The US presidential debate - Trump Biden!

OMG. It gets more and more clear that you get all your info from the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft.

Aren't all these news channels 2 sides of the same coin?
Why do you know that you always read or watch the "right" news? Because someone told you that you should only trust certain outlets?
No one of us talked with either Obama nor Biden or Trump. Even if, they probably wouldn't have told us the truth anyway.

You mean Fox news.
I have no idea what the quincy thing is, and Fox is just CNN with different lies.
The big problem the US has at the moment is it's a dying power that doesn't understand the mess it is in. The UK has pretty much accepted its time as the world leader has long gone, but the US has yet to face that reality.
The empire is in decline, but nobody over there seems to be considering a realistic future for the country.
Add the terrible corruption that makes the US a plutocracy rather than a democracy, and you have a breeding ground for stupidity. Both major candidates are a joke without a punchline, and neither are any good for that country.
The aren't voting for a leader, they're voting for a distraction from reality, so the worse the supposed leader, the greater the distraction. That leaves the people who really run the US in a far better position.
While the press is pushing "News" about how useless the 'other' candidate is, the population never looks at who is really running the show.

I watched the presidential debate. Kamala Harris did well and in any debate assessment you would take it that she won the debate. Not sure that it will have a significant impact on voting. Take management of an economy, four economists and you would have six completely different assessments as to the best way to go. This with people who have studied and involved with economics most of their lives. So how well does the average person understand economics? Very poorly. Self included. For all his bluster, Trump's repetitive "Make America Great Again" has an instant appeal now for the many millions, if not the majority of Americans who feel they are struggling and somehow being punished by the present state of affairs with inflation and rising costs. So, do they go with Making America Great Again or more of the same economics which Trump asserts have resulted in the present crisis?

And in times of crisis being able to blame illegal immigrants is attractive. So Trump has that sewn up. Being compassionate and understanding and having some kind of humanitarian approach to illegal migrants? I don't think so.

Stopping the wars? Trump claims to be able to resolve all these issues while the present incumbents have not succeeded whatever their good intentions or negotiations.

So Trump lies and blusters but he is a rogue and to many people more attractive than just another well presented, polished performer who is seen as just that.... a performer. I fear Trump may win the next election.

I watched a bit, lasted 10 minutes.
It's not a debate. Kamala shouting, Trump shouting, more off an electoral meeting.

I do hope you're wrong about T-rump becoming the President again. He is only out for himself, and the mega rich. Unfortunately, there are so many ignorant, poorly educated, aggressive American's, that ignore all the horrible things he has done. As others have said, this is really just for show. The ultra rich that control the world's economy, stay in the background and watch with humor. Someone said it is the decline of the American empire. Maybe so, but who will be next, China?
The real problem is all the world is stuck in this militaristic mentality, of who's got the most power, bombs, strength, etc. we are all just human's living here. Everyone has the same basic needs. Healthy Food, clean water, air to breathe, a roof over their heads, dreams of a better life for their children.
But we have been dominated by greed and corruption, look at the food offered, very little pure food, and tons of chemical, preservatives, imitation flavors, dependence on Fossil fuels, obvious oppression of alternative energy sources. Insanely over priced Medicines, Doctors, Hospitals! For a species that is said to be highest on the food chain, we have done a very sad job.
Unfortunately maybe major annihilation of the humans, would best for the plants, animals, and Mother Earth!

That’s what you get when the microphones are muted etc. etc. The Indonesian presidential debates on tv were even worse btw.

The question is of course what the undecided voter will think and do after this -one and only?- ‘debate’. Esp. Trump has a base that doesn’t need any more convincing, they’ll vote for him whatever he says.

And his favor ability rating is at 46% and hasn't changed in a few years. He has never had 50% or above at any time. Just the same ones backing him he has always had. The thing about the US elections is they never are based on the popular vote. Always the electorial College which is made up of delegates from each state. Some states have been playing partisan games with their electors so many will wonder if the election is rigged.

I have trouble understanding people who want to vote for Trump.

The church lot ignore his affairs / sex with porn stars / divorces
Lots more should about defending democracy, but support a man who wanted to remove it from them.
Women ignore his pussy grab stuff, not to mention allegations of serious sexual assaults maybe including rape)

People are so stupid.
