigrasi no longer conducts interviews for people that apply for KITAS that entered Indonesia on a VITAS.

Hi,please,i have 2 questions unsolved
1) i 've recently read that it's reccomendable to aplly vitas at night after 12am because of full requests, but,at the same time, the website warns that visa applying starts at 8am until 4pm...so,what's the right way to follow?
2) I selected Admission visa, then i can't find ''suami ikut istri WNI'' as suggested to me by the immigration officer, even the index code is 317,i tried the option ''penyatuan keluarga'' but my application was refused.
have you any tips to help me about it?
thanks a lot

1) The immigration website is now operational from 8am to 4 pm Jakarta time (WIB), so between those hours it should work. The number of VITAS quota remaining is listed at the top of the page. No need to log in at midnight.
2) As immigration is still refining their process, some options may change. Could you provide a screen shot of where you are having problems? If you do, please blank out sections showing your personal information.
