Quarantine back to 7 days starting December

The new quarantine requirement ( 1 vacc 7 days, 2 vacc 5 days, 3 vacc 3 days) is regulated by task force letter no. 7, issued and effective today 16 February 2022.
In addition, there's 7 international airport for entry point, ie. Jakarta, Surabaya, Bali, Batam Riau, Manado and Lombok.

Also of interest is:

Bagi pelaku perjalanan luar negeri usia di bawah 18 tahun atau yang berusia di bawah 18 tahun dan membutuhkan perlindungan khusus, maka durasi karantina mengikuti ketentuan yang diberlakukan kepada orangtua atau pengasuh/pendamping perjalanannya.

This confirms the post from @make_batik_great_again above, that kids under 18 follow the quarantine rules for their parents.

So - will they start to re-issue tourist visas again I wonder?
B211a visa for tourism is available
do you mean VOA or visa waiver?
not easy - indeed, Uno and tourism industry is working hard to get it back but there's other stake holders that does not support, and they do have strong reasons.

I know about B211a - It's now nearly 2 years since I have seen my boyfriend and I was thinking it would be easier to just wait for the visit visas to come back ...but looks like we will just have to get him the B211a visa (or I go to Australia myself....but I'm not sure that's even possible yet). Altogether it's been a nightmare not being married the last 2 years and although I never really wanted to wed I think we will just have to do it to make visas and reunions easier.

It's not official just yet, but according to The Bali Times, Bali will "trial" quarantine free entry starting on, or before March 14. The stipulation is to be fully vaccinated, "or a booster" - which I'm inclined think means "and a booster". So if meeting these requirements, you still get a PCR test upon arrival, but can go directly to the hotel of your choice - however need to show a booking of four days. That must be so they can find you and let you know the test results. Apparently you still need to get another PCR test at the hotel after three days. The other thing to note is they are dropping the sponsor requirement on the B211a. Not really clear what this was about, but apparently there have been some issues with this.

The final point was if this trial goes well and the infection rate continues to drop, it may be adopted for the rest of Indonesia around April 1.

Great news, and likely to become reality considering the source was Minister Luhut in an official meeting. With a B211a it is the sponsor who submits the request for the visa, so they will need to create a new procedure if they are going to remove the sponsor requirement, or go back to using the previous tourism visas.

Yes this is all talk at the moment but funny to see everyone in Bali acting like it's already been passed and advertising that Bali is fully open etc etc
Talk about misleading people
That's what happens when politicians talk without thinking
They come up with "plans" and it gets reported on IG as gospel truth law etc
Then they have to backtrack later

The amount of adverts I see now from immigration agents and hotels saying "bali now open no quarantine no visa etc etc"

Read the small print kids

It looks like the visa on arrival has been reinstated starting this week, according to several news companies, but nicely detailed in indonesiaexpat.id.

Apparently it's only for 23 countries, and can only be issued at the Bali airport. Additionally it looks like there will be a Rp500.000 tax collected. Once having this VOA in Bali, the traveler can exit from any of the other international airports throughout the country.

Only after 4 days on island, effectively the whole island is now a quarantine bubble

Yes, good point - I did see that mentioned in one of the sources. In any case, quite happy not having to deal with the B211a. Still need to get a PCR test on arrival, but can go directly to the hotel. I believe one of the reasons for the 4 days, is that another PCR test is required on the 3rd day.

Of course the fun part is that yes, 23 countries now have access but not many of those 23 departure airports have DIRECT flights to Bali

Not really ,as people can now freely travel between islands with no testing .

There are definitely major holes in this quarantine bubble. But, I'm sure they're going to scrap all of it soon, as situation allows.

You are supposed to stay on the Island of Bali for 4 days. ie no travel to lombok gila java etc. No need test. They will check your passport maybe for entry stamp ?

Is there a specific requirement that allows only flights from ONE designated airport per qualified country, and only DIRECT (non-stop) flights from those airports?

I don't see any mention of such requirements at

If so, that would certainly limit the usability of the VOA substantially, but is there a basis in fact for this?

To make myself clear (ish): If I'm coming from USA (on approved list), couldn't I travel by one of the usual routes such as: ORD > NRT > KUL > DPS?

Isn't the only requirement that one enters RI at Bali? Not being sarcastic, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Transit or stopover is not allowed I thought
Well maybe transit within certain time

No one is flying directly here because they don't want to fly back empty
E.g. dubai bali direct on emirates n/a because they cant fill a plane bali-dubai just yet
It's all one way traffic
Hence not much happening
Oz to bali to oz is a more popular route with aussies living in bali going home

In my case, will be using Singapore Airlines on the IAH-SIN-DPS. There's a technical (fuel) stop in Manchester, UK, and a 6 hour transit in Singapore - however will stay within the airport. My understanding is this will be a "direct" flight.

I got "the memo" that it is 1 day/night quarantainne now in Jakarta. I will departure from Amsterdam next Friday, direct flight 12 March. So, that's good news for me.

The Surat Edaran that permits the VOA for people of 23 nationalities makes no restriction (or even mention) of what country they are traveling from, direct travel, or transit. Unless I missed it, please read it and let me know if I missed something.

That's only for entry to Bali
And it's not 23 Nationalities
It's countries. Departure.
It's the countries that have a black list not the passport holder. Otherwise someone from south Korea could fly in directly from France according to you?
