I remember when it was mandatory for all the locals to get the jab here in my town. If you said you didn't want to get it they looked at you like you were crazy and dangerous. They love to follow the rules and do like everyone else. They learned that well, being forced to go to ceremonies! I saw it was better just to not say anything. Some Bule's that got the jab, got really angry with me if I said I didn't want to get it. And got defensive! I decided to just shut up.

Yeah, I know what you mean. COVID became another topic like religion and politics, especially if you dared to doubt some of the official narrative. So better not to talk about it.

At the beginning of COVID here in Indonesia we still lived in a Kampung. At the first few days of the news a group of women passed me with a distance that got larger and larger the closer they came to me cause Iam a Bule. With my "enough to survive Bahasa Indonesia skills" I told them that the distance should be around 2-3m and not 20m. Even they had to laugh.
