Suggestions for Expat Indo Forum

Lots and lots of things could be mentioned that we can in fact get here and not from a source country. Well, except pizza. We can not get Chicago pizza, only Chicago style pizza. We can not get New York pizza, just New York style pizza. Same for Italian Pizza. Only Italian style pizza. Unlike cheese, real pizza seems to have to be sourced from it's producing area if you want the real thing.

A point I just noticed - the forum clock is bonkers
Last Post: Today 04:12 PM

Surely it should read 16:12 - or 4:12 PM

04:12 - is AM not PM

Military time doesn't use AM or PM.... only civil time does that. Therefore, 4:12 PM or 04:12 PM is civil time and means the same.

As European, I prefer the 24 hour format. :clock:

(I think that's the standard in RI too btw.)

But I couldn't care less.

I live my life according to the following time format:-

wake-up time; shower-time; breakfast-time; lunch-time; afternoon tea-time; cocktail-time; dinner-time; night-cap time; shower-time; bed-time...

I know what you're all thinking but....a gentleman never tells of that time....

Sorry, I forgot to reply to this. Thread popped up again and it reminded me that I forgot.

So this is apparently a convention of the PHP date and time format (php is the programming language this forum is built with). More info on this: http://php.net/manual/en/function.date.php (if you are having troubles sleeping tonight).

All we can do is change it to a 24 hour format.

Does the 'auto-saved' that you sometimes see popping up (black text on yellow background in lower right corner) when entering text, do anything in fact? When my Safari blows up, there is no way to recover my text, unless I copied it to the clipboard.

That's an easy time to figure out if you're just putting a name to the times. There are two actually.
When she feels like it time
Begging time.

Times that no one could set a watch to.

hahaha...just to clarify in case there was any doubt....my wife has never had to beg.....

It works for me but I would try to solve whatever is making your Safari crash first.

It's iOS 10.x

After upgrading, it goes wrong very often while typing text in Safari. Esp. on this forum though. The smaller 0.0x upgrades didn't help.

My ipad still doesn't work properly with Safari and my PC also has problems with Chrome. I have done no changes to those systems since coming here when it all worked just fine.

I am unable to replicate the problem on safari.

For Chrome, it's a problem with one of chrome's latest updates (chrome updates on its own) and there isn't much I can do apart from what's already been done.

Apologies if the following suggestions have been put forward earlier in the thread.

1. A Blog/Journal area.

2. An Ignore button that when activated by a member toward another removes or conceals the recipients posts from view.

I agree with both.

Ego centered wannabe writers who just want attention or write down what they deem important, and always refuse to participate in normal discussions, should get or create their own blog.

And there is an ignore possibility already for certain other posters. But it hides too much or not enough when there are replies etc.

Another:
Easier access to something like The Cage.

1) What would this look like? Are we talking about an area where a user can just post their thoughts without getting responses? Can you elaborate on this?

2) There is an ignore function you can access by clicking on the user's name to access their profile, then clicking "Add to ignore list".

1. A place where one can write of their Indonesian experiences, day to day life or observations. I think the opportunity to comment allows for an exchange of information should it be needed. See the following as an example. Scroll down the page a little. http://www.indiamike.com/india/journal.php

2. Thanks dafluff, found it.
