Road Frustrations.

I forgot to say while all the confusion and chaos is going on, not a policeman in sight, mind it was really pouring with rain, so you wouldn’t want the poor luvies to get wet

Y
^ well I realize that as i did when i first came to Asia. They complain about the same thing on Thai forums also. The point is to realize that neither of us can change the situation so better just to relax and enjoy the palm trees and the sunshine.

I'll get my hat....

You sound like a bit of a philosopher................kind of like "The Dude" from the movie The Big Lebowski.

Just this morning I was reminded of people who cut blind corners in a trajectory that puts themselves & others in position for a head on collision which fortunately not does usually eventuate.

What really dumbfounds me though is like this imbecile this morning who was cutting a blind corner to his right, I was coming from his right so he couldn't see me & a collision was so close because the imbecile, instead of watching where he shouldn't have been going, was looking to his left ….... WTF !!!!

4. Priority seems to be given for funerals but not normal ambulances (wtf?)

This one is really really so true hahaha

Also anyone noticed the vision impaired drivers and motorcyclists? They look like all the others, indistinguishable it seems!!

But when they turn you can see that they don't even bother to have a look at the road. That is because they rely on their sense of hearing.
Especially obvious when driving from a small onto a big and crowded road. But they rarely make a mistake.
The other drivers with good vision look a bit helpless and clumsy in comparison when they try to evade these 1st class blind drivers.

What a humbling sight

In Bali you will see many driving scooters with a little flower in their ear. Now I know what the flower does...so thank you Faris...it's clearly an antenna to assist in hearing...

Really?? Well Homes, you seem to have once again cracked the case.
Now everything makes sense to me..
Once somebody gave me such a flower and I didn't know what to do with it so I smelled it.
Probably I was given the thing because I was always saying "apa?" "apa?"

They probably thought I was deaf..
naaah, it all comes together

After a major road rage incident in Jakarta traffic I stopped driving there. It would have been a case of kill or be killed.

Faris Fals, what are you trying to do? If I recall correctly you said you were German. Germans aren't supposed to have a sense of humour. Are you trying to destroy racial stereotypes? You vill be punished.

(Sey are si only sing set keeps this world in order anyways..)
Now I häff to staat ät squäre wan again! 'Scheisse!'

After I went sru all set trouble, getting rid of mai exent! I even acquired a sense of humor to blend in here!
But sadly I had to gif up my sense of reality and sense of purpose in exchange for it.
Now everything seems pointless and I feel so lost all se time..
But I still can laugh about it in the end hahahahahahahahaha

Something we’ve overlooked, the idiot police generals who have their private cars fitted with blue lights and siren who force traffics out the ways so they can get to the golf club, like the three Fortunas that used to pass me every Monday morning on my way to work at the airport forcing everyone out the way so they didn’t miss a round

in the space of 2 miles on the way home from Bandung last week I was forced OFF the road by buses passing in their crazy fashion
Also does anyone understand why so many people take 1/2 mile or more to get up to speed? :)

Boy you guys are so touchy but back to the vids. What upset me most was the entitld bules in a country that they are visiors trying to make there own rules. If the traffic cop doesn' have a problem with the woman wanting to finish her call , well then you got no right to play lord over her and decide what to do....asshole. second vid same goes...get over it your time is no more important then theirs. You don' like it go home but if you tried that shit in the states good chance some one will pop a cap off in your azz.

Ok ok I'm no saint either what drives me crazy here is the bridge where I'm sure everyone thinks is a passing lane. They come to a bridge (where of course has potholes) , and is higher than the road so you can' see on coming traffic. And since you can' see any cars (Not sure that matters) pass that car that slowed down for the potholes. Now I was sure I would die many times at our bridge but to tell the truth in the 2 years we lived here have never seen a accident on the bridge.
So many it works lol.

Also as a scooter rider I'm as bad as any local. Think it helps the years of playing Mario go karts.

Oh silly me, I forgot motor cyclist here have no sense, I’m about to cross the road it is totatally clear except for a lone biker about 300 yards away, so I reckon I can cross the road without being in danger, no, in most countries I’ve been people drive behind you as you cross, Oh not here, he drove in front of me missing me by fractions of an inch, he just didn’t see me, I told my good lady, so now I’m banned from crossing the road, this is were my friends brother was killed by a motor bike, so I got a bit of a nagging, it also appears a couple of yobs on a motor bike we’re planning to rob me as I was out walking, the local security got wind of it and stopped them before the could put their plan in motion, I was happily on my walk I knew nothing about it till I got home, I really have some good neighbours here

^ Always carry an umbrella. With which you can swat people who get near enough. Hold the brolly end and use the momentum of the handle .

So their time is more valuable than mine? They can block my road just like that? Try that in the states and you'll get a ticket.

Yemm the point is we aren' in the states ! For whatever reason we chose to be here. Also in the states if you got out of your car and put your hands on someone like in the Viet Nam vid you would be arrested for assault . In the indo vid those trucks are a road crew , again try in the states to get out of your car and yell at a Caltran crew (thats a road crew in calif) and see where that gets you.

One other thing it' not " your road" Its theirs.

Well you're the one who started it by saying "but if you tried that shit in the states good chance some one will pop a cap off in your azz."

So let me get this straight, because we are not in our home countries, we have to accept any and all bad behaviors done by our host country's citizens? I can understand it if we were in say, war torn countries with little to no law enforcement.

Or are you saying that Indonesian people should not be held to the same standards we would in "civilized" countries? That somehow "these indonesians" can't measure up to the standards of good behaviors that are basically simple common courtesy?

Come on man, with a mindset like yours, no progress will be done. But hey, I guess that's one way to feel superior and oppress the natives, eh?

What we in "our" societies agree as common courtesy may not translate into other cultures. I believe "adopt, adapt, improve" may be one answer or "when in Rome do what the Romans do"
