1. Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

2. Where it says "Default Style" in the bottom left, click and select "Test".

Actually just now I am not experiencing it. Though it has come and gone before, so I will wait until I've made several posts across several days without trouble before I'm completely sure all is well.

I agree with you but it will be hard to enforce. That is the sales model here; people offer stuff for sale on Facebook or Instagram or so and won't give any prices until you PM then (and then the negotiations start).

I personally do not think we want to go down that road, for a couple of reasons:

1) There is sometimes a legit reason not to include prices. For example for importers who have to readjust prices every time the currency fluctuates, it would be impractical to keep changing prices. In addition, posts last a long time and a price list today, may not be accurate 6 months from now, but the post is still up.

2) Our members are savvy enough to know that not showing prices up front is in general bad advertising, and will act accordingly.

All newbies? Contributing newbies? Or selling newbies? As far as I can see, nobody has been rude to people asking questions or ventilating opinions on diverse topics.

I think if someone only sees a forum as a way of expanding income, that is fine. BUT then they also need to adhere to the 'spirit' of that forum in the way they promote their products. And let's face it, not too many people here are fond of the hush hush I will make you a special price approach.

Incidentally, the piling on against one guy just advertising cheese is absolutely against the 'spirit' of this forum as well. It is ok to point out that they did not post prices, but it's not necessary to pile on the poster.

In fact it's rather easy to solve; just lock the (garage) sales items immediately after the OP. Or only allow new threads in that section. So that way everybody who has a question has to send a PM and you avoid discussions or difficult situations after comments. Trust me; it will happen a lot, esp. on cars and real estate. (I got it on cats before since someone was p!ssed about a remark in the post.)

Of course now you will say other members will not benefit from the sincere questions, but hey that's life. Then they just need to ask a similar question themselves.

jstar, the comments you made in the cheese thread were fine. You asked legitimate questions and commented some useful additional information. I see nothing wrong with that, quite the opposite in fact.

As it stands, posting prices is not a requirement on this forum, but if one doesn't post any price it is only fair game if potentially interested buyers ask for them to be posted. So no problem here.

The problem I personally had is with the aggressive tone of some other users when it wasn't warranted. It is obvious that marcel is not a native English speaker so some stuff may have been lost in translation. A little bit of understanding and patience goes a long way sometimes.
