Setting aside the question of readability*, it's all about manners. The internet long ago decided that posting in all caps = shouting. As this is a pretty much universally understood social convention, those who defy it are sending a message.

Mind you, I am not inherently opposed to defying social conventions or sending messages. Both are often appropriate behaviors. However, it's not "bullshit" to say that reading capital letters is headache-inducing. Hyperbolic, perhaps. But definitely not bullshit.
