Ransomware on Indonesian PDNS (Indonesia Temporary National Data Center)

Keep in mind that these are professionals. It's naïve to think hackers would give up $12 million voluntarily after putting in so much work, resources, and effort. This sounds like a bedtime story for children for happy ending. There's likely something happening behind the scenes that hasn't been disclosed.

If asked, the hackers have nothing to lose by apologizing in public if it means they could still get the money.

I fully believe you might have experienced similar situations on the streets with numerous street vendors in Indonesia.

The root of the problem, in my opinion, is the culture of not taking responsibility for owning the problem. Those who are responsible are not held accountable. When it happens, there is no shame, no responsibility, and no willingness to resign.

This is what he said, as simple as this.

"Ini sudah kami rutin SAMPAIKAN, tidak perlu menunggu (dokumen tidak terpakai) banyak," ujarnya, saat dihubungi Kompas.com, Rabu (3/7/2024).
"We have routinely REMIND this, there is no need to wait to destroy the unused documents," he said, when contacted by Kompas.com, Wednesday (3/7/2024)

There is no indication whether they will investigate how this happened or take measures to prevent it from happening again. He has not stated any intention to resign if he cannot manage the situation.

What destroy? They sell it. For how much by weight I don't know, but there must be a lot of money in it because government offices still require hard copies. There is no money in destroying it, just plenty of work to do.
