Reminder: FPI protest this morning in South Jakarta

It's been mentioned elsewhere on the forum but for better visibility, I post it in its own thread.

The FPI is planning a protest in front of the Police HQ in South Jakarta this morning, starting at 8am.

Avoid the area if possible, mostly due to traffic congestion.

They are totally getting out of hand with their above the law attitude. I do find humorous that whenever one of theirs get's arrested they are referred to by FPI as sympasizers and never members.

This would now be a good time to start knocking these guys around at the first sign of trouble and arrest even more including any leaders of pack. They need the hard lesson to show they are not above the law and have no power.

This Gov't has done everything, way above reasonable, to dissuade those who want to assert their democratic rights by using mob violence and anarchy. Eventually, imo, there will need to be a showdown of authority and some will be hurt...they need to be taught!

It's getting to where the only remedy is to use force, hurt people, and stick them in jail. When some see their friends falling they may just rethink their priorities or at least how they approach them.

I haven't seen anything on any media that is current. mostly just that they were going to rally.

The rally is now on most channel news...seems orderly and estimated to be 5000 attendees...god knows what they are rallying over as seems a lot of them are not just FPI but of all colours and stripes.

I've seen earlier on TV what I thought was the FPI demo... but after having a closer look it was only some jakartan queuing for the Transjakarta...
No, really they think that by getting at best 5.000 people to demo they would get the head of a Kapolda? Please, tell me what booze they are on, I must try.

The three accounts suspended by Twitter were @syihabrizieq, an account belonging to FPI leader and firebrand cleric Rizieq Shihab, FPI's official account @DPP_FPI and its public relations division's account @HumasFPI.

It will be nice if more FPI keep getting charged for their speech and for the things they do. It would be nice to see the laws enforced and people going to jail. Sorry you can't go around smashing things and threatening people.

You always could if you were FPI. The Police always stood around and did nothing and SBY was always just words and no action. Things are different and FPI may be making things worse for themselves by always trying to undermined the polices actions and accusing them of things that they themselves once were the receivers of the good fortunes. You also have a President that seems to be against anything that may disrupt his economic packages or at least appear that they could. The FPI are getting old in their messages so they decided to kick them up a few notches. Many have had enough and because they attacked Ahok and caused a rather large couple of disruptions in the city, people are starting to come out against them with the same weapons they are using.

The government still needs to be careful not to chase them underground. That would create less transparency and probably cause more unrest then now. The best action would be to remove their leaders and prison them and get the soldiers to see that there is a better way where there is more harmony in the community. Plus, many followers will no longer be getting that pay and free lunches so they will lose interest rather quickly.
